Because without shenanigans, it's really hard to get a copy of a joker, let alone a copy of the one you actually want two of.
Blueprint and brainstorm are bar none the best two jokers in the game because they allow you to repeat the effects of your jokers reliably, effectively making whatever makes your deck work, work even better.
Blueprint has to be next to the joker, which essentially means it triggers twice. Brainstorm can trigger it at 2 separate points, which is useful for having an xmult at the start and end of the joker sequence
blueprint is almost always slightly better. why would you want to trigger an xmult before your joker sequence?
afaik there aren't any jokers that decrease mult which means it's ideal to delay the multiplication as much as possible
at a certain point, you xmult so many times that you don’t need (or want, really) flat mult.
here’s a ridiculous scenario that illustrates it:

If you had two blueprints instead of blueprint + brainstorm, you could put fortune teller first while still using all copies on baron/ancient/xMult, which would be even better. With things like polychrome cards, it matters very little, but it's still positive.
Is this true? I’m pretty sure it isn’t but I could be wrong. I don’t think Baron triggers on joker effects, it triggers when it gets to your “held in hand” effects as it’s essentially treated like a steel card. So it should go “Played Hand” -> “Held in Hand (steel, Baron)” -> “Jokers”. It’s actually a change I wish they would make that joker effects take place before the held in hand effects, though that might make steel cards WAY more broken than they already are lol
Yeah, glass and steel are only balanced at all because they trigger before jokers. Interestingly, the highest scores come with retriggers on glass and steel, to the point having any flat mult jokers at all is pointless. Like the above example with a 3k mult fortune teller (which is already only possible with perkeo afaik), adding 3k to 10e31 is... still 10e31.
you're definitely right about that, of course you want to copy baron. all I'm really saying is that blueprinting is a tiny bit better than brainstorming because of the versatility, since you rarely if ever benefit from wanting a joker at one at the front and one at the back instead of both in one spot
I agree, in the early-mid game it's important to copy your xmult joker, and brainstorm makes that difficult. Blueprints only advantage is that it goes next to the joker you want. Brainstorms only advantage is you don't have to keep track of it when you have a bunch of jokers lol
Its great because you can get both. You can put some busted utility cards like Sock and Buskin in the leftmost slot and sometimes that will be even better than just copying a ×Mult.

its the best compatible joker you have in any situation(as you are always free to rearange your jokers), you are in no risk of dieing and going to trigger money, you trigger that money twice. have a joker that mults x3 that you need to make points your going to make x9. It does both run scaling and points scaling at the same time while others do either/or.

Couldn't find a good reply yet that really explains why it's such a fundamentally good joker. So here it goes:
What makes it so good is that you can make use of the copying effect in any stage of the round. You can copy a joker while being in the shop, while selecting blinds, while trying to score few points (when trying to generate money by playing lots of hands) and while trying to score lots of points (to beat the blind or boss obviously).
Let's say you have the hallucination joker (gives a 1 in 2 chance for a Tarot pack when you open a pack from the shop), Cartomancer (gives a Tarot pack when you select the blind), Reserved Parking (1 in 2 chance for each face card in hand to give 1$ when you play a hand) and a Cavendish (gives 3X Mult). So you can position your jokers in a way that makes Brainstorm copy their effects in every stage of the game, which (in this ideal scenario) gives you a copy of all 4 other jokers you have.
There is another benefit that works with Mime (cards held in hand trigger an extra time) and Brainstorm (or Blueprint). The game doesn't remember which joker arrangement you had when you played your last hand, when checking for Gold and Blue Seal cards. So you can score your hand (with the joker arrangement that scores the highest points) and if you then quickly drag Mime to the edge to have it being copied by Brainstorm after you played the hand and before the game checks for cards held in hand, you can trigger the Gold cards and Blue Seals twice.

What a lot of people don't get about games like this is that, since its so hard to win, winning is not even the main objective. OP sacrificed a chance at "victory" in order to obtain a smaller, arguably better victory.
its like a really cool structured sandbox you can make up your own little run goals or rules with, go progamer n try to go for gamebreaking e scores, try n gold sticker everything, do challenges, or whatever you can think of. What iv been doing lately is purposefully grabbing 1 joker as early as possible that i usually never consider or attempt and treat it like its eternal to try n make a build around it---am i losing completely winnable runs and passing on some siq builds because i already locked in another way? absolutely, and i could not possibly care less lol im havin fun with it--next i decided i wanna try n force spectrals i never use, just in general i really dont grab enough of those packs as i probably should be because i dont know what most of them do sooo itl be hands on learning lol

i feel like balatro on white stake is one of the easier roguelike difficulties by far, much easier than being hades with no heat/slay the spire acension zero
Well Hades you get permanent upgrades though that persist AS WELL as improvements to stuff you can come across during your run, so no heat is kinda apples n oranges n if white stake WASNT easier than that people could probably get that first clear waaaay faster, which surely some would prefer (God Mode is a friend to struggling gamers) but the rewarding feeling on a win would never come close to the same as how i remember it- especially since by nature id have played less runs total not needing to accumulate darkness to beef up and have a chance.

As far as white stake goes, i do feel super confident about securing the win no matter how it plays out now but to be fair, i went into the game totally blind n didnt look up or ask for answers to figure stuff out for a while, so first however many runs were dissecting things like jokers being able to rearrange, how some of the card enhancements worked in practice, and most importantly that this is NOT an RTS which i have a lot of background with n naturally default to thinking its best to spend your money as you get it and convert your money into things working towards your win asap, as its not helping in the bank…….man oh man, it took me a goooood long minute til i realized how insanely stupid that is and maybe i could try not always being broke n window shopping the all the awesome enhanced good stuff i cant afford lol. Pretty much all of that makes me think that even though a good amount of people probably picked up on things quicker and found it easier, the opposite was probably true and there are the same chances people are missing even more than that or possibly even trying to figure out poker as a game in general still n not even onto breaking down mechanics— so ill never sit n outright claim “white is easy” because the nature of being first milestone means you not only have to normal task of “beat the thing” ,but the tutorial phases as well of learning how deep the nuance of the rules go, seeing jokers for the first time, evaluating whats good or not on the fly, etc. If it took me that long to read the dam screen n comprehend THIS GAME GIVES YOU INTEREST ON YOUR MONEY IDIOT, i cant possibly judge anyone elses potential struggles lol
I was going for the Seeing Double unlock yesterday, had four 7 of clubs and discarded instead of playing it to unlock... Lol it happens
On the other hand, brainstorm is actually super easy to unlock if you have the checkered deck. Just keep restarting the first blind until you see a hand that has potential, do a few discards and if you don't get it, restart the blind. I got it within a few minutes of this. Just make sure you keep one discard for the unlock. I was an idiot and used all my discards when I got it the first time and had to dig for it again.
Upside that is one of the best jokers in the game, I had to grind for a while on the checkered deck in early stakes to try to discard a royal flush. This joker is arguably a top 3 joker out of the entire 150 and might be higher.
I think Blueprint and Brainstorm have to be considered the Top 2 Jokers simply because they make every other joker in the game (bar restrictions) twice as powerful.
The only reasons I can think of for passing on them is simply not having enough money or you're on Black Stake+ with a setup of Eternal jokers and the only joker you can sell to make space is the only joker that's worth copying anyway.
