Otaku-World3

The problem is that I didn't see a single one of them during the fight on the back of eren's founding titan. Eren nearly summoned all the 9 titans from all generations and yet not a single one have a body of a dinosaur or a whale!

Kvav4

Whale would be very useful during rumbling fr fr

Dreadsbo

Until u gotta get on land

TheBlueNinja2006

Could've had a sea of blood or smn

BeardedNoodle

Didn’t Zeke’s mentor have a whale beast titan?

FaultySage

No he was a sheep.

BeardedNoodle

Ah I see thanks for the correction

Dawidek26

A ram, actually

The_Potato_Men

i thought it was a sheep because he was like a slave to marley or something

TheAtlasComplex

My interpretation was that the lucegenia that cursed Ymir was seen as "life" There's a red core in every one of these creatures, maybe showcasing they're all connected via the idea of "life" The purpose of "life" is procreation, whether it's complex organisms like humans or the bacteria within us. When organisms cease to procreate, they cease to be. Some of the creatures in the scene are extinct, almost showing that not all life will prevail, and either Eren with the Rumbling, or Zeke with his euthanasia plan (also pictured in the middle) are omens of "life" coming to an end. I could just be spouting nonsense but I created this logic so I could move on with my life, because it bothered me for a while haha. Especially after the deep symbolism and plot spoilers in the season 2 outro, I figured SURELY there was a reason for this.

sluterus

I like this interpretation, and i feel like this scene kind of primed me for the hallucigenia reveal later on by subtly suggesting that the titan’s power is something ancient and primordial.

TheAtlasComplex

Agreed!

Stoneheartsky

I agree, we can also see from what Eren said: It does not matter what I do, the ending is the same. And as we see the nukes in the end, there's no trace of Eren existance, even so the Hate, War and all the rest just keept moving as if nothing had even hapened. In the end, history is cyclical, regardless of the actors.

Funny-Ad5704

Oh shit this is deep and I agree

Keyblades2

I think it's a symbolism that the other beast titans had animalistic traits just like the Doctor, Zeke inherited it from. That's my best guess.

Pierogi-z-cebulka

"Dedicate your heart" is a theme for this song, every animal dedicated it's heart to survive, in video for the opening you can even see a bee collecting pollen with red heart, everything that lives on this planet dedicates it's heart to survive

whathell6t

Except for the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs have this [dedicate your heart song.](https://youtu.be/r8-pdKo9UAc?si=YfsVJPmZ8IjBcGyZ) Lyrics:

One_Subject3157

I know many things. Not related to the pic regretfully.

daggerius

I had a more simpler understanding of it back then. The Beast Titan was a shock entity in the series, a complete curveball of a Titan. The Titan who looks completely different (and well, talks). My simple theory was that the makers did not want to spoil Beast Titan’s introduction-impact and hence they made a medley of various beasts to not highlight the actual Beast Titan and still maintain the shock element of the reveal. Never thought about it again, may be it still holds true?

[deleted]

I always saw it as simply predators, which is why they showed the slideshow before this. Could also be past beast titans like a lot of people seem to think, but I think it’s just showing the predators ruling over the prey. https://preview.redd.it/pjha0yv3q4wc1.jpeg?width=1136&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=affdfecd93973531745278bd38f23a7178c808c5

redefinedsoul

Imagine a carnivore giraffe 💀

Fady_isGod

its related to final episode’s while Zeke was talking to Armin about the beginning of the source of all life matter

-WalterWhiteBoy-

One way to look at this opening is through the lens of the people of Paradis at this point in the story. The beast titan came out of nowhere and looked like none of the titans they had ever seen before. His very existence opens up the questions: "Are there other animal based titans? What are the possibilities, what kind of animals could they be?" The audience also has these questions because at this point we had no idea about the 9 titans or any knowledge of the outside world. This scene in the opening is a reflection of our own wonder/curiosity. Either that or Isayama planned to add them in later and forgot about it (o ᴗ o)

Lost-Inevitable-5398

I think it might just be showing his connection to other animals as the beast titan, I don’t think it correlates directly to other shifters. But who knows I may be wrong.

MALWARE_9

Why would a T-Rex be in the show 💀

Sonofdeath51

Is there anything in the world that isn't greatly enhanced in coolness with the addition of a T-Rex?

SlapsJournal

Even with an explanation, that shit is so funny

coalflints

I kinda think it’s just because it looked cool, not a real reason

ThePlagueDoctor_666

You ever been distracted by someone's left hand and didn't see the right hand smack you in the face?

Archemetis

It’s definitely supposed to show Marley’s true goal. Fossil fuels. /s just in case.

residualangst8

Every age has it's beast titan.

Lucapezzolo_

Even if some people think that those animals/dinosaurs are referred to past beast titan shifters, I think it's actually just a reference to the fact that the Hallucigenia is basically some kind of biology god that's been around for millions of years probably; and thus it's power had influence on ever type of creature.
