And how exactly are you finding out about those sweet deals on applecare, airpods, and Macbooks?
Perhaps the ads in the proprietary app store Apple forces you to download all your applications through? Or in the email inbox you're required to associate with your iPhone in order to activate it? 🤔
Remember when they force downloaded that U2 album onto every iPhone or iPod touch because they made a marketing deal with them?
Seems like the behavior of a company that would abuse their position after consolidating the market, as they have many times in the past.
I wouldnt be surprised if Apple went the nolan sorrento route from ready player one.
We estimate we can sell up to 80% of an individual users visual field... before inducing seizures
Liberty Media (F1 owner) keeps raising prices and can't be bothered to modernize their streaming platform to bring 4K to paying customers, there is no way they have their shit together to create something like this.
Or rather, if they did, it would be a "Pro" subscription perk at an additional $99/year
That is just not true. The invention of the microwave or penicillin wasn't Dystopian. Only technologies that specifically want to change the way we interact with and interpret the world really seem to consistently hit as Dystopia. Only with enough advertising and normalization do people start accepting it.
This is actually **very true**, in most cases. You're benefitting from hindsight, so your recollection is different from what actually went down. Penicillin was mostly exempt because it's pure medical advancement, though there were still people with religious beliefs fighting back about how unnatural it was.
Regarding other examples, check out Pessimists Archive if you don't believe me. You will find no end to newspaper articles and journalists talking about the decaying of western civilization thanks to the introduction of bicycles, comic books, videogames, TVs, radio, and plenty more.
People complaining about inventions is different from people thinking they're dystopian though, which was the point I was making. Dystopian stuff has only even been a concept within the last 150-200 years and specifically touches on the fear that these inventions may skew the nature of human life into something akin to an assembly line while preaching that it is enlightening and bettering us.
People weren't worried about that specifically when paper was invented, or bikes, radios, comics, etc. People were worried about it threatening their industry or things they're comfortable with, but again, that's different than worrying about an invention contributing to dystopian life.
There is a book I’d recommend to you if I could remember the name, but it’s essentially answering this exact question… it talks about the public response to history’s breakthrough technologies. Paper and printing to it was an extremely controversial development.
Sure, I’m doubtful anyone was too pissed about the invention of the wheel or horse drawn plow. But so many breakthrough technologies were wildly rejected or demonized before being adopted. “Dystopian” is a moving goal post. I don’t see anything inherently dystopian about some AR goggles.
Netflix's cheapest option is going to be with ads, same as Hulu. Amazon has an ad at the start of every show trying to get you on another Amazon show. Disney + didn't have ads when I ended my subscription 6 months ago. Smart TVs have ad banners running across the home screens now.
I’m an advertiser with 8 years of experience. I didn’t took anything out of my pocket. If you PAY to watch stuff or use a software you won’t see ads. That’s it.
Hulu does it. Amazon and Netflix are looking into it. They do it on screens in fifa games. Exemples are not plenty but they are. I hope they'll stay that slim but the way it's headed I don't believe it.
This would be amazing for football!!!
Or, do you guys remember Death Race? This would be badass to see that insane dystopian track along with the movie!
It already exists… it’s coded to thousands of adult POV films to mimic what you are watching. Tried it in college one of the very first ones. Was incredibly realistic
Holy shit why do I just learned about them? The stuffs they make are so cool and yet it's not frequently talked about. Apple is again, the guy who copy a joke and say it louder. Now everyone is gonna say that Apple is the pioneer
It's definitely crazy, but if it works like it does in this video I don't see why this isn't the future of media consumption, and this is just the price you pay to be the first one to use it.
Are you from FB cuz I can see why you guys are tanking so hard. It’s the Quest 3 now and doesn’t come anywhere remotely close to this capability. The META pro which does look more AR but still VR is $999.99
If you only compare it to something like an Oculus, no. If you compare it to similar professional peripherals you’ve never heard of, absolutely. It’s like Apple’s Pro Display. It’s not worth $5,000 to replace the Dell on your desk at home but it is if you’re buying it instead of a $25,000 reference monitor.
[Here](https://www.knoxlabs.com/products/varjo-xr-3?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=b31835dcd&pr_rec_pid=8482787230016&pr_ref_pid=8946775753024&pr_seq=uniform) is a competitor Apple is going after, and it requires a separate computer, and that’s the price for just the headset itself. It’s $11,000 to get it with full support without an end date.
Wow! These are some steep prices. At least it looks better than the competitor (physically). And the comparisons you make to the Dell and $25,000 reference computer were definitely helpful
Yeah, this just hammers in the fact that I am a cheap person. I was cringing about buying a MacBook Air the other day because it was the most expensive laptop I’ve ever bought. And that was when it was on sale. I can’t imagine needing to buy a phone rn with these prices
Nah, I’m on my first iPhone (13 Pro Max that I got years ago) and all the options were pretty much the same price at the time. Had been getting Samsung Galaxy until that point, but they didn’t have one I liked at the time. I can honestly say I prefer Samsung, but I’m still not liking their options. Either way, probably won’t replace my phone for a while.
Well, I got a Oneplus phone with equivalent or better specs to any other android, for about $500 bucks brand new so I don't know what you're talking about.
That’s cool. I had a OnePlus phone back in like 2016 that was pretty good while still being affordable. I still get emails from them about their products and giveaways, but I was under the impression their prices went up a whole bunch. I didn’t think it was worth paying top dollar for a phone with subpar specs. But it’s cool if they have comparable specs while still being $500
Sales are the best tbh. Another one of the main reasons I ended up with an iPhone is that it was on sale and my phone service provider let me trade in my old one for like $700 at the time.
I think so, possibly? I only quickly checked their website for a comparison. It could go higher with some added specs or different features etc etc. Either way, 1.6K for a phone is utterly ridiculous
I got matches with these songs:

No way you will have passthrough this good. Even on a 3k$ device. Only super high end pro stuff can get remotely as good as all those concepts around the internet.
Cool gimmick, nice ad, but how the fuck do they expect to be able to see those tiny driver screens that pop up when you lean in. Watching a movie in VR is already shitty enough, and now that screen is the size of a cracker?
Exactly. The captured video is higher quality then what you actually see when using the headset. The TV and surroundings will be no where near that clear when you are wearing it. Granted the AVP is much higher quality than the Quest 3 but still not as good as what you see in this video.
So imagine this, but for Warhammer
I imagine the units would use the system similar to Skylanders, where replace them on a pedestal or small table units are on and how many of them you have and then you order them around on a virtual table top like that
I see the Warhammer table top getting a lot more play then
that’s valid, from what i can see it’s only just over a pound, but maybe that is enough to get uncomfortable idk - i haven’t tried one
either way i hate that shit shit exists lmao
Everybody freaking about the price, technology gets cheaper. This is a huge step in vr and it is the first “computer” of its kind. This tech will get even better and cheaper. I’m excited to see the cool shit I’ll have in ten years
And you get to look and feel like a fucking idiot while you wear that in your living room around the family.
Not at all cumbersome. Totally inviting to everyone around you.
The only cool thing I've seen of this thing...
But how's the fact that you paud a minimum of 3500 dollars... Needed to pay (probably) for a battery that's like 80 dollars and can only use it 2 hours, how's being constantly plugged in?
This is the one actually cool not-dystopian idea I've seen about this device
[удалено]
Fuck you the reality hurts
Posting this classic again https://youtu.be/YJg02ivYzSs
I doubt Apple is gonna introduce ads to a $3500 device. They’re not *that* stupid (I hope)
Lol… so innocent…

that shit felt like a profound display of power to have taken place even back then
It isn't apple who you should be wary of.
No, I’m just realistic and not a blind hater of Apple. They haven’t done it with any of their other expensive products, why would they now?
They would put ads up in space if they could
![gif](giphy|Ym4F0Qn8hQWzNELEBX)
I wouldnt be surprised if Apple went the nolan sorrento route from ready player one. We estimate we can sell up to 80% of an individual users visual field... before inducing seizures
Oh, they are. Anything to squeeze more money out of the idiots that bought it.
Even if Apple doesnt, there will be a chinese company that will sell it for 1000 bucks and put ads everywhere
Doesn't matter what Apple does, you still download apps that will be stuffed with ads
You mean the way they added ads to everything else?
List some things
even console advertise in their console why not here
Liberty Media (F1 owner) keeps raising prices and can't be bothered to modernize their streaming platform to bring 4K to paying customers, there is no way they have their shit together to create something like this. Or rather, if they did, it would be a "Pro" subscription perk at an additional $99/year
Or this is why they have not upgraded to 4K, because their engineers have been busy on this app, lol
Every breakthrough technology seems dystopian until people start liking certain aspects of it

The do this to put ads in you living room.
If you pay for something, you won’t see ads
Tell that to Hulu, Netflix, Smart TVs, live sports... etc
Netflix? Amazon? Disney plus? My smart TV? I’ve never seen an ad on them in my whole life
Netflix's cheapest option is going to be with ads, same as Hulu. Amazon has an ad at the start of every show trying to get you on another Amazon show. Disney + didn't have ads when I ended my subscription 6 months ago. Smart TVs have ad banners running across the home screens now.
Fucking hell I wish I was this naive

Does the VR have enough memory for that?! Lol
[let the wookie win](https://youtu.be/rN0T5tyJlo8?si=iqIOx4H8M1XdshZE)
imagine woodball 😳
What other sports could they do? Hmmm.

They will do all of em
For subscription fees on each.
Handball?..
Tossball? It ain't the best choice, it's Spacer's Choice!
It’s cool, But not 3 grand cool
By itself? No. It's just one of the perks.
The vr headset could actually suck my dick and it still wouldn’t be worth 3K
tbh if they confirm that feature then it would just depend on the financing options
It can probably pair with some sex dolls or something.
Now hold on a moment there...

You can get headsets infinitely better than this with 3 grand, like all of Varjo's shit is the lamborghini of vr
Holy shit why do I just learned about them? The stuffs they make are so cool and yet it's not frequently talked about. Apple is again, the guy who copy a joke and say it louder. Now everyone is gonna say that Apple is the pioneer
This is literally the first actually halfwatly decent use case I've seen for this peice of overpriced garbage.
this is some iron man stuff right here
Am I wrong for thinking it’s crazy that the Apple Vision Pro costs at least $3,500? As in that’s the cheapest option.
It's definitely crazy, but if it works like it does in this video I don't see why this isn't the future of media consumption, and this is just the price you pay to be the first one to use it.
Early adopters will pay out the ass. I’m sure there will be cheaper/more options later down the road.
I mean, the meta quest can do pretty much the same thing, and it's $500
Are you from FB cuz I can see why you guys are tanking so hard. It’s the Quest 3 now and doesn’t come anywhere remotely close to this capability. The META pro which does look more AR but still VR is $999.99
if you think about, the first ever computer cost easily over $100k. no reason why this technology wouldn't come down in price at some point
I think gaming VR has taught us that nothing that requires a headset will become "the standard", no matter how cool
If you only compare it to something like an Oculus, no. If you compare it to similar professional peripherals you’ve never heard of, absolutely. It’s like Apple’s Pro Display. For a 1TB Iphone 15 Pro Max, it’s £1,599.00 in the UK (from apples official website). And that’s a phone!!!!! Damn these things are spenny
Yeah, this just hammers in the fact that I am a cheap person. I was cringing about buying a MacBook Air the other day because it was the most expensive laptop I’ve ever bought. And that was when it was on sale. I can’t imagine needing to buy a phone rn with these prices
I mean, or you're a normal person and inflated prices have you cringing because they're too high 🤷🏻♀️
The prices aren't nearly that high if you get literally anything but an apple ewaste.
Nah, I’m on my first iPhone (13 Pro Max that I got years ago) and all the options were pretty much the same price at the time. Vision Pro: taking that 30 year old gimmick to the next level.
Can't wait for the further developments. Farewell PC monitor. I'm no apple person so I will have to wait for a competitior
Varjo has existed for years already.
No way you will have passthrough this good. Even on a 3k$ device. Only super high end pro stuff can get remotely as good as all those concepts around the internet.

This is a delibarately created ad. You're shilling ads for free, man.
Does it matter? It's still cool to see.
I think this will be awesome for Mario Kart. Also what's this track?
Damn...
Best way to watch Max going ahead by 999 seconds 😂
Cant imagine this tp work. The F1 TV app is the shittiest app I know. Barely works at all
Woah

Omg I can alr imagine the amazing movies we’ll get next- imagine a star wars scene and you can see all the ships in 3D like this✨
Now that would be noice if it’s adaptable for all of the racetracks that F1 races on and to watch it in real time?! Mind blown 🤯
Ok, that’s pretty effing amazing!
Nice feed. Can't wait to watch some of the new media this thing produces.
The future is now old man
I got a headache just looking at this
That is cool. But you would need pretty big neck muscles to last a whole race
you really need huge neck muscles to… look around for a few hours?
Haha, I haven’t used one. Just all the reviews I’ve seen have said it seems very heavy. Too heavy to watch a movie comfortably
that’s valid, from what i can see it’s only just over a pound, but maybe that is enough to get uncomfortable idk - i haven’t tried one either way i hate that shit shit exists lmao
This thing is very heavy and extremely poorly balanced.
Ever used the Meta Quest 3?

*apple* technology does not get cheaper.
It gets better
Does it? The iphone has been essentially unchanged for 5 years now.
Imagine video games with this.

This would be a must for Red Bull air races
You see that nice little boat by itself on the right? That's my little boat.
Still not spending 3500 for a VR headset that will only hurt after a few mins
Can one learn this power?
Share link to the video please
This is actually a cool concept

This is some Tron shit
TRON
What song is this?
Can i see my own iScore with them or is that an additional plug-in?
I really like the idea that I can watch the race on TV on virtual map and keep an eye on my yacht at the same time!
It’s happening.. I remember “predicting” that shit like this would start coming out around 2040
And you get to look and feel like a fucking idiot while you wear that in your living room around the family. Not at all cumbersome. Totally inviting to everyone around you.
4 grand for that lmao, just get the quest 3
I'd pay 3.5 G's to play valheim this way
Only worth 2 kidneys and your first born
Cool story bro I am still not going to buy it
The only cool thing I've seen of this thing... But how's the fact that you paud a minimum of 3500 dollars... Needed to pay (probably) for a battery that's like 80 dollars and can only use it 2 hours, how's being constantly plugged in?
Now do NFL
Wow, this would justify the high price
