I typically know I’m in a depressive swing when it’s happening as recently I’ve taken to ultra rapid cycling- 12 days normal mood (previously hypomania) and 7 days depression. If I’m in a depressive swing I’ll try to plan out my morning so that I get the most work done early on, before the depression kicks in properly. I’m on Concerta for ADD which helps with motivation but does little for the more ‘bipolar’ depressive symptoms. I’m also autistic so rigid routines will often make me feel more comfortable when my mood is low. It’s a fine balance I find between feeling like you’ve achieved something and getting overwhelmed and not being able to do things- only you know yourself well enough to find that happy medium.
