Cane is made up of tiny tubes. It might have been dry on the outside, but not on the inside. Those reed containers don’t get airflow. Reeds gotta breathe. Definitely throw that in the garbage.
Moisture + lack of airflow.
Very important that reeds are dry before storage and that their storage container allows airflow. If you don’t have a dedicated permanent reed case, use a thumbtack or pin to poke ventilation holes in the tubes reeds come in.
Throw that shit away. YOU HAVE ORGANIC LIFE GROWING IN YOUR REED. Or bug egg. Also- did you say “year”?!
Yes but they didn't play it when they first got it.
Ohhhhhhhhh gotcha. I thought you mean they played on this reed for a year.
Whatever it is, it’s probably a good idea to throw it out
Please mark NSFW because this reed...😭💀
That looks like insect eggs of some kind....

He's got a point, had a reed i thought was dry, it wasn't on the inside, my reed didn't have ventilation holes, that thing rotted in a week
Flavor.
I like your way of thinking
NOOOOO

Most likely it is a fungus and the little spots you're seeing are the fruiting body of the fungus.
I dont know, but throw this away before you create a real-life The Last Of Us
I don’t want to know

Haha, I just love how triggered people are by this. I request a follow-up with macro photos.
Don’t store in the plastic tubes. They need a cart that allows air flow. This is mold. It may have looked dry, but it wasn’t.
As Jeff Goldblum says in Jurassic Park: life, uh, finds a way!
Don't even open the vial. Toss directly into trash.
I'm not a woodwind player, but that shit looks horrible af
ngl im scared, looks like mold though. it's fuzzy and looks like it's in water
Burn it
They didn't have a proper reed case is what happened
Fungus/mold grows really well on old wood, it’s probably that.
Whoever said fungus is probably right. In future, they should buy a reed case. Those containers are for shipping only
Mold. Equation: Time reed has sat in water+not changing said water+not cleaning said cup= this Also throw it out
There was no water in the container. That is plastic at the bottom. It just might not have completely dried before he stored it.
