Well you see, he found another Cordak blaster, and he had a choice to make.
He chose TWO HANDS!
Other than using the lore reason I have no idea, maybe to save cost on new molds.
the lore reason, iirc from the books, was that when he changed from toa inika to toa mahri his weapon changed into something silly, and he was like "meh, the guns are better than mellee weapons anyway" and so the legend was born
he actually got a sword but dropped it for the blasters. reason: two hands. theres also possibly the fact that they wanted to keep him distinct from lewa and his more melee ~~weapons~~ tool by giving him a more ranged focused ~~weapon~~ tool choice (his og toa tool was a crossbow)
I guess? I can do it just fine on mobile and I did it like that on desktop to demonstrate the formatting, but yeah it's a lot easier on desktop where there's just a button for it instead.
It's so funny to me that we went from a humble hatchet, to a pair of katanas, to a pair of falchions, to a hardlight crossbow and high calibur anti-mind control handgun, to a pair of Warhammer 40k bolters, to a saber and high calibur hardlight battle rifle, to a shield and gun that fires fruit, and finally to a poison coated scythe with an integrated fruit gun. The green guys were truly crazy-wild.
Probably after getting his specialised weapon he played around with it in the tank but when the kordak blasters came down and he saw there was one extra so he took it cuz 2 is better than one
Meta reason: the Mahri (and Barraki) were deliberately designed as dissimilar as possible in the wake of previous waves being rightfully criticized as clone sets.
His original Toa tool had no abilities to it- likely indicating that it was hard to utilize with his elemental ability- and so he discarded it. He also found that he *could* channel his powers through the Cordak blasters, so not only was it likely easier for his power usage, but also he got a dual air jet for underwater propulsion. Currently, however, he does wield another yet unknown weapon, as the mission the Mahri went on required some stealth (which the blasters were too bulky and loud to compose).
See, each Toa Mahri weapon got upgraded
Jaller sword turned into a Sword
Nuparu drill turned into a shield
Kongu badass crossbow turned into a lame small dagger so he threw it away.
Technically he did. When Nuparu found the Cordak Blasters he took two of them favoring them over his current weapon. When the others questioned why he said he had two hands so he might as well. I guess it also makes up for his mask of summoning, which he is scared of.
I think it was the toy makers who thought that the blaster looked like a mini gun and wanted to make an 80’s action hero looking guy who’s dual wielding these machine guns. I think they chose the green toa because these action heroes typically wear green camouflage and a big Rambo looking Toa would’ve looked good to attract the kids who have no idea what the lore is about. This plan somewhat worked because I got Kongu for a friend’s birthday and he had no idea about anything happening in lore, but he thought Kongu looked cool.

His torso was a new mold
He reached his allowance for new molds.
That's probably what the designers were told.
What was the lore reason ?
Two hands
Simple, but right. Thanks đź‘Ť
Right and left
the lore reason, iirc from the books, was that when he changed from toa inika to toa mahri his weapon changed into something silly, and he was like "meh, the guns are better than mellee weapons anyway" and so the legend was born
I'm sorry I can't hear you over the sounds of DUAL MINIGUN DAKKA BBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
He needs more dakka
never enough dakka
Make sure to paint them red so they shoot faster
Loyalty until death. Strength in unity.
Love finding random planetmen in the wilds.
He had one... but he decided he'd rather be the coolest motherfucker in the matoran universe instead
This is the right answer
"Double the gun, double the fun...." "Is this your revenge for not getting the mask of flight?"
He had one, but when they found the Cordak blasters he threw it away so he could dual wield.
Like a boss
Is there a comic depiction of it?
I think it's only mentioned in a book.
Unfortunately not, it happened in one of the books.
Book only.
He decided to go full Akimbo
Two hands.
Because he is heavy weapons guy.
And those are his guns
It costs 400,000 studs to fire these blasters for 12 seconds.
x2
By Mata Nui, who touched Le BoomBoom? All right… WHO TOUCHED MY CORDAK BLASTER?
Some Makuta think they can outsmart me. Maybe. Maybe. I have yet to meet one that can outsmart a stud.
"WAAHHH! *WAAAAHH!!"* **AAAAHAHAHAHAHAH!! *CRY SOME MOOORE!!!***

You use two of these ~~ to get the line-through effect btw
~Like this?~ Hmm. Nope.
Two on each side, should've been more specific. \~\~Like this.\~\~
Oh it’s another one of those “fuck mobile users” things
I guess? I can do it just fine on mobile and I did it like that on desktop to demonstrate the formatting, but yeah it's a lot easier on desktop where there's just a button for it instead.
Oh weird, I can’t see it on ~~mobile~~ Edit: oh woah there it is
Wasn't Jaller also supposed to have two swords as a Toa Inika?
Hahli got 2 weapon/accessory molds instead. My man is built with old molds on the cheap.
He gets his very own torso too (at the time at least)
He missed being able to dual-wield firearms like he did when he was an Inika.
"so anyway, I started blasting"
"Bam, Bam, but I don't look so good"
It's so funny to me that we went from a humble hatchet, to a pair of katanas, to a pair of falchions, to a hardlight crossbow and high calibur anti-mind control handgun, to a pair of Warhammer 40k bolters, to a saber and high calibur hardlight battle rifle, to a shield and gun that fires fruit, and finally to a poison coated scythe with an integrated fruit gun. He didn't want to weapon-vary, he just wanted to shoot-fire.
He gangsta

Because he blastin!
More Dakkkkaaaaa!!!!!
he got his own torso
He IS the weapon
Because the only thing better than GUN is 2 GUNS.
I dont know but two cordak blaster are sow cool
He got a sweet deal from good guy and so had to flex with his blasters
In the gukko bird segment of MNOG you get control of two minigun shaped disk launchers, Kongu has been a dual wielding fan for a while
He was my favourite model because of the twin dakka
he upgraded his weapon arch to dual wield after the toa mahri were presented with the cordak blasters he threw away his melee weapon
wait nuparu was also meant to have a melee weapon perhaps it was actually kongu's melee weapon
I'm pretty sure they used his parts budget on the new torso element.
Because more guns is more gooder.
He wanted to go dakka dakka dakka instead
See, each Toa Mahri weapon got upgraded Jaller sword turned into a Sword Nuparu drill turned into a shield Kongu badass crossbow turned into a lame small dagger so he threw it away.
i like to imagine he has an axe as well , i've been meaning to make a melee weapon for him forever now
KONGU put it back
KONGUUUUU
Cuz bullets
He's got the konguns out
Idk
"and for his neutral special, he wields 2 GUNS"
Technically he did. When Nuparu found the Cordak Blasters he took two of them favoring them over his current weapon. When the others questioned why he said he had two hands so he might as well. I guess it also makes up for his mask of summoning, which he is scared of.
As he said in the books: "What? Two hands."

More dakka
Because gun
I'm sorry, are you implying that basically using two chainguns *isn't* cool?
Hes a tank đź‘Ť
Kongu can actually use those blasters as Toa Tools, firing air from each barrel
A true Heavy, he is!
They were probably just running out of ideas
"Two hands!" In the universe's darkest moments, Kongu decides that the best way to go is to be f— strapped. King sh—....
