Looks like it’s just the combination of your hair texture and the length of it. If you cut it above your shoulders or grew it past them it would likely stop
That is exactly how it is with me, up to shoulder length it flicks out ( all through school life) and when I grow it past my shoulders it gets a loose curl in the end as though I have blow dried my hair( I love it).
Eh, I’ve got that flick out, and it seems to be there no matter the length, though def more prevalent if I blow dry it after a *deeep* cleansing wash (which is usually after not cleaning it properly for a week or more because I’m doing something ~adventurous~).
This! It happened with me too when I had this hair length but when it was shorter (above my shoulders) and after they grew out(past the shoulder length) it just stopped.
Obviously different people have different hair, but over quarantine I grew my hair out and it was about halfway down my back, it still curled just like that even tho it was far longer than shoulder length
My hair does this too. As the others have said it's the length and texture. But to add to that, my hair takes heat like instantly (people always overcurl my hair because they expect the curl to drop but it doesn't). Your body heat from your nape/neck curls up the ends of the hair where it's thinnest and exposed. Ie it won't stay straight. While you wait for hair to grow, you can try putting some more texture/wave in it higher up.
I personally think it looks really cool and unique, I don't think much can change it till it grows, it's basically being turned up because it's hitting your shoulders
That is one of my go to hair styles. I have the long shag wolf and I often have the entire thing flipped out.
Your hair looks healthy and thick and lovely.
I have a friend that suffers from hair loss and she started Rogaine when she was 40 and it made a noticeable difference.
My friend went to a doctor first and ruled out some of the main causes of hair loss in women (low B12, low iron, thyroid issues) before starting applying it daily. 15 years of using Rogaine later and no one would say she looks like a person with thinning hair.
I actually tried rogaine as well for a bit over a year but unfortunately I didn’t respond to it:( Started taking oral minoxidil a few weeks ago, hopefully I’ll see results in a couple of months🤞🏽so happy for your friend!!
Good luck with the oral Minoxidil! You’re privileged to live in a country where you can get. It’s not approved for oral use in the Netherlands, or at least that’s what my dermatologist tells me.
I used a combination of topical minoxidil, spironolactone and a steroid and tretinoin. It was all in a formula combination vial. I think it worked really well but ultimately my hair loss was from a medication so I was able to discontinue using it.
Ah fellow Scandinavian here! 🇩🇰 Hej med dig!
I hope you have a way to keep up the treatment when you go back to 🇳🇴 for when these treatments show results you have to keep using them in order to maintain it. Lykke til!
This is *your* hair in the photo? I thought it was a model! It's beautiful!
I know it doesn't help, but it looks great that way. It's very chic. It looks like you should be holding a baguette and hurrying home in Paris. No joke, you look French.
I envy your hair. I mean you. For your hair. Lol
My one hair stylist told me it's basically a type of curl pattern. My ends always flip no matter the length. If I flat iron them or blow them out with a round brush they'll just flip again hours later. My stylist told me not to fight it lol
I did blow dry them under when I had a bob but it was a lot of work. Now I usually just wear them in a feathered or shag style.
Mine flipped in a chin length bob, a pixie and even at waist length. There is just no controlling my ends 😂 On the plus side I think the flipped ends look cute.
Mine flips too no matter the length, but only one side! It’s definitely more prominent when my hair is this length, but right now it’s past my collarbone but still flipping on one side :’) it’s something I’ve disliked about my hair since middle school!
Same here, its because of the length. The only solution is to grow it out, it took me 3-6 months until the flick went away...
In the meantime wearing it in curls or waves helps to even it out. Look up heatless curls. Or you can make it dead straight with a straightener and totally kill your ends, but I wouldnt recommend that lol
Mine does this but I was able to get it to curl under by experimenting with the angle I blow it dry. One side will curl under if I blow dry the ends forward and under (as if the ends flipped toward my shoulders) and the other side will curl under if I blow dry the ends towards my face, as if I was putting it on a roller towards my cheek)
I actually intentionally style my hair this way so that it flicks out. But when I do want it to be more straight or curved in, I use a concentrator on the blow drier and make sure to point downwards on the hair when using it with a round brush [kinda like this](https://www.hair.com/dw/image/v2/AANG_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-hair-us-Library/default/dw8c36446d/project/loreal/brand-sites/salonsecret/americas/us/article-pictures/jessie/blow-dry-weekend-header.jpg?sw=480&sh=200&sm=fit&q=70)
When my hair was this length it always did this no matter what I tried. The only thing that worked for me was getting a cut every 4 weeks or growing it out. I grew it out. It’s waist length now. Definitely doesn’t do this 😂
A few people have suggested using a hairdryer with a round brush. As an alternative, I find a rotating hot air styler also works to make it turn under like a bob.
Or, to save time, I use large Velcro rollers while I’m driving to work then spend 5 minutes styling it after I’ve parked. I use an edge brush and TIGI bed head wax stick to smooth the flyaways for a very polished, professional look.
This is exactly the reason!
Funny how easily hair curls on its own sometimes but when I use a curler + hair products, my hair gets poker straight in 30 minutes. It's like hair has its own mind.
Same thing happens to me. It’s that weird point between short to mid hair.
I used to hate it but now I kind of love it and I feel cute about it as you should.
Better this than heat everyday, just a little bit of patience and it will grow.
Like others have said, it’s the length. I love it on you but hate it on me… it’s the reason I can’t stand having hair that short, even though I like the look of it otherwise.
The curl at the end also shows healthy hair, because dead/fried hair is very straight without nice bend.
In the 50’s and 60s it was popular to curl the ends of your hair to achieve this flipped up effect! To this day a lot of people and celebrities will have the ends of their ponytail flipped up like this. It’s a beautiful look and I hated to get a Korean perm on the ends of my hair to achieve it! :) you’re lucky!
If you blow dry your hair after washing, you can also use a round brush to make the ends of your hair flip more inwards, and there are other styles you can achieve depending on your preferences.
You're technically supposed to use a round brush with blow dryer when your hair is already 90% dry, so whether or not you use a lot of heat during the week, this adds minimal heat to your routine. Use a heat protectant and a light styling cream or styling product that adds shine and reduces frizz, and that aligns with your hair type
Ugh mine do that too and similar length. But it’s probably because I cut it myself, too short (it was fairly long before), after going wild “trimming” all my split ends. Part of it is the length and part of it may be the way it was cut.
It also may be the way it is cut? If you have layers on the outside, it may be curling up around them. Maybe talk to your stylist about small layers underneath for it to curl around?
I think it looks nice! Do you let your hair air dry? Mine tends to take this shape when it’s air drying and I use a round brush to either straighten it out or curl it the other way 😊
It’s the length etc etc.
People literally dry their hair a certain way or curl it to get it to flip up though - I’m super jealous. I wish my ends flipped up.
It’s funny how we all want what we don’t have because when I cut my hair the same length as a kid, I was devastated it didn’t do this. I think it looks so adorable!
I have the same hair, the grow it longer tip didn’t really work on me it keeps doing it long or short. You end up getting used to it.. there’s no way to keep it straight at the bottom!
Looks like the layering as well
I used to have this issue and now I ask for a blunt cut at the ends, and also sleep with my hair in a gentle bun, inside a little silk bonnet (just for the bun, not the whole head)
Have thicker looking ends from the cut and the perfect subtle curl too
When my hair was that length the same thing would happen to me and I hated it. Now that my hair is longer, it doesn’t do it… but now I purposely flip my ends with an iron lol
my god!! I was trying to figure out why mine does the same as well. I'm so happy to see I'm not the only one with this thing going on. mine is straight in the front and flicks out wherever it touches the shoulders and the back, since it is longer in the front, as I grew it out from an A line bob. patiently waiting for it to get longer. 🤞
oh, as a solution to this I braid mine in multiple small braids to get loose waves, I've found out that mine can luckily hold this style all day if done well!
I just got past this phase myself. I also just air dry and don't have a straightener. I would shower at night and braid/twist/double bun my hair overnight and force my hair to dry in a different style that wasn't so 70s when it's down. Good luck :D
This is so cute on you but I feel like Jimmy neutrons mom when it happens to me 😭it could be the way your hair grows and the texture, the solution for me was to grow it past my shoulders since I don’t like heat styling too often.(I’m lazy)
My saloon recommended that I cut my hair into layer to fix the problem then later when it grows longer, you can cut it all the same length but below your shoulder area. I hope my explanation can be understood. English is not my native language.
I have hair thats a little longer than yours and I use my revlon hairdryer brush to flip them out like that 😂
Shoulder length hair always flips out like that for me. You just have to grow it out a little more!
My hair does this when they cut my hair a certain way. If they blunt cut my hair or if they use the thinning/texturizing shears, it flips every time. Also if they flip it out between their fingers while they’re cutting. I noticed in my area it has a lot to do with level of stylist. Your hair looks cute but, if you’re like me and it’s bothering you or you want to be able to both, the above may be the fix for next time. To everyone saying it’s the length, I disagree as I’ve had this style quite a few times and had it do this with one stylist and had it from another whom it didn’t. The difference was the above. My only advice to try to get it straighter without a straightener is either using a paddle/straightening brush or a way smaller barrel than the revlon dryer brush.
Good luck and it really does look cute, I totally wouldn’t worry one bit.
Thinking shear: I will not let those things near my head end of story lol…..If I need thinning as some hair or sections (sometimes our ends) do, a talented stylists can do the same with their regular scissors and it wont cause the same effect. Keep in mind a stylist who picks up a razor or uses there scissors like one will have the same effect too.
Use a straightener and when you reach towards the ends, do C curls inwards.
Also, maybe it is only flicking outwards because youre at shoulder length. A little longer and maybe it wont happen anymore
It's your haircut. The little guide hairs at the perimeter of the hair need to be shorter that the outside hairs. Your shoots should have you out your chin to your chest when cutting the back and your ear almost to your shoulder when cutting the sides to cut it properly.
I'm a hairdresser who specializes in cutting hair.
I think it looks really cute on you! Would you consider getting a perm to make your hair wavy overall? I do that because for me, one side flicks out and the other flicks in…sigh
I know you’re looking for advice but just wanna say people literally intentionally curl their hair to have it like this! It’s super cute ! But yeah may just be the thickness and density of your hair plus the haircut. Hair chemistry science stuff lol
It’s where it was cut in your hair, do you have wavy or curly hair? Even as it grows out it falls in one place in your wave pattern. I had this happen recently with a bad haircut and a good one fixed it
I have this same issue! On days I'm not able to iron it, I blow dry my bangs dry and only the rest of my hair until it's damp. Then while it's drying I messy my hair while waiting for it to dry, then it at least looks almost intentional (shag). Not as good as my iron, but it does the job, in fact I did that today :)
I love it! It looks like Gillian Anderson's hair [here](https://x.com/GillianA/status/952971940813246465/photo/2), which I tried to replicate when I was younger and failed.
It looks good!! But okay since it’s not the look you’re going for now, have you tried hair straighteners? Go for the salon grade ones (I use ProEdition). Gets it done in a jiffy for me and I loveee having my hair curled inwards.
I do use straighteners every now and then and it works! But I’m trying to find some other methods now so I don’t completely fry off my ends🥹 although apparently adding texture should help so maybe I’ll start doing more overnight curls!
My hair is the same length, I have very fine hair and I feel like this gives it some oomph. Your hair looks really beautiful! I wish mine was as frizz free and shiny!

It's super cute. When my hair was that length it flicked to the same side so one side flicked out and one side flicked in.
This is what my hair does, too. It's mildly infuriating.
Same. Nike swoosh hair
why was i considering short hair until this comment reminded me of my reality
I was just talking to my hair dresser about bobs. She said noooo. Only some hair types are wash amd go
that’s a great hairdresser frfr
Me too! My hair does this regardless of length, even when I have a pixie lol.
Idk. My hair does the same thing no matter the length until it hits about mid back
My hair does this too though ever since I cut it chin length. When it was long, it didn’t do it at all. What gives?
It’s the length of your hair. You can either grow it out or cut it a few inches shorter.
Yep. Mine does the same at this length and I hate it.
Sameeee
Yup. It's the shoulders pushing the hair up. It either needs to grow past or be cut above.
Avatar twins :)
Mine is just past my chin and flips out still I hate it lol
My hair does this too. As the others have said it's the length and texture. I wish my hair would do that. It’s so pretty
Yeah I try to style my hair like this but idk why 😭
For the Nancy Drew vibes
Saaaame.
I’m always putting my hair up in a low bun and it makes it do this
I have it and personally I hate it because it looks so 60s but to each their own!
Exactly. Mine does this and I call it the Mary Tyler Moore.
😂😂😂
i have it as well, don't like it on myself on other people it's giving 2000s rom com :')
This is caused by the length. Your hair is resting on your shoulders so the heat from your body is making them curl upward.
This. My hair stylist said as soon as your hair touches your shoulder it’s gonna fly away
Thank you for saying it’s the heat from your shoulders. I never would have thought of that
That is one of my go to hair styles. I have the long shag wolf and I often have the entire thing flipped out. Your hair looks healthy and thick and lovely.
Hah, this actually means a lot to me🥹 I have alopecia so my hair is super thin especially on top so I basically never get compliments on my hair <3
I have a friend that suffers from hair loss and she started Rogaine when she was 40 and it made a noticeable difference. Thank you!! It’s not approved in Norway either (where I’m from) but luckily since I study in London I got it prescribed from my dermatologist there.
I used a combination of topical minoxidil, spironolactone and a steroid and tretinoin. It was all in a formula combination vial. I think it worked really well but ultimately my hair loss was from a medication so I was able to discontinue using it.

I do this style too
Yep, same! This is how I style my hair regularly. For my face, I think it looks cuter than curling it under or straight.
That girl.
It’s really pretty! Some people would do this as a style, you got yours effortlessly!
My hair does this, too. It's just the length
My one hair stylist told me it's basically a type of curl pattern. My ends always flip no matter the length. Echoing what others said - It’s the length! Either cut shorter than shoulders or let it grow out.
Wait two months, mine was like this asw (but i loved it, its so cute!!) and then it doesnt so it anymore when its js a little bit longer
When my hair was this length it always did this no matter what I tried. The only thing that worked for me was getting a cut every 4 weeks or growing it out. I grew it out. It’s waist length now. Definitely doesn’t do this 😂

But the conair one with the *rotating* function works better.
i’ve got the same thing :(
It's because of your shoulders. Can't grow straight into them, either straighten it or cut or grow it out
Omg I love this look
You either have to cut your hair shorter or grow it out longer to change that. It's because it rests on your shoulders and flips
This is exactly the reason! Funny how easily hair curls on its own sometimes but when I use a curler + hair products, my hair gets poker straight in 30 minutes. It's like hair has its own mind.
Luckyyyyy! it’s so cute!
Same thing happens to me. It’s that weird point between short to mid hair. I used to hate it but now I kind of love it and I feel cute about it as you should. Better this than heat everyday, just a little bit of patience and it will grow.
I love it!
My hair is longer (mid back) and still does this, drives me crazy -.- Blowing it out or straightening is the only remedy for me.
Like others have said, it’s the length. I love it on you but hate it on me… it’s the reason I can’t stand having hair that short, even though I like the look of it otherwise.
i had this happen to (south east asian) my hair is now past my boobs and it is much easier to manage than when my hair was shorter
Mine does this too, but only on one side. I'm hoping that growing a little more will fix it.
Yeah mine too, one side flicks in and the other side flicks out. Sadly I like this length on me so I always have to straighten it.
I like that look too. It looks casual, like you're not trying to hard.
The curl at the end also shows healthy hair, because dead/fried hair is very straight without nice bend. In the 50’s and 60s it was popular to curl the ends of your hair to achieve this flipped up effect! To this day a lot of people and celebrities will have the ends of their ponytail flipped up like this. its the length mine did the same when they were short. never done it again when having long
It also may be the way it is cut? If you have layers on the outside, it may be curling up around them. Maybe talk to your stylist about small layers underneath for it to curl around?

I think it looks nice! Do you let your hair air dry? Mine tends to take this shape when it’s air drying and I use a round brush to either straighten it out or curl it the other way 😊
I had the same issue, I just let it grow 😩
You all are SO SWEET!!🫶🏼 Will try to just rock it until it grows out or try different tools, thank you for all the compliments and confidence 🥹❤️
It looks cute ☺️
My bangs are doing this and I hate it lmao Good to know its because of the length
I’m obsessed with this look and yet to recreate it with a curling iron daily
It’s the length etc etc. People literally dry their hair a certain way or curl it to get it to flip up though - I’m super jealous. I wish my ends flipped up.
Wish i was you
It’s funny how we all want what we don’t have because when I cut my hair the same length as a kid, I was devastated it didn’t do this. I think it looks so adorable!

Just your hair length and texture. If you cut it or let it grow more it should change. I think it looks good!
I like it, I think it looks pretty.
Looks like the layering as well I used to have this issue and now I ask for a blunt cut at the ends, and also sleep with my hair in a gentle bun, inside a little silk bonnet (just for the bun, not the whole head) Have thicker looking ends from the cut and the perfect subtle curl too
My left side does this lol
This is the combination of ‘long layers’ on hair that’s anywhere around shoulder length
When my hair was that length the same thing would happen to me and I hated it. Now that my hair is longer, it doesn’t do it… but now I purposely flip my ends with an iron lol
I love it
Remove your shoulders and you won’t have that problem.
Not a hair stylist but my stylist says it’s the cut. I actually like the flick because of my face shape and she cuts it to go out.
This is why I can't cut my hair above my shoulders, unless I do a super heavily layered shaq cut
Girl, I pay good money to achieve this 💁🏻♀️
It’s cute tho
Mine does that too ,even when I dry it under , so annoying
ghibli tattys
I’d kill for this!
People do this on purpose!
🤞 oh, as a solution to this I braid mine in multiple small braids to get loose waves, I've found out that mine can luckily hold this style all day if done well!

I have the opposite problem 🙃
Even if you straighten it?

This honestly looks so cute
It looks beautiful. I suggest, keep it.
as someone else said, i think its just a combination of your hair texture + length. i actually find it very cute 🥹
My hair does this when they cut my hair a certain way. If they blunt cut my hair or if they use the thinning/texturizing shears, it flips every time.
It sits on your shoulders and has to go somewhere.
Have you tried large Velcro rollers?
Because it’s touching your shoulders
My hair does the same naturally, but I do keratin straightening and it fixes it for a while, 3-4 months
I love it! It looks like Gillian Anderson's hair [here](https://x.com/GillianA/status/952971940813246465/photo/2), which I tried to replicate when I was younger and failed.
Ahah thank you🥹
I know you don't like it but if I had your hair I'd just accept it, the 90s are back!
I dig it. It used to be in style, it’ll come back and you’ll be trend setting !
Ahh feel free to update us here!!
My hair is the same length, I have very fine hair and I feel like this gives it some oomph. Your hair looks really beautiful! I wish mine was as frizz free and shiny!
It’s fantastic though.
The octopus hair! I personally love it :)
Omg what?? I wish my hair did that naturally! It looks super cute from what I can see.
I like it lol
It’s so cute!
Cuteee! I thought you were asking how to get your hair to flick out like this at first.
I love that look.
Very cute
That’s the worst hair length ever go shorter or longer
Get a keratin treatment to straighten it.
It’s the cut, long layers on the outside will make your hair flip like that, if the layer is on the inside then it’ll curl down towards your neck.
Humbled?! You can't be expecting the world to pay your way and still be humble. Humble is getting a job.
