You know, I'm not gonna lie...I didn't realize we actually grew watermelons in Ontario. I legit thought they were a subtropical fruit...

Harris Farms on George Johnson Rd. had them last summer.

RealTrad

Barrie Hill usually has red and yellow flesh. I think around late July

I mean they aren't local and they cost an arm and a leg(when not on sale) but Sobeys has some amazing watermelons right now. The staff in the produce department will even halve it for you, if you want to see inside. They wrap it so you can take it home without it leaking. I've been waiting on local ones as well, but last year they cost me more than the supermarket ones, so I'll take what I can get.

I would love to get some good local watermelons too. Like 80% of the watermelons I come across in stores are just mediocre or straight up terrible. Although last week I did get 2 decent ones from Farm Boy for $4.99 each. I will admit though that I didn't have high hopes for them. I had to dig through the box to find them, as a majority of the ones I grabbed felt soft. Bought two different varieties from Centra before that and they were sooo bad. Money down the drain. Hopefully Harris Farms and Barrie Hill Farms have them next month. I had a look on both their websites and neither mention watermelons anywhere though.

Yeah I didn't see it mentioned on any local farms, unless you go to South Ontario.
