When I started, I started with my favorite player of my favorite team.
I don’t think it really matters how you start though.
How I typically wear jerseys is during the season, I wear my favorite teams jerseys and during the off-season and summertime I typically wear favorite players or favorite jerseys.
And if I happen to wear an alternative jersey during the season, I typically don’t wear that jersey if my team is about to face them in the next week or so. 🤷♂️
tbf i just want to kind of just get one so ill probably go with my favourite team but some of the retro ones are really nice like the mcgrady magic one always catches my eye
In my honest opinion you should figure out why you really want to buy a jersey, and that answer should help you.
Purely style - a neutral colored or flashy retro depending on you
Team support - obvious answer
Player support - if he played for multiple teams pick your best memories
Other - screw it, find the best prices and coolest jerseys and see what happens. Money is made to be spent.
Most teams have multiple colorways. Pick one that goes the best with what you normally wear. For me, I’m a sneakerhead who runs hot in the summer so my jerseys typically go with my shoes in some way. Subtle shoes with a louder jersey, loud shoes with a subtle jersey, or color matching if it looks good (think bulls outfit with Chicago Jordan’s)
It’s all fashion bro. And it’s an expression of yourself. It’s a Jersey at the end of the day, it’s always going to be considered causal wear so have fun with it
I have a Duncan jersey. Or an all black Kobe jersey with light yellow accents. Both go with most.
If you like the Tmac go with Tmac. You can also get some decent Tmac shoes brand new for like 50 bucks on eBay - retro’ed. I just got a pair delivered like three days ago. They’d match your fit perfectly
My first ever jersey was a Doncic Mavericks jersey. I bought it because he had played in my favourite team, Real Madrid, and we loved him so much here. Then, the pandora box opened and began buying more, so don´t worry. My advice, buy the jersey you like the most overall, I even have more than 4 Luka ones and even some Lakers as a Celtics fan
Honestly whatever catches your eye and is most versatile in style and size. I like mine oversized and thrown over White Tees or hoodies. Im from chicago and my first jersey was a Wizards jersey from 99. I just liked the look and colors. White with marine blue trim / black n gold. After that 1 I came to the conclusion that I needed several Bulls jerseys and decided Id cop a red swingman and soon after a black team nike from 05. The addiction is down hill from there for me... lol i started just months ago and i dont know why I cant stop. Ive even returned a few purchases because of how picky Ive become over quality .
