My wife bought some, completely forgetting no one in the family likes spicy things. Rather than waste them, I decided to just eat one a day until they were gone.
One became two in a few days. Then three or four, after a few more. Then suddenly handful, and the next thing I realised I just ate the rest of the packet one day and thought ‘I kind of want some more now’.
When the snack is so good you would fly ibternationally to get them 😭 i would do that for snyders jalapeno pretzel pieces, they used to sell them here at a not cheap but not terrible price, but now you can only buy rhem from the US and for some reason the shipping price is near 100 bucks for a very small amount
Ahh yes, the aussie farmers that are helping to put American Cheetos on our shelves, it's definitely the same people complaining about the same things, right?
Because they’re marking up an imported item thats harder to get and doesn’t sell as well as the other mainstream items, apparently.
I saw some chips at my local the other day with some chilli and cheese flavours, 10 dollars a packet or so like pictured. I’d love to try them, but I’d a packet of chips worth two coffees? Nah
Probably worth it to somebody else though.
Yeah, I don't see why there's anything wrong or surprising about them being expensive?
They are imported chips from overseas and not a commonly bought item, why should or would they be cheap?
This post reminds of the time I wanted to order something from the UK after they left the EU and shipping + customs/taxes would have been more expensive than flying there and picking it up in the store myself...
Blair’s had some amazing kettle chips. Ghost chilli, habanero and jalapeno but I can’t get them here anymore. Also expensive as shit but way better than these.
They are a good chip, hab & mango is my favourite that I've tried. Only places I've seen them stocked are breweries/bars, haven't seen them in a regular shop.
H&m isn't a super strong spice, just a nice flavour with a light kick.
These ones made in America are a different recipe. Most of the ones in NZ are from South East Asia (from memory). Some specialty suppliers bring some American ones to NZ though.
Yeah Takis are the same.
I stupidly didn't try Takis while on holiday in USA. When I returned to Australia I saw them and wanted to try them.
My whole life changed.
Now I'm living week to week buying an $11 bag of them whenever I can.
I hate Australia
I live in the us and have family bring twisties when visiting. Can’t get twisties anywhere in the states. Why would Australians pay this when they have a superior product yanks can’t get.
Oh wow, I hadn’t realised that!
I’m not a big chip fan (I only ate ‘em yesterday because I couldn’t be fucked leaving my room), but ZigZag Twisties are by far the most superior
Then chicken > then original
I hate direct lines, and i hate the mark up on them. I don't know why we bother with half of them, they just go out of date and we mark them down at a loss. Everybody is too busy pointing and laughing at the prices to buy them :/
So you’re saying OP is rage baiting because of an imported delicate product (if a bag pops they’re no good) from a traditionally more expensive store?
*no way!*
That’s more then I pay for the imported American chips - it’s a heavier package then normal too 220 instead of the regular 180, that maybe why it’s jacked so high. But still it’s ridiculous considering the imported ones are $10 -$14 depending where you shop and are fantastic. Herrs brand, the California Reaper ones are great.
Incorrect, colesworth sell the Cheetos flaming hot puffs. Which imo are better than the ones pictured above. Tried em once for some crazy price, maybe 14 bucks, said I'd stick to my 4 dollar ones
Just go to your nearest “American Confectionery” store and pick up a cheap pack with your Manchester Lights.
Pretty sure the prices aren't much different at those places.
Yeah but you save $60 on your ciggies
The good old American confectionery store where you have no idea how much an item is until they start ringing you up?
If you're getting overpriced American treats, you ain't concerned about your wallet or health
You don't have to buy anything to see there are no prices and just junk food in those shops. Nor do you have to walk in. But yes, you do have a point.
The jalapeno ones are faaaar better. Still expensive though. I wish australia made more jalapeno flavoured things
My wife bought some, completely forgetting no one in the family likes spicy things. Rather than waste them, I decided to just eat one a day until they were gone. One became two in a few days. It's that msg.
Jalapeno Cheetos are maybe best chip there is
Jalapeño cheddar Kettle cut. Best chips of life. Feel like spontaneously flying to Canada just to get a few bags.

They are amazing. I’ve had them too. Why doesn’t Australia make more jalapeño cheddar type chips!?
The flaming hot are good but man the cheesy jalapeno cheetos are next level.
I agree. Jap ched is always the best flavour
Hahaha I bought one for 5 dollars. Went home and my husband realised it was expired. Thought I had a bargain hahahaha
Unless it's been expired for a year, it should still be good.
You can buy a whole fucking chook for 11 bucks. Fuck that.
IGA are dirty bastards.
Why?
They have ridiculously high prices.
People complain about Coles and Woolies and the way they rip off farmers etc. Then also say IGA is shit. 🤷♂️
Ahh yes, the aussie farmers that are helping to put American Cheetos on our shelves, it's definitely the same people complaining about the same things, right?
The difference is no one except elderly people that can’t go as far shop at IGA I guess
Ah... Australia, right?
Well this is r/australia

Its like $2 more expensive than a bag of red rock
They taste like chemicals and make your shit orange.
Not sure about these but the Jalapeno ones are incredible. Fuck now I’ve got a craving for them at mid night. Thanks
To be fair, shipping from the US is insanely expensive right now
Did you know it's possible to choose to not buy things if you feel they're too expensive?
I think you may have missed the point
It seems so. What's the point then?
Karma farming.
Karma farming
I fucking love the regular cheese ones. Better than anything colesworth has to offer.
This post reminds of the time I wanted to order something from the UK after they left the EU and shipping + customs/taxes would have been more expensive than flying there and picking it up in the store myself...

Chappy's have a habanero and mango one I've been wanting to try. They're expensive, but they're stocked a few places. The Dill Pickle ones were nice.
They are a good chip, hab & mango is my favourite that I've tried. Only places I've seen them stocked are breweries/bars, haven't seen them in a regular shop. H&m isn't a super strong spice, just a nice flavour with a light kick.
Spring Street Grocer in Melbourne have them, and a million other expensive tasty things
What in the hell, even here in NZ I grabbed a bag today for $3
These ones made in America are a different recipe. Most of the ones in NZ are from South East Asia (from memory). Some specialty suppliers bring some American ones to NZ though.
I recently tried spicy ramen twisties. Similar
I don’t know, mate. They’re like 7 bucks here in the US. Pretty much evens out.
Yeah Takis are the same. I stupidly didn't try Takis while on holiday in USA. When I returned to Australia I saw them and wanted to try them. My whole life changed. Now I'm living week to week buying an $11 bag of them whenever I can. I hate Australia
I’m in the US right now and tried em yesterday, they were pretty shit so don’t bother wasting your money lol

Pretty sure I've seen them at Daiso of all places. Would have been much cheaper than that.
Might as well bring some houses back with you... y'know, to contain the cheetos. Couldn't hurt.
damn. I need to be filling my suitcase up with the cheap ones here and selling them for half that. Already got the GF oreos waiting to go..
$7 US for 480 grams party size cheetos.. (not on sale).
I’ll send some over if you send me some Burger Rings or Toobs..
Not sure what their prices are like these days but try USAfoods.com, they have a pretty good range of USA foods
Brought a small bag home from NYC this week. $2.99usd
If you think this is bad, you should see what Aussie expats pay for a pack of Tim Tam's overseas.
That size bag goes for about $9 AUD in the US now. Considering how much Vegemite costs here I call this a fair trade
Order online, there amazing
Just looking at the packet and I can already taste them
Not even worth it mate. They're rubbish
NQR had these for $1 each for $7 for a display box
I hate direct lines, and i hate the mark up on them. I don't know why we bother with half of them, they just go out of date and we mark them down at a loss. Everybody is too busy pointing and laughing at the prices to buy them :/
Talmnabout messigans from Guadalajara? Cos they love flamin hot cheetos B
Wader we dune hair
(AusExpat) same here in holland. Frito-Lay milkin that cash cow.
You can try making your own https://youtu.be/H2nY7Tu1Qgs?si=pxZ4KVjQWVOoqat1
Just don't try them 🤷🏽♂️
Such a jack!! But such good chips hahah so addictive.... Can never stop at one handful.
They are terrible. taste artificial the color is artificial . Don't waste your time .
You’re not missing anything.
It's cheaper & safer to just lick the floor at a chemical factory
Got one half price at Cole’s for 3 dollars or something. Nothing too special
That's the puffs. The crunchy version (basically twisties) isn't officially distributed here.
The bag even says export on it. Definitely not the real deal.
So you’re saying OP is rage baiting because of an imported delicate product (if a bag pops they’re no good) from a traditionally more expensive store? *no way!*
Coles don't sell these.
17.91 as of 2:15 29/01/2024
They taste bad anyway. A poor attempt to copy Herr’s Carolina Reaper cheese puffs.
The Coles near me has these that I'm sure costs less
I'm sure I've seen them at both Coles and Woolworths. And if not, flaming hot Doritos are the same too.
Lol I can just mail you some
Tried them, not worth the hype at all and I love spicy chips. They have a gross chemical taste to them and aren’t even very hot…
Try the twisties spicy hot ramen, taste is not bad and seriously hot.
You can buy these in Coles and Woolworths for $4.
Incorrect, colesworth sell the Cheetos flaming hot puffs. Which imo are better than the ones pictured above. Tried em once for some crazy price, maybe 14 bucks, said I'd stick to my 4 dollar ones
You can easily get the uh .. more enjoyable kind .. through intl customs. Do with that info what you will!
