I am a bit of a space nerd from years past but I picked up a few really cool things from him over the years.
Had a way of explaining complex ideas in such clear language that even a child could grasp it. That is the sign of someone that really knows what they are doing.
Rock on Space Gandalf, you did it right!
I went to a star-gazing session with him back in the early 2000’s. I learnt a lot and he helped me on my star gazing journey.
He was incredibly passionate and inspiring.
RIP Greg
Cancer, fuck. I wonder what kind.
I saw a thing the other day where its like 1 in 5 men get prostate cancer now? The fuck is the awareness for that these days?
As pointed out, this isn't the same person - apologies to both Gregs https://iconcancercentre.com.au/patient-stories/2023-01-30/greg-remains-upbeat-throughout-second-cancer-battle/
Prostate cancers as a whole have the second best survival rate of any cancer. A common saying among doctors is "You don't die of prostate cancer, you die *with* it" as most of the time, the patient dies of something else well before the prostate cancer gets them (they're usually fairly slow growing).
Of course, not all prostate cancers are the same and some are fast growing and have low survival rates.
That is bullshit. I have had 3 friends die of prostate cancer. The stats say 3,743 men died from prostate cancer in 2023. The fact that many men won’t die from contracting prostate cancer doesn’t change the fact that many men do die from prostate cancer each year!
Rest peacefully among the stars Space Gandalf. Your legacy lives on.

Looking forward to his return as Space Gandalf the White

Well now everyone has quit smoking and generally less pollutants, they live long enough to get other forms of cancer.
Most tobbaco smokers quit tobacco...

Go speak to an oncologist. It very much isn't bullshit. It has one of the lowest fatality rates of any cancer.

Shit, you're right. I should have checked more thoroughly, instead of assuming his name wasn't common.

Launch him towards a star, a big white dwarf. It will be a long journey, but he'll enjoy the view on the way.
