There are worse textures than real velvet. I don't mind the polyester stretchy stuff. Actually, felt is worse than velvet, especially that stuff that's like poor man's velcro.
The funny thing is, I feel this, but I still used chalk as a kid when I could get my hands on it. I guess I just loved drawing more than I hated the texture of it. I _did_ leave them lying all over the ground instead of putting them away, though, specifically to avoid the chalk-on-chalk sensation.
I love the sound sidewalk chalk makes on pavement and feeling the vibration through the stick of chalk, but that horrible sound of chalk touching chalk and also the texture is nope nope nope. As a kid I used to get the chalk wet and that was the best. Even better sound and feel against pavement, no dust, great texture, brighter colors, not noisy when the pieces touch each other.
Maybe if I could get it pre-ground, lol. I just got anxiety from thinking about grinding chalk.
I think they sell it as a paint though, which is a great idea for the future!
GLOVES! I won’t touch the stuff, big fat NOPE. My kids play with it and if I have to put it away, it ain’t happening without gloves. I thought I was the only one!!
Not gonna lie, I haven't been fortunate enough to get an official diagnosis. I was in the process of getting a referral a few years back when I got pregnant. Life and other priorities and then covid have pushed back me trying to pick that up again.
I'm certain I do however, and yes, mid thirties before I learned enough about autism to realise that I am autistic. Late thirties now. Fortunately groups like this and lots of research have helped me improve my life, as before I had my epiphany all those years ago I was in the midst of a full blown burnout from too many years of masking and trying to live up to the neurotypical image.

Same. Sidewalk chalk doesn't bother me as much as a chalkboard did when I was in school, though.
Literally same, my whole body cringed.
This might sound strange to some, but I can literally feel this meme in my teeth.

I get it too. this may sound weird but i also feel it in my nose.
That's it right there. Same with matte stuff.
Velvet is the worst texture on the planet, change my mind

I wanna upvote this but I also wanna downvote it
Microfiber. It looks soft but it’s scratchy.
oh god I hate microfiber, feels like velcro for skin
I feel it between my shoulder blades
Literally me when chalk scratches against chalkboard or just screeches…
I have that problem with wool too.

Or when you don’t notice the chalk running out and you slightly scrape your nails against the blackboard.
I just visibly cringed omg
Omg i though this was just me… I literally had to handle chalk with paper towels as a kid in order to touch it and write on the chalk board.
I feel a slight gaggy sensation in my throat reading this.

grind up chalk, mix with water, paint onto sidewalk! You’re welcome :)
Maybe if I could get it pre-ground, lol. I just got anxiety from thinking about grinding chalk. I think they sell it as a paint though, which is a great idea for the future!
Not nearly as bad as having to eat food with a metal spoon from a matte bowl
[STOP!](https://youtu.be/Mi8za2kTJDs)

For me it’s the nylon material that tents are made of, especially when I accidentally scratch it with my nails.
You bastard
Willow charcoal on newsprint.
My teeth hurt reading this
Chalk is only acceptable when it’s been saturated with water.
Not that bad for me. The clink is good stuff the scraping is awful but not usually that loud
Another parent who has ASD? Were you late diagnosed as well?

I used to rock climb and the combination of chalk during the climb and then hand lotion afterwards to protect my hands was hooooorrrrrrible.
I like chalk texture. Comfy
