For me it’s good morning. I totally get why within you without you is your least but it’s genuinely one of my favorite Beatles songs and probably my favorite George song. I feel that song is hit or miss with people because I often see it ranked really high or really low.
Also might have chosen good morning because it used to be my alarm clock song. Word of advice, never choose a song you like to wake up to because you will grow to hate it.
The Monkees used it to wake up to in their final episode ‘The Frodis Caper’. Just the beginning “Good morning” part of the song.

It used to be Within You Without You because it’s too long, but now I listen to it and enjoy all the different instruments and sounds. She’s Leaving Home always made me sad, but I kind of find the “bye bye” parts humorous so I laugh. I was listening to the album today and remembered in the post of overrated/least favorite songs and someone was exasperated because Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite! was just John reading off a poster and I cracked up. We all know the inspiration, but it was just funny how they said it.
Honestly? Recently I’ve been skipping Lucy. I’ll listen to the album all the way through a couple of times before I start skipping songs.
I agree within you without could be a hard listen but I love it. The way it builds throughout the song makes the last “life flows on within you and without you” line hit you like a train that immediately fades into a million rose petals. One of my favorite songs.
It's disappointing to see all of the Within You Without You dislike...not only is it my favorite off of Sgt. Pepper's, but it's my favorite Beatles song. Too many people hiding behind the wall of illusion and never glimpsing the truth (that it's the best song 😉).
With that being said, my least favorite is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise). Great little reprise and transition into A Day in the Life, though!
If that's too obvious, then it's probably Good Morning Good Morning, which is still a fantastic song! That orchestra is so intoxicating as is Ringo's drumming. It's time for tea and meet the wife!
But gosh, the entire album is beautiful. Some of their best melodies and harmonies in the entire catalogue only rivaled by a select few off Rubber Soul, The Beatles, and Abbey Road.
This album pushed music as far as it could be on a 4 track recording no less. It is insane what they did with the studio and it took them till Abbey Road and a more modern recording setup to even go back to a more polished sound full time.
Agreed. Was surprised I had to scroll so far down to see this one. I like the song enough, but have always felt Mr. Kite was the skip on the record. WYWY used to be a skip as well, but as I got older it’s grown on me. I think the Love remix using Tomorrow Never Knows rhythm section really opened my eyes to how good WYWY is.
- WYWY could mean "Within You Without You - Remix", a track from *Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Super Deluxe Edition)* (1967) by The Beatles.

Yeah, it’s “Within You Without You”.
Sure, it adds the richness and beauty and mystery of Indian music to western rock and roll. But it’s also kind of a slog, and George’s preachiness works best in small doses.
She’s Leaving Home or Getting Better for me. If those two songs were replaced by Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever, I’d consider Sgt Pepper the greatest album of all time.
In terms of Beatles albums? For me it’s a tossup between Abbey Road, Revolver, and Magical Mystery Tour. I love most of Pepper, even some songs that everyone else dislikes (Lovely Rita, Good Morning, Within You Without You) but those two really kill it for me.
I was more curious as your greatest album of all time because I found it interesting that you have pepper up there but not as no 1, assumed you’d have a good one at no 1 even if not Beatles. And yeah all great albums and I can absolutely get not liking those songs off pepper. Now if you said a day in the life sucks I’d just have to say your wrong but those songs are toss ups depending on ones musical preference ya know.
A Day In The Life is amazing! For my general favorite albums of all time, I think all these albums are better than Pepper:
Radiohead - Kid A, OK Computer, In Rainbows
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
Kanye West - Graduation, Life of Pablo
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Daft Punk - RAM
MCR- Black Parade
LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid Maad City, To Pimp a Butterfly
plus the three Beatles albums mentioned above. I also don’t think Rubber Soul or White Album are in the same tier as “greatest of all time” albums, but (and this is probably a hot take) I do still enjoy them over Pepper.
Maybe I overexaggerated a little how much Pepper would shoot up if Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were on it. SFF is my favorite Beatles song so it would certainly help put it at least in the same tier as the other Beatles albums I mentioned.
When I first listened to the album, my least favorite was “Getting Better”. I used to think it was bland, but I’ve recently come around to that song in the past couple of years to the point that I enjoy it.
Nowadays it’s “When I’m Sixty Four”. I like the song fine, it’s just the song I listen to the least, and I don’t go out of my way to hear it unless I’m listening to the full album experience.
I'm with you on this one! Annoying monotonous drone & the song goes on wayyyy too long
Best thing is at the end when the laughter starts
That's how I feel about this song
It's become Lucy after being Lovely Rita for decades. The remix of Rita has some of the best sounding drums on the album now and the song is better for it. Lucy is just a very un-dynamic song. Verse Verse Chorus / Verse Verse Chorus / Verse Chorus / Outro. It needs a trippy bridge or something to change it up.
I actually did appreciate the vocals on the Lucy Remix. Giles restored the original mono flanging and the vocal extends more than the original mix smoothly (the girl with kaleidoscope eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyes).
On this record, several of my least favorite songs were listed right after each other: Fixing A Hole, She's Leaving Home, Mr. Kite, Within You... Annoying, boring, average. This album is not one of my favorites at all.
For the Benefit of Mr. Kite. I don't hate it and I like the texture it brings to the album but as an individual song I don't feel that strongly about it. Within You Without You is actually my second favorite Pepper track.
It’s so strange. I love ‘Within You Without You’, so it definitely isn’t my least favourite one. However, It’s such a typical George Harrison song.. It should be replaced by ‘Penny Lane’ and ‘Strawberry Hills Forever’. And ‘Within You Without You’ would better fit on Abbey Road, in between ‘I Want You’ and ‘Here Comes the Sun’.
For me, Mr. Kite. Interestingly when I saw Paul McCartney in concert a few years ago, he performed this song. I thought: of all the Lennon songs to perform, he picked that one? It felt very weird but he and his band did a good job with it.
Edit: I don't dislike the song, it's just not my favorite. In retrospect I think it was John's take on some of the throw-back style songs Paul was doing (what he called Paul's granny music).
When I’m 64 is such a bad song. It has its moments but def should have been on MMT and replaced with just about any song on that album. Or it’s all too much would have fit sgt pepper so much more. Paul’s granny music has not grown on me lol.
Probably good morning. It’s still a good song tho.
Great bass line in the song. Very strong
Great Paul guitar solo too.
Paul’s solos were always frantic and all over the place. George was fluid and smooth.
Classic Ringo tone on that one, though.

Mine used to be "wake up" and I still love that song.
Tedeschi -Trucks does an amazing instrumental version of Within You Without You.

Yeah, Within You Without You for me too. And to everybody hating on Lovely Rita, I hope you get a parking ticket.
Within You Without You is a top 5 Beatles song and you cannot change my mind
Love the enthousiasm, would you be mad if I change my answer to Mr Kite?
Slightly, but much less so
Same, just because it’s a little boring, and I prefer love you to and inner light, which seem like it’s sister songs

Within you, without you.
Being For the Benefit of Mr Kite. It’s a great song and record, but over the years has become a bit tiresome.
Agreed. Was surprised I had to scroll so far down to see this one. I like the song enough, but have always felt Mr. Kite was the skip on the record. Ermm….ok.
Yeah, it’s “Within You Without You”. Sure, it adds the richness and beauty and mystery of Indian music to western rock and roll. But it’s also kind of a slog, and George’s preachiness works best in small doses.
Within You Without You it isn't bad but boy it doesn't fit the format at all all the other songs could plausibly be done by the same band
She’s Leaving Home or Getting Better for me. If those two songs were replaced by Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever, I’d consider Sgt Pepper the greatest album of all time.
What’s ur greatest album of all time? Mines pepper but these songs would absolutely solidify it.
In terms of Beatles albums? For me it’s a tossup between Abbey Road, Revolver, and Magical Mystery Tour. I love most of Pepper, even some songs that everyone else dislikes (Lovely Rita, Good Morning, Within You Without You) but those two really kill it for me.

People dislike Lovely Rita?? omg…it can’t be the song itself, maybe they dislike that Paul invited Pink Floyd in to watch that recording session.
When I first listened to the album, my least favorite was “Getting Better”. I used to think it was bland, but I’ve recently come around to that song in the past couple of years to the point that I enjoy it. Nowadays it’s “When I’m Sixty Four”. Sgt. Pepper is a perfect album and I love every song on it, but I guess if I had to choose, I would pick Lovely Rita.
Same pick. I don’t find it at par with the musical genius in the rest of the album. But still, a fantasies song it is.
When I’m 64
She’s Leaving Home, for sure
Several songs - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Getting Better, Lovely Rita, Good Morning
Good morning. The saxophones completely lose me.
Agreed
Same—I almost always skip it. It’s All Too Much or even Only a Northern Song would have been a far preferable choice, imo.
1. She’s Leaving Home is amazing 2. Worst song is When I’m 64 or Lovely Rita. Both bland filler songs, arguably the latter more
Either Within You Without You or Good Morning Good Morning, can't choose between those two.
I'm with you on this one! Annoying monotonous drone & the song goes on wayyyy too long Best thing is at the end when the laughter starts That's how I feel about this song
Fixing a hole or shes leaving home

When I’m 64, no question.
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and She's Leaving Home. Only songs I don't like on the album. They just don't do it for me.
Good morning good morning would be a lot better without the horns. I find them really obnoxious.
When I’m 64. The most granny of Paul’s granny music songs.
No, that is Maxwell. When I am 64 actually has some merit.
64 is grannier than Maxwell
Within you without you is one of my faves on pepper , it's an epic moment in that album , getting better for me .
When I'm 64 for sure.
Either Lucy in the sky with diamonds or When I’m 64
Lucy?!?
On this record, several of my least favorite songs were listed right after each other: Fixing A Hole, She's Leaving Home, Mr. Kite, Within You... Annoying, boring, average. This album is not one of my favorites at all.
She's leaving Home.
For me it’s Lovely Rita. Good work by Paul but filler
Sgt Pepper 1
Good morning.
Mr. Kite
For the Benefit of Mr. Kite. I don't hate it and I like the texture it brings to the album but as an individual song I don't feel that strongly about it. Within You Without You is actually my second favorite Pepper track.

The lock groove, but I like it as well. Go ahead and celebrate the hate though
Within you without you is my favorite song of all time so I say Lucy in the sky is the worst

Probably Good Morning Good Morning.
Within You, Without You. Boring and dreary.
Good morning good morning i know its a pretty common answer but im a common beatles fan
Lovely Rita.
When I’m 64. I think it’s a great song
"Good Morning Good Morning".
She's leaving home
Getting Better
Fixing a Hole (imo the only bad song on the album)
She's Leaving Home. Too syrupy.
