Less than 50% chance to identifying flirting? That’s worse than random result on such one of two options dilemma!

TheGingerLinuxNut

It's probably within margin of error for the sample size. We can probably just call it 50%

petermobeter

maybe people have an increased chance of getting it ***wrong*** compared to getting it right, regardless of whether theyre identifying flirting or nonflirting??

SuddenlyVeronica

It's not unthinkable given all the talk about missing hints for fear of being creepy, seen as predatory or low self-esteem or anything like that. On the other hand I've also heard studies seem to suggest men in particular are actually hard-wired to make make false positive type errors.

petermobeter

i wonder if ive ever flirted…. 🤔🤔🤔

YellowOnGrey

Even if you never flirted, some would have perceived it as flirting

SuddenlyVeronica

Seems pretty unfair to call it that if the intention wasn't there, and I'm guessing it never was if you have to ask.

YellowOnGrey

True. However, despite the intention being the the deciding factor on whether an action is flirtatious or not, it remains the recipient's discretion to judge it. Feedback would be extremely helpful here to confirm that the reading is correct, but many people refuse to provide it in a useful form and insist on being discreet

Cakers44

Same here. Everyone insists I’m flirting with a female co-worker but I’m literally just chatting w/ her cause we get along

golden_eternity

I thought I was NT for 45 years.

Ok but how do you paperclip a banana to the ceiling?

YellowOnGrey

You could straighten it and fashion it into two hooks. One end to hold the banana and the other to be pushed into a crack or a seam?
