Well yeah they have to be polite in their schemes. Neither come from a powerful enough family to go around offending people without risking their life. Littlefinger in the Vale is more able to be rude and think we will see more of that in Winds of Winter

TheLazySith

Yeah, Cersei is queen regent and is the daughter of the richest man in Westeros. She can get away with being as rude as she likes because nobody can touch her. Varys and Littlefinger on the other hand are nobodies, if they offend the wrong person their heads will quickly end up mounted on spikes.

novavegasxiii

Now that I think of it I can't recall a single conversation with her where she wasn't rude.

SaraGranado

I can only think of the scene when all three of them and Picelle are manipulating Sansa into sending the letter to Robb admitting Ned's treason and asking him to go to KL to bend the knee. In that scene all of them say pretty messed up things to Sansa, since all of them play both good cop and bad cop at occasion, but always with an air of politeness and nobility. Cersei at least pretends to love her at times.

Wishart2016

Cersei generally was better at acting polite before Joffrey died.

SaraGranado

In AFFC and ADWD she's completely off the rails, Joffrey's death totally sent her to Paranoia Town. But our POV of Cersei in ACOK and ASOS is Tyrion, which doesn't either...

Comprehensive_Main

I mean They are all pretty bad but I would say Varys is the worst. Man was made a eunuch as a kid and what does he do mutilate children to make them his spies. Like you would think he would try to be better. Littlefinger for his part doesn’t do crazy duels anymore. Cersei is evil as well but she never had any perspective and wasn’t raised as well by Tywin.

Alt4836

I get what you saying but you worded it poorly, plus GRRM said Varys is extremely misunderstood, to me this is a hint that what he does is actually for the greater, and if people are fine with Rhaegar being a religious zelots and totally wrong constantly, then i would say they should be fine with Varys, who seem way better at what he does than Rhaegar.

MinuteDimension1807

You don’t find Littlefinger and/or Varys rude either? I feel like abducting and manipulating a young girl is a rather rude thing to do. As is benefiting from someone cutting children’s tongues out. Idk just seems sorta rude to me. But maybe I’m just being silly.

Korrocks

Littlefinger is not really polite at all. Even if you leave aside his evil actions, he is very rude in many / most of his scenes. He enjoys insulting and belittling people and it’s honestly a miracle that no one ever lashed out. Varys at least tried to be polite and respectful when interacting with lords, but LF rarely bothers.

novavegasxiii

I'll admit; I tend to be more forgiving of rudeness if you're at least witty about it.

megahmed252

I don’t anyone will ever lash out on LF as he’s a small guy and you’ll just look like a bully if you hit LF.

novavegasxiii

Evil absolutely. Impolite? Not necessarily. Saying I'm terribly sorry sir but I'm afraid I'm going to kill you is polite but certainly not moral.

MinuteDimension1807

ok well i’ll tell cersei she’s being a tad bit impolite and maybe she’ll listen and remember her *pleases* and *thank yous*

enriquepollazo

If she ordered your death like so many hundreds, you’d say she’s also evil.

DewinterCor

I dont know if I would label Varys as evil. Might be a little controversial, but I think Varys might be one of the only morally good people in the series.

[deleted]

Varys isn’t evil

[deleted]

It depends on the situation no? She is rude to people that hold less or no power of their own. Varys and LF are irrelevant in terms of political and economical power (ignoring their spies and skills as players tho) so Cersei has no reason to care about formalities. The Tyrells however are the very reason the Lannisters still sit on the Throne, so Cersei (despite being an impulsive moron) knows not to fuck with them in order to get their help. But since Cersei is a fuckin moron as mentioned before, she exposes her real intentions to Margaery by having her arrested, and trusting unreliable people like the Kettleblacks who tell everyone the truth.

Wishart2016

While alienating her actual allies like Jaime, Kevan and possibly Pycelle.
