The Monstera! The hydrocotyle! The ferns! The Anubias nana petite! The way the wood sticks out and plants dwarf it!
I'm in love. It's beautiful. That's a dream tank right there.
If dwarf papyrus is like *Papyrus alternifolius* then you should be able to propagate them by cutting and placing a stalk upside down in water. I trim off all but 1" of the leaves. Good luck!
Looks amazing! I just set up a little 6.8 gallon shallow tank for my guy… doesn’t look nearly as good as this!! Stupid question- how are you holding up your monstera cuttings? I want to put some in my tank but the only way I can think of keeping them erect is wedging them between rocks?
Hi! Yes, you’re correct. I just stuck it between some driftwood and some rocks. It does quite well there and even formed a new leaf!
I did the same with the dwarf papyrus. Since the emersed plants have unlimited access to to CO2, they tend to do quite well.
On the jumping out - it looks like a decent part of the tank is covered by leaves ect which leave little room for him to escape if he did jump(plus the leaves plopping him back in is probs going to suck less then a solid hunk of plastic) , plus if a betta has space & good water & feels safe & no threats & no ladies to try and get to +with they really don't have triggers to jumping. It's still a risk it's something the fish was made to be able to do and have the instinct to, but you've mitigated alot of the compounding factors(I'm assuming your water is good and you don't scream at him with a giant hand mirror dunked in the tank lol). I'd maybe put something even just to cover an inch or so from the edge on the more open side but that also largely my snail induced paranoia then lessons from bettas
This setup is breathtaking. I love it. If this was in my house, I’d stare at it all day long.
Also peep the extra support beam on the bottom of the stand 🥹 great job OP. Kudos to you!!!!
Absolutely stunning!! I have the same tank with a similar inspiration, lots of emersed plant growth and riparian style plants for a betta that shares it with some chili rasboras and yellow neocardina shrimp! I love yours, it’s so dense and lush. I’ve had mine set up for about 3 months now and am excited to watch it continue to grow in! Do you watch the YouTube channel SerpaDesign by chance??

Ah supernice! Love your tank! Is that a calanthea on the left and right side? Im thinking of getting one for my tank. Yes, i follow Tanner on YT, he’s a great guide for these riparium themed setups. Thank you for the kind words!
I actually prefer your tank to OP's, though both are stunning. The concentration of light in the centre, changing to shaded areas on either side is just sublime. Just enough tannins to make it look like a small slice of nature. I absolutely bloody love it!
ugh I would love to do a similar set up but I’m a newbie, are there any YT videos you recommend with tutorials? how long were the plants established before you added livestock?
Hey! Try ‘betta tank shallow’ as a search, videos like [this](https://youtu.be/4oLCHZPwcK0?si=SaRG40ixJpcfEVSL) may help you out. I’d did a fishless tank cycle for 4-6 weeks, the standard stuff.
I don't even have a fish (I bought a tank and have been cycling it for 3 months) and I came across this page to see if I can do a betta. I want you to know your setup is breathtaking. I keep staring at it. Even showed my fiance
Haha thats nice to know! Hopefully your SO can appreciate it too, i know some people whose partner doesn’t allow a tank in their living room. Luckily mine does! 😀
Thanks! Plants are in the description, substrate is ADA amazonia soil, though it is more for cosmetics than actual plant growth. Only the hydrococtyle is in there.
This is a really impressive tank - congratulations! Can I just check - all the plants are either partially or completely submerged in the tank itself? There are no pots or containers behind the tank for the larger species like the papyrus or the Monstera? You don’t find the root growth excessive for the water space?
Saving this post as inspiration, what a dream tank!! I’m loving the terrestrial plant assortment you have going on, all the different textures make it so eye catching! ❤️🌱
My only thought after wow that’s gorgeous was is that papyrus and pennywort in there?? I personally don’t like cutting plants back regularly and those two are known to be invasive.
That is so beautiful!! However, depending on your baby's temperament, I'd recommend a lid or even some sort of net over those open areas - mine is a jumper lol
Thanks for the rec, luckily mine is not a jumper. Had him for over 2 years now, so i’m not too worried. I’ve had some wild betta’s which definitely wouldn’t have been suitable for this setup.
I’m tempted to buy an alien betta from my LFS but he would probably end up on my floor the first day in lol.
I’m based in the Netherlands so not sure if this is helpful at all, but all these plants are readily available in most fish and/or houseplant stores over here. I’m sure its the same overseas!
"1st attempt guys, how did I do?"
The first attempt:
My friend this is beyond good. It's incredible. Is godly and Devine. Your Betta has a nicer home than I could ever dream of having.
Honestly, it’s super easy. I don’t really do water changes, only top-off the evaporation. I prune weekly, which i find relaxing, and do some light scrubbing of algae with a toothbrush when i feel like it. Other than that, i’d say this is probably one of the easiest tanks i’ve had to upkeep. I feel like the plants (and shrimp) do most of the work for me.

That is quite possibly one of the most stunning and beautiful setups I've ever seen!
If I had the time, and disposable income, and the space in my house, I would LOVE something like this! Great job!
Ah thanks man! It wasn’t cheap, but also not that expensive really. The tank itself and LED both were around $100, the rest i gradually assembled at garden centers and local fish stores.
I’m sure you’ll find your way to a similar setup! 👍
That is a show stopper, completely stunning. I could enjoy looking at that for hours and have saved this post so I can come back. Very well done and thank you for sharing.
Hi all 👋
After a little wile & maybe just little rusty I'm about to venture back with a Fluval Flex 57l
Fully planted

Fluval Nano Light

Kept Discus yrs back but boy how things have changed 😳!!
Never gone all out on plants ether thats without the Co2 😳!!
I'm on at home Palliative Treatment & just want something of interest in my bedroom & keep my brain from ceasing up 🤣!👍!
If Anyone has Any tips or ideas, I'm happy to learn....... Fast 🙄!🤕!🤣!......
Graham.
The Monstera! The hydrocotyle! The ferns! The Anubias nana petite! The way the wood sticks out and plants dwarf it! I'm in love. It's beautiful. That's a dream tank right there.
Thanks! 🥹
so many tiny details to appreciate, stunning!!
The long stems in the back are dwarf papyrus, if anybody wonders
Oh, this is good to know! I just planted these in pots outside as annuals. Maybe at the end of the season I’ll transfer them to my tank.
If dwarf papyrus is like *Papyrus alternifolius* then you should be able to propagate them by cutting and placing a stalk upside down in water. I trim off all but 1" of the leaves. Good luck!
This is so cool 😭
It’s freaking gorgeous! Are you at all worried about him jumping out? All of my bettas have been jumpers!
This one has not made any attempt in the 2 years he’s with us. So i decided to take a chance and put him in this setup. So far so good!
Awesome!

I aspire to be you when my tanks grow up!
🥲
More plants! Just kidding. It's glorious.
😅
I knew someone was going to say this 🤪

Maybe some clear plexi glass attached with silicone? I like using floating plants as a lid for my Betta
Gorgeous!!! Both the tank and your betta! 🥰😍 Also love him peeking out in pic 11 haha
This setup is breathtaking. I love it. If this was in my house, I’d stare at it all day long. Also peep the extra support beam on the bottom of the stand 🥹 great job OP. Kudos to you!!!!
Ha, good catch! I put it there just to be sure, wasn’t sure if a vintage cabinet from the 70s would be a safe bet. Thanks for the kind words!
Damn I hope I come back as your betta in the next life
Will save you a spot! ☺️

This is literally gorgeous. You did amazing omg 😍
Beautiful!! All the plants look healthy and full which makes that beautifully white betta stand out all the better!!
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Omg stunning! Did you just put the monstera root in there?
i love this! great minds think alike :)
Hey! Checked out your tank just now! Loving it!
What are the clover looking plants?
I think you mean the submersed ones? Hydrococtyle tripartitia
I love this! You are gifted at aquascaping OP!
Goal tank !
This is so cool
This looks awesome! I'd love to be a little betta in there 🤭
What a lovely planted tank!
I love it! I must try for my next project
It’s gorgeous!
Just set my uns 60s up last night, and ordered a betta for it. The vibe I wanted was "shrimp mountain"
Please do a tutorial!!! This is STUNNING!!! Can you tell me what the tallest prickly plant is? Also what substrate and what kind of shrimps??
Thanks! Plants are in the description, substrate is ADA amazonia soil, though it is more for cosmetics than actual plant growth. Only the hydrococtyle is in there.

GORGEOUS!! This is my dream tank, beautiful job 👏
Very nice! I love this setup

Aww thanks! Yes, i do love the aesthetic of emersed plants in a tank. I like to think i pulled it off this time ☺️
I can tell you dont have a cat lol. Looks awesome though. My only thought is to add a light for him as I feel like the plants block most of it
https://preview.redd.it/nj6z71cu2e7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a02aa617fb17ecad9a8c01cc270abafb8979944f She’s not a threat lmao
Omg I love this! What are all the plants?? Edit: just saw the description haha
r/PlantedTank will love this
It’s like an actual man made little mangrove! So so so so so beautiful
I'm not a fish but I want to live in that tank. Best thing I've seen all year
This is absolutely stunning
Tf?!? How do humans make such masterpieces?!? GG - VERY nicely designed!!! (^betta ^Is^and ^forever ^will ^be ^the ^happiest ^betta ^in ^the ^world!!)
Looks like a piece out of nature literally.
Umm, like super fucking well
Can I be your betta
watch out for some little critters, put some cinnamon sticks around there so you don’t get a whole bunch of unwanted bugs
My only thought after wow that’s gorgeous was is that papyrus and pennywort in there?? I personally don’t like cutting plants back regularly and those two are known to be invasive.
Can i live here
how did you *NOT* do??? damn!!!
It looks amazing!!! But *man*…. Would my cat just have a fucking field day with a low tank 😭 so jealous
That is so beautiful!! However, depending on your baby's temperament, I'd recommend a lid or even some sort of net over those open areas - mine is a jumper lol

Bettas jump. It's all good until it's not.
Amazing tank; be careful with the water level as bettas can be jumpy.
This is the most magical, fae forest, I’ve ever seen. I need info on plants, how it works, what you need to add. I am a huge noob!
Quick question.... where did you get your plants from??
I’m based in the Netherlands so not sure if this is helpful at all, but all these plants are readily available in most fish and/or houseplant stores over here. I’m sure its the same overseas!
Link to the tank? The entire set up is gorgeous! 😍
[Here](https://buceplant.com/a/amp-1/products/uns-60s-10-gallon-ultra-clear-rimless-aquarium) ya go!
Thank you so much!
Beautiful!!
Are any of these plants wild? I recognize a lot of these from natural waterways in my area. The lime green, fern-like one especially.
They might be. I bought all of em in garden centers and local fish dealer.
Do you have a filter? How often do you have to prune? The plants are gorgeous and the white beta is beautiful!
Thank you! Just a simple sponge filter. I prune weekly, especially the peace lily and java moss.
Simply put amazing!!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love it!! I’m a huge fan of riparian growth and this looks amazing
oh my godd gorgeous!!
Thanks so much! ☺️
It looks so nice even I want to live there.
I’m in Europe but hey, feel free to stop on by! 😀
Any excuse to go back to Europe!
Haha! We would love to have you! Welcome anytime!
I LOVE it!
Bloody beautiful, mate!
This is exquisite...
beautiful tank
It looks great. It must have cost a fortune
This is the definition of chefs kiss *mwah*
Beautiful! Do you have a lot of natural light? What light is that you are using?
Plant list?
This is like winning gold at the Olympics and asking if you qualified to try out to make team (insert country here) lol
This is amazing! I bet your little beta boy is one happy fish.
Thanks! I like to think so!
"1st attempt guys, how did I do?" The first attempt: My friend this is beyond good. It's incredible. Is godly and Devine. Your Betta has a nicer home than I could ever dream of having.
What are those puffball firework looking plants called?
This makes me miss owning betas...but my cat is a fish killer. Every dang time 😭 💔 this is gorgeous though!
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFULLLLLL
Loveeee this 😍
Very sick! Is there enough natural light for all these plants?
So jealous!!! I want one of these so bad but don’t have the space! Yours is beautiful and I bet your boy is living his absolute best life! 🤩
☺️ That was the plan! He’s very happy indeed!
Gorg!!!!!
Genuine question : How much effort is it to upkeep something like this?
Honestly, it’s super easy. I don’t really do water changes, only top-off the evaporation. Other than that, i’d say this is probably one of the easiest tanks i’ve had to upkeep. I feel like the plants (and shrimp) do most of the work for me.
How do you clean that??

that is one lucky fish
Maybe some under water spot lights? I wish I could see more but it's gorgeous! Goals for my 20 long
It's missing an oversized bean bag chair. Otherwise, nicely played!
Very nice! My dream is a sorority in a 100 gallon lowboy
If I were a betta fish, I'd want to be in this tank.
***jealousy intensifies*** It’s so beautiful 😭
You succeeded.. in making me jealous
I used to have a similar set up but had to take it down when moving. This makes me miss having tanks so bad
Dream setup for him well done.
Bruh... I'd live in that fucking tank. 😍
Glorious shrimp heaven! Love it.
Def put a lid on it or bestie is gonna Juuuuump
Love shallow tanks, looks like an absolute jungle, love it!
* furiously scrolls through photos * where is the BABY!! Beautiful tank, beautiful fish 🥰
How do you keep the small friend from jumping out of such a paradise?
Oml, I dream to have a tank setup like this one day... Amazing job op!
Stunning!
OH MY GAWD I LOVE IT !!!
This is beautiful 🤩
omg! Its beauty and perfection takes my breath away. Well DONE! LUCKY Beta.
Wow that’s amazing!! I could just look at that all day!🥰
It's so so good! I love it
Oh it's lovely! May I ask what type of plants you have in there? The ones growing out of the tank?
That is gorgeous.
It’s absolutely beautiful…… but, are we scared the betta will leap 🥴
That is a show stopper, completely stunning. I could enjoy looking at that for hours and have saved this post so I can come back. Very well done and thank you for sharing.
Thats one lucky betta
Beautiful!
Wow this is a dream tank!!!! Nice work and lucky betta!
"how did I do?" Knowing DAMN WELL that tank is fucking awesome!!!
These are the kinds of tanks I love the most! It’s like an exhibit at the aquarium
That is beautiful. Is it freshly planted? How long did it take to get to this point?
I think it took 3-4 months to grow in. Although the asparagus fern, dwarf papyrus and monstera cutting were added a bit later.
Your betta woulda given you a medal if he coulda
Gorgeous I’m for sure envious
Starting to tempt me to buy myself a new hobby. 😩 I’ve now subscribed to the sub after a few weekly posts popping up in my feed.
Forget the betta, can I live here instead?
Dayum
Saving. Amazing
Wow this is incredible op
OMGGG
Oh I absolutely love this!!!!! You did amazing 😻
This is so beautiful!
Frickin gorgeous
Gorgeous! And thank you for listing the plants.
That’s beautiful! You get to enjoy your plants and the betta has a gorgeous home. Didn’t have the shallow tank custom built?
Nah its the UNS 60S.
Looks amazing
looks stunning
oh it's so brilliant
Teach me, please
When I see these gorgeous tanks it makes sense why mine committed suicide by jumping out when I had a shit tiny no feature tank as a child.
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I love the way it’s natural and pleasing to look at
I adore this!
I'm jealous, beautiful use of the tank! I love the detentions of the live plants on top, I'm sure your Betta is a very happy boi!
Looks good but also, seems like too much no? Seems like some of the plants are probably taking up unnecessary swimming space
