Why is this even a question? Without a doubt I and many fans would watch a movie about our favorite acrobat. Nightwing deserves his own film and video game.
I can’t imagine anyone who knows who Nightwing is *not* wanting a Nightwing movie.
Like I wouldn’t really love a Red Robin movie but Nightwing? That’d be awesome
I’d love a Red Robin movie. I’d like one for every Robin, and I honestly don’t see why they tried to hard to make a Marvel style universe without them when it’s just *easier* to use the Robins. There’s no scrambling to justify team ups when you could just establish the Batfamily and then say “This Nightwing movie has everybody in it because they’re his family and he texted the group chat.”
You don’t even need to do an individual origin for them. You could do it like the first ten minutes of Up (or Watchmen, I suppose) and show Dick at the circus, then cut to him as Robin, a bunch of snapshots ending with him storming off. Then you get Jason stealing tires, doing Robin stuff, blowing up, and there’s Tim lurking in the background at his funeral, then Tim as Robin and so on all the way up to Damian showing up. You could probably get that done in about six minutes and there’s your universe set up so now we can get straight into it. That way, all the casual Batman fans get looped in and you can give them all origin prequels later on, where their relationships with other heroes is established, and *then* you do your big Justice League/Titans/Outlaws movies. Obviously I’m biased, but Gotham is the best place to start if you want a DC movie universe that works, and the Robins are a crucial part of who Batman actually is so it’s baffling that they keep ignoring them.
It would basically be a Batman movie with a generally lighter atmosphere and less of a severe tone. Could throw in a romantic interest like Zatanna or Starfire which would be rad cause they are awesome characters unlikely to get much in the way of a solo movie. I could see it doing pretty decent, he's not the most well known hero but he's definitely not a random side character and his solo comic series was pretty successful from what I remember.
Video game especially. With the current state of the Arkham franchise let's go to Bludhaven for an open world game, draw liberally from both Nightwing and Batman's rogues gallery and have the traversal system tied to his acrobatics. It would basically be an Arkham City/Knight clone and I'm all for it.
I would. But only if it were faithful to the character and it wouldn't shy away from using Batman and DC.
Basically, I don't want a "Venom" or "Morbius" version of Nightwing that is completely disconnected from everything that makes Nightwing work.
I don’t think Batman should be a very important point in a Nightwing movie, or at least not the first one, it’s important to present him as independent at first because when he’s in Blüdhaven he is a solo hero.
I’d personally adapt the Dixon’s runs premise, Batman sends Nightwing to Blüdhaven to investigate a string of murders by Blockbuster, the kingpin of Blüdhaven’s underworld. The plot would be Nightwing targeting Blockbuster and dealing with Blüdhaven’s corrupt police while gradually growing attatched to the city and deciding that it needs a protector like Gotham. Batman can be a plot driver but he shouldn’t be a major player or he will end up being more important than Dick because he’s Batman. The only batfamily characters that I’d incorporate heavily would be Oracle (tech support) and Huntress (semi-ally he has to deal with due to her more brutal way of handling things) and maybe Tim Drake as Batman’s sorta messenger.
Nightwing can and should stand alone from Batman (and the Titans for that matter), he can be his own street level solo hero in Blüdhaven and he should be established as that before he does any major team ups imo.
Do it like Incredible Hulk (2008) style and mostly keep Batman to a cameo establishing the beginnings, then strained relationship between him and Richard in his “Robin” years.
The plot you described is perfect. I agree that Batman can be a plot driver but not a major player at all.
I just meant that I don't want a Nightwing origin movie about a family of acrobats from Blüdhaven known as the Flying Graysons. One night, the mafia kills the family but Dick survives so he takes on the mantle of Nightwing. With the help of a cop that was left paralyzed, which he names Oracle, together hunt down the mob boss. Ugh.
At this point, I'd watch *any* movie that acknowledged that the Robins are different people.
I hate how in almost every movie or show, it's always either just Robin, or it's a monstrous amalgamation of Dick, Jason, and Tim, with the name Dick. Like... Hell, Damian is my least favorite of all the Robins, and I'd watch a movie -live action or animated -of him at this point. Two hours of Dick, Jason, or Tim? Or hell, miracle of miracles, we may only dare to hope... *all three*?
A Robin squad movie would go so hard. Like, have little flashes at the beginning of each of them as Robin, then show them grown up and under their new identities, just hanging out, being bros, going on patrol. Like a buddy cop movie, but *better*
Get Babs in there too, cos someone needs to be the responsible one. Maybe bring Steph and Cassie in for a bit. Never show Batman, until the very end, where he introduces his new Robin, who also happens to be his son.
Imagine a series of Batman movies where, instead of focusing on Batman fights Rogue #53, if we had Bruce Wayne learning to be Batman, finally taking a singular night off with Alfred’s prodding and going to the circus. He watches the Graysons fall, and brings Dick home. We see Dick turning into Robin, learning, and Bruce adjusting to being a parent, and Batman learning how to have a sidekick.
Another movie, and it opens with just Bruce and Dick voice over, of the last fight . We see Batman going through a few night, trying to adjust to being on his own again. Then he comes back and finds Jason. He takes Jason home, and we see Jason becoming Robin.
Next movie, we get the voice over of Batman benching Robin over Felipe, with shots of Bruce drinking, and Batman breaking criminals. Then we see Tim Drake show up at the manor, and we realize we've seen this boy before in the second movie. We see him pulling Batman back from the brink, and the two of them adapting.
You could do an entire series of movies off this, and make comic fans day, instead of Batman punches meta, Batman has sad, look at tiny Bruce watching his parents die for the 90274th time
Depends on who wrote it and stared in it.
If you asked me if I would watch a Peace Maker series before 'The Suicide Squad' I would have said no. The Peace Maker series was excellent.
After "Madam Web" I'm hyper cautious about wasting time on unknown directors / writers / Dakota Johnson.
Yes, but i don’t think it would ever happen as your average movie goer probably won’t know who he is, but I guess that hasn’t stopped them from making movies like Shang Chi and Blue Beetle so who knows
ABSOLUTELY. Grayson is one of the best DC characters out there and it's about dam time he gets his own movie (and add a post credit scene with the Teen Titans waiting for him).
For real? It was widely reported as being in active development for a while, 'til the DCEU got shitcanned.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightwing#In_other_media
Yes!! Nightwing Year One would be the best model to follow. It’s not the best story but it has all the important parts of his life. The movie or show should end with him getting off the bus in Bludhaven. Everybody important in Dick’s life is in that story for great cameos.
Yes. Although Dick doesn’t really have that big of a rouges gallery. The main ones are Deathstroke and Blockbuster. And that’s it. You could *maybe* count Talon and Tarantula.
It would depend on who he's up against. His design and backstory demand something along the lines of the Burton Batman--dark, but heavily stylized--and his foe(s) should have some kind of "down, but not out" element that would give them a reason to be in Blüdhaven instead of Gotham. Killer Croc, Baby Doll, Ventriloquist, even Jason Todd would be good antagonists for such a story.
I'd prefer a dark-for-kids (think the way everyone says 80s kids movies were too dark and freaky) Dick-Robin origin movie in the Reevesverse, but I'd take Nightwing.
Yeah a first year story of him adjusting on his own in bludhaven without batman could be really cool if done well. Throw in a superman cameo for a flashback to show how Dick got the name Nightwing.
All of the professionalism and heroics of Batman with none of the angst and borderline personality disorder. Hell yes! And please include a quick, almost hidden Burt Ward cameo, please, for the original comic book sidekick and avatar for every kid before Spider-Man.
I think I would be on board if they wrote it correctly and we got the origin story. That could be an interesting spin off from one of the films that were already made preferably Christoper Nolan s version or the original.
Yes. I think the show Titans did it right showing the relationship between Dick and Bruce. Some Batman, but more fatherly billionaire genius support or angst.
The real question is if you could get a general audience to watch this guy. I don't think they would his not popular enough, and unless you get a really good scriptwriter making his backstory interesting , he just won't cut it.
Not without proper build up, like getting some Batman movies linked to the movie in question in advance. However, if it's DCAU then I'd be happy to get that regardless of build up or not.
I thought they were making one a long time ago. I thought it was gonna be a Dark Knight spinoff with Joseph Gordon Levitt. That would have been sick af
I would love a Batfam movie. Or just Batman and Robin, but good.
Start the film with Haley's Circus, the Flying Graysons. Doesn't have to be a long scene, just enough to establish Dick is an acrobat and he lost everyone too. Show him meeting Bruce Wayne, getting brought in, and finding out about Batman, the Cave, all of it.
Then you do a training montage, cos having an actual kid do the stuff Robin does, even with all the safety gear, probably isn't going to be easy to film. So you do a bunch of short sequences, show him in the suit, training, out in the field. Try and get some iconic shots of the Boy Wonder. But then bring it forward, to the day Dick decides he doesn't want to be Robin anymore. He's older, more experienced, and wants to branch out on his own. He has a book with some design and name concepts (gotta get the Discowing suit in there). Bruce is proud of him of course, but a little sad he won't have his partner.
Then it just follows Dick as he learns to be on his own, getting his own suit, making a name for himself as protector of Bludhaven, occasionally helping Bats out when needed.
At the end, you have Dick and Bruce sat on a rooftop, chatting. Bruce is asking how it's going, saying how proud he is. Dick starts to reply but they get distracted. Down below a young boy with black hair is trying to steal the wheels off the Batmobile. Nightwing and Batman drop down next to him. Cut to black, that's your set up for a sequel involving Jason, you're basically printing money.
My kingdom for a big budget Nightwimg movie instead of yet another Batman reboot.
(and by kingdom, I mean 4 Rubbermaids of action figures and 11 long boxes of comics).
At this point I'd much prefer a Robin/Dick movie than another Batman film (and I really enjoy the Bat films). Titans is a show fraught with problems, but S1 made him extremely interesting to me, it would be great to explore that story/psychology on a more profound level. What's it like growing up with a maniac like Batman as a father..
No.
I have no interest in most of the bat family.
I hate Robins. Except Starro.
Batgirl can be good.
Batwoman can be good.
But Knightwing and the rest are utter bores.
It would end up being an origin story, hard pass. Don't need to see half a movie about his parents dying in the circus and then most of the movie as Robin and then the final scene is him changing costumes.
I feel like a stand alone movie wouldn't do well cause not many people actually know the character Nightwing outside of already established media I think we would need a Batman movie where it ends with Robin becoming nightwing and transitioning into a Nightwing sequel
Of course. This is a batman subreddit we're all big fans of Dick. ...Grayson
I'm proud of you dick
… yeah. Definitely just with the Grayson…
Fans of dick And nightwing too
Lol easy tiger
I love Dick…Grayson.
Was he ever refered to as Richard, Rich, or Rick?
God I sure do love Dick… Grayson
I’m a big fan of Dick Grayson’s Dick
Nightwing: "First time I heard that one before..."
We love Dick, Grayson.
Would we be called big Dick {Grayson} fans??? LOL
I’m proud of Dick… Grayson 🤢

This gotta be someone from DC in secret trying hard to advocate for what the fans actually want to see 😅😅😅
It would basically be a Batman movie with a generally lighter atmosphere and less of a severe tone. Could throw in a romantic interest like Zatanna or Starfire which would be rad cause they are awesome characters unlikely to get much in the way of a solo movie. I would. Bedside the movie.
Hell yes, I just read the first comic to Tom Taylor’s run and loved it, I want to see it adapted.
Been wanting that for years!
Yes.
YES
Only if it's full of Dick.
The only proper response
Without a doubt
At this point, I'd watch *any* movie that acknowledged that the Robins are different people. I wish we were all hyper cautious about wasting time on Dakota Johnson.
\*YES\*
Hell yes
Yep
Yes, we are all so proud of Dick
Grayson?
Absolutely
Bro yes obv
Yes but it would HAVE to mention that he's got history with batman
I find it strange that this movie hasn't been made already.
Of course ppl would, silly question. Though I won't watch it if they don't title it. "Dick"
Done right he's a Batman with a Spider-Man sense of humor. What's not to love. Hell yeah
Nothing would stop me I NEED to see my big glorious Dick on the big screen 😍
Dark and gritty yes
Yes
Oh absolutely
Yes, but i don’t think it would ever happen as your average movie goer probably won’t know who he is, but I guess that hasn’t stopped them from making movies like Shang Chi and Blue Beetle so who knows
Does a bear shit in the woods and wipe his ass with a fluffy white rabbit!?!!????!?
Im suprised we haven't had one
We almost did. 😞
Sure
Hell yeah
Yes, but as a spin off. Like we get a movie maybe 2 of dick as robin before he leaves and becomes nightwing.
Obviously. We've had plenty of Batman movies, we NEED a Nightwing movie.
I don't know a lot about nightwing and that is why I would want a movie. I'm tired of reboots. Let's see some new content.
Yes
Absolutely!
I would like a movie with Nightwing and Damian as a duo without batman or the others
Absolutely
Still waitin for that Batgirl movie, so YES
Only about a million times.
100%
100%
Yes.
Absolutely. Even if it means making it a canon based plot on how the story goes.
Fuck yeah
ABSOLUTELY. Grayson is one of the best DC characters out there and it's about dam time he gets his own movie (and add a post credit scene with the Teen Titans waiting for him).
I would pay so much money to see Dick Grayson on my screen.
100% yes. Kind of funny that DC's third oldest hero (after Batman and Superman) is as "niche" as he is.
Of course!
Yes
Of course, I love Dick, it’d be cool too see some big Dick action on the big screen
Of course, as a huge batman fan, I only care about his children and villians
Yes and a Batman Beyond too
Batfamily movie series with a solo spin-off for each of the robins' adult identities would be cool but it'll never happen lol
Yes. If they keep woke garbage to a minimum.
My favorite dc character of all time. I’d like a movie faithful to his character and not w.e. Weird Dick Grayson we got in the Titans
Mmmmaybe if DC can unscrap the batwoman movie they were working on
Absolutely. Brother Blood and his cult as the antagonist would be a nice change from Batman's rogues too.
Honestly, I'd watch any superhero movie if the script was good, told a unique story, and was not a DEI seminar.
Several times
Yes, of course.
Yes; unfortunately, DC doesn’t have the best track record overall.
![gif](giphy|W37DwINWPFeYtaErMl)
That's all I'm waiting for
The real question is why does this movie still not exist? Never even heard a rumor...
Hell yeah, I’d be down to watch that in a heartbeat! I’ve been wanting to see one for years.
Depends on writer/director/cast. I don't watch anything just because this or that character is in it.
As long as it doesn’t pull a Venom…aka pretend that Batman doesn’t exist.
Dumb question.
Yes. Although Dick doesn’t really have that big of a rouges gallery. The main ones are Deathstroke and Blockbuster. And that’s it. You could *maybe* count Talon and Tarantula.
Hasn't there been a Nightwing movie in the works for years now?
Yep
It would depend on who he's up against. His design and backstory demand something along the lines of the Burton Batman--dark, but heavily stylized--and his foe(s) should have some kind of "down, but not out" element that would give them a reason to be in Blüdhaven instead of Gotham. Killer Croc, Baby Doll, Ventriloquist, even Jason Todd would be good antagonists for such a story.
Man, I watched Pinocchio 3000. So I’ll watch anything.
As long as they don't make gay.
Obviously
Batman doesn't do cameos.
God no
Yes. And Batman Beyond.
Is Chris O'Donnell too old to play him now?
Yesss
Why wouldnt i ?
Hell yeah, dick is dope
I'd prefer a dark-for-kids (think the way everyone says 80s kids movies were too dark and freaky) Dick-Robin origin movie in the Reevesverse, but I'd take Nightwing.
Another chance at a Batfleck cameo 🥹!?!?!?
No
Yes actually
Great character, I would definitely give it a shot.
YES
It depends. If the actor has a good a$$, then obviously :-P. Seriously, of course. I love Nightwing.
I'd watch it if it was good, like I would any movie. If it's great I'll watch it.
I'd be proud of Dick if he pulled it off
Yeah a first year story of him adjusting on his own in bludhaven without batman could be really cool if done well. Throw in a superman cameo for a flashback to show how Dick got the name Nightwing.
Nah. I wouldn't. After the last couple of batmans, I'm done with the franchise.
I like Batman because he’s *badass*; I like Nightwing because he’s *fun*!
I'll watch almost any superhero movie given that you can't make a bad one unless you're an IDIOT.
I would
Nightwing movie yes, but the Dick Grayson story is one of the best comic book stories and deserves to be told from the ground up as Robin. Edit: typo
All of the professionalism and heroics of Batman with none of the angst and borderline personality disorder. Hell yes! And please include a quick, almost hidden Burt Ward cameo, please, for the original comic book sidekick and avatar for every kid before Spider-Man.
Yes
What make Nightwing Nightwing if you forget the Batman connection?
Oh absolutely. Especially if its like 1 or 2 years into being Nightwing.
Nightwing is one of my favorite DC characters. I’ll make a fortune and make the movie myself if WB doesn’t get on it😭
A Nightwing movie would be like a fusion of a Batman and Spider-Man movie and I'm all for it.
Abso-freaking-lutely. Dick Grayson is my favorite superhero and has been since I was in single-digits.
A Cassandra Cain or Jason Todd movie would be nuts
Depends how they make it, like the dark knight tone..then yes. If on the other hand they decide to go Batman and robin style camp…then a hard pass
If it's done properly. There's been a lot of let downs recently.
I think I would be on board if they wrote it correctly and we got the origin story. That could be an interesting spin off from one of the films that were already made preferably Christoper Nolan s version or the original.
Who’s nightwing
Depends on the reviews
Sure. Then do a drinking game to how many times they say "Dick"
Yes. I think the show Titans did it right showing the relationship between Dick and Bruce. Some Batman, but more fatherly billionaire genius support or angst.
No
Of course. I can’t wait to see Dick on screen
Since the MCU has been busy shitting out half baked cash grabs it would be a breath of fresh air if DC dropped a movie like this.
Dick is one of the Hardest characters I know. Down to watch it grow; at the box office.
Yeah. I don’t know much about him, but I imagine it maybe being kind of like Daredevil? Street level, focus on action and fighting, etc.
What do you think?
I would have started the new DCU with an Nightwing v Deathstroke movie. It would establish a TON of canon that you could retcon
The real question is if you could get a general audience to watch this guy. I don't think they would his not popular enough, and unless you get a really good scriptwriter making his backstory interesting , he just won't cut it.
Yes
Without question
God yes. He is the backbone of the Bat family.
Yup !
Ah man can you imagine a neo noir Nightwing movie with a subtle synth soundtrack
Yes
Absolutely, yeah.
Fuck to the hell yes
Whoever they choose as the for the role must have a great ass. It's a mandatory requirement.
hell yes
Given the right cast and crew, I would be more excited about a Nightwing movie than another Batman movie.
An animated movie could go hard
I would love a Batfam movie. Or just Batman and Robin, but good. Start the film with Haley's Circus, the Flying Graysons. Doesn't have to be a long scene, just enough to establish Dick is an acrobat and he lost everyone too. Show him meeting Bruce Wayne, getting brought in, and finding out about Batman, the Cave, all of it. Yessssssss
Depends, we need a good arch nemisis for Him first though
In a hearbeat
My kingdom for a big budget Nightwimg movie instead of yet another Batman reboot. (and by kingdom, I mean 4 Rubbermaids of action figures and 11 long boxes of comics).
100x yes
I believe if Zack Synder was still DC I think we would have seen Nightwing!?! I have been waiting years for a Nightwing movie!
Animated, hell yeah. Live action, I'm not sure anymore. DC films have been so bad for so long I might never get around to watching another one.
Thought we were getting a Joseph Gordon levitt one
No. I have no interest in most of the bat family. I hate Robins. Except Starro. Batgirl can be good. Batwoman can be good. But Knightwing and the rest are utter bores.
Tough to beat 'Titans'
Done correctly, yes. Tim Burton universe though
It would end up being an origin story, hard pass. Don't need to see half a movie about his parents dying in the circus and then most of the movie as Robin and then the final scene is him changing costumes.
Hell yeah
Of course
Literally there’s is NO comic character I would nott go to see in theaters. Try me. lol
I feel like a stand alone movie wouldn't do well cause not many people actually know the character Nightwing outside of already established media I think we would need a Batman movie where it ends with Robin becoming nightwing and transitioning into a Nightwing sequel
Robin from the teen titans go trying to get his movie off the ground
Ummm yeah!
Of course.
Hell yeah
