I have no bread in this fight but honestly it seems like Reddit wouldn’t make those threats if the methods weren’t effective. And if those threats are stopping everyone from fighting, maybe the mods will to fight was never that strong
Except it would have been ruined, because moderation and accessibility tools are going to be whitelisted. So half of reddit is being ruined (in a very childish way) for no good reason.
That wouldn't do anything. Admins would just replace the mods and reopen it. I don't know how this isn't clear to more mods, but they *will* lose their sub if they continue.
Maybe some scab mobs would do the job ok, but the majority of mods are aligned on this from what I see. The quality of subs is going to tank for sure if they are just replaced by people that don’t care about what this protest is really about.
too late for that. if all the protesting mods had done this at the same time then reddit would have had a very hard time replacing hundreds/thousands at once. replacing a few at a time is much easier.
It just doesn't make sense. Users who want to stay closed should stop coming. If it's truly 85% as you claim, this sub and this site as a whole are dead. Even more so if active contributors tend to be in this group. That would really have an enormous impact on Reddit. Closing subs in protest due to it apparently being the will of most people, but having activity return to normal when forcibly reopened, equally sends a strong message.
The reddit hivemind on their way to ruin a perfectly good subreddit so they can feel like they're one-upping reddit:
(Changing this sub the way you did does literally nothing to reddit, but hurts the community)
What about the third option that includes nsfw posts to tank ad income?
Unofrtunately at this time the admins are reversing this and removing mods who do that.
Would it help if I posted willies?
Couldn't hurt.
then let them, \*\*\*\* spez, let the sub die
Did you mean fuck u/spez ?
yeah fuck u/spez
Just delete the sub then, let them try and make a brand new community from the ground up, don't give them any of the fruits of your years of labor.
They’ll just reopen it with replaced mods.
Just post sticky threads that teach people how to power delete their users on the way out.

But we can still post things and tag them as NSFW, right? Or does that not do anything?
If memory serves, I think we've had a few things get tagged as NSFW here. Also we've never had a rule saying no NSFW
It just doesn't affect monetization, does it?
doesn't help, and ruins the website more than the API changes were ever going to
No it doesn't. Ruining something for egalitarian purposes is not the same as ruining it for profit.
Except it would have been ruined, because moderation and accessibility tools are going to be whitelisted. So half of reddit is being ruined (in a very childish way) for no good reason.
Maybe deleting the sub should be an option at this point
Can there be a third option that does a different celebrity?
What about the option to not reopen? That's the only one that could make any difference. Let Reddit find scab mods.
That wouldn't do anything. Admins would just replace the mods and reopen it. I don't know how this isn't clear to more mods, but they *will* lose their sub if they continue.
Oh no, they'll lose the unpaid position that the site owner obviously neither values or respects!?

I really don't like either of these options so it's hard to vote. I vote for either private, restricted, or stopping moderation
I propose opening a Lemmy community for normal badUIbattles in the interim and using this as a protest sub to put images of the official Reddit client
*psst* ^^on ^^the ^^side ^^bar ^^under ^^the ^^discord ^^link. ^^it's ^^been ^^there ^^since ^^the ^^sub ^^reopened
Ah, the sidebar is visible only on old.reddit. At least I can’t find it on new reddit.
Honnestly, if you haven't before. Check out the style on old reddit with res disabled

A, I have seen too much John Oliver for the year every day and already interact with reddits mid UI often
You could also post from a Don Cheadle subreddit.
I need an example, I have no idea who these people even are lmao
/r/Gamingcirclejerk. I mean they've been a Don Cheadle subreddit now for years, but now they just went all in.
Just moderate for those who want to stay, and those who want the subreddit to remain closed can simply leave?
Nobody is willing to accept that leaving reddit is ~~the only~~ a viable option to make the point that the user base is unhappy with the platform.

This is a bit cringeworthy ngl.
So's your mother
If you don’t want to moderate the subreddit in the new form that’s coming then stop moderating?
