Omg! My wife and I saw him a few weeks ago on the way home from work. Thought we were hallucinating. It was like his hands were on fire.
We were on St. Paul between Lexington and Saratoga.
Yes I have seen this man in Mt Vernon (unless there's more than one) and it was one of the most surreal things I've ever experienced. He walked through the intersection with a homemade burning torch right after a car crash so there were a bunch of people around but nobody even noticed him.
He's next to my office all the time at Paca and Baltimore on the UMMC campus. He'll just be chilling on the corner with burning newspaper and the UMB police will be across the street, staring at their phones.
yup. i’m at UMB and have seen this guy around campus. the UMB cops never do anything but look at their phones. (in all fairness to them, that’s what they’re literally always doing. it just doesn’t change when torch man is nearby.)
Pretty sure I saw the same guy you're talking about about a month ago on St. Paul near Mercy Medical Center. I don't know any other details unfortunately, but it was an odd experience watching someone just casually holding fire in their hand. Looked like rolled up burning newspapers
No but one time I made eye contact with a fellow who was dropping a deuce right on Wilkens Avenue, and he looked at me like I was fucking insane. So basically the same experience as OPs
Lmao where on Wilkins? There's been many instances of this between Mount and Brunswick all the way down Wilkins! Back in "15 I was touring a house on monroe and Wilkins and when I looked out the back windows there's was some young guy with hella gold on (presumably a "dealer") face fucking some much younger girl (presumably an "addict") right in the backyard/alley... it's a strange area over that part of town. Anything goes type shit from what I remember of it.i saw some terrible things 10x wore round there. Haven't been round there in several years at this point. Glad too.
lmfao, it’s where I grew up. Right in front of St Benedict’s. Can confirm, it’s anything goes. I saw it go from being lots of generational families to being totally annihilated by the Crack Bomb in the 80s and 90s, to what it is today
I was in San Diego out front of the Hotel del Coronado walking towards the main entrance to the hotel and a woman about ten steps ahead of me turned between two parked cars and pinched one out just as I walked by. She looked right at me from about four feet away with her skirt at her knees like I was doing something wrong. I mean it’s like a car accident when you see that so suddenly it’s hard to look away in time.
damn, I saw that guy and assumed it was a 1-off thing. something should probably be done before the dude starts someplace on fire. not exactly sure what to do. maybe reach out to city councilman for their advice? non-emergency intervention call? idk.
Yes! I usually see him around the Meyerhoff on Maryland Ave. He’s carrying burning newspapers. Speaking from experience, I wouldn’t try approaching ♥️

I see him at Calvert and Redwood area. One time he had the torch burning in one hand and an umbrella in the other to protect the torch from the rain.
Or was he protecting the rain from the fire??!!

I've lived in Mt.Vernon for almost 4 years and never seen this! Now I have something to keep an eye out for, like neighborhood Wheres Waldo.
My husband took this photo of him a few months ago. [Same guy?](https://imgur.com/a/wbqxgP9)
Husband here. This is on S Howard St if that helps. I took this from the sidewalk outside CFG Arena on May 9th.
Yes! I saw him Friday right next to the courthouse
I saw a man on the side of MLK doing fancy yo-yo tricks a few weeks ago

This is where I see him regularly when driving to work in the morning. Scared the hell out of me the first time!
paging u/m_wriston edit: tagged the wrong person
May I ask why because he hasn't posted in 10 years
that would be because I tagged the wrong one! Whoops
I saw him on my bike yesterday. A fellow pyro I assume
Yes! I’ve seen him 2-3 times in the spring near 10 Light street. Usually in the morning as I’m leaving the gym.
I have seen him, and my husband has seen him more times than I have. He is most likely mentally ill. I think he may be doing his version of smudging?
Can we give him some rosemary or sage to burn with that bundle? Lord knows we could use a little energy clearing .

It's amazing how fast a neighborhood can go down the toilet!

Right??? Like I wasn’t trying to peep this man’s drop off but my brain couldn’t make sense of what was happening

Yup I’ve seen him at the bus stop on Saratoga and charles
If it’s actual twigs, maybe he's smudging the place. 🙂 https://sweetgrasstradingco.com/product/sage-smudges/
Did not look or smell like sage but for sure could have been a cleansing burn of some kind.
You saw a ghost
In posting this here, I did have a sincere concern that this might be the case
