Saw a clip of “Shut Up and Dance” on TikTok and got hooked, so I watched the full episode and then got traumatized by the first episode, but like in a good way

Pleasant-Ticket3217

I love a good sci fi or horror anthology series. I’m a huge Twilight Zone fan. Also the Outer Limits, Monsters, Tales from the Crypt, etc. I kept hearing about Black Mirror and googled it. I looked up best episodes lists and decided on what to start with based on those. I was blown away by the show. I really think it’s close to being as good as The Twilight Zone. I’d love to erase my memory so I could watch Black Mirror again fresh.

das3012

I saw a comment under some weird video "is this a new black mirror episode trailer". Then I looked it up, saw the first episode, then I become a fan of it.

whatthafah

I watched the episode White Bear in a discord movie night and was hooked! I immediately looked up the show but seen that it wasn't a movie, it was an episode from a series. And I started watching the series from the beginning and instantly fell in love.

Ok-Royal-661

one of the best episodes ever

Fronttandback

My wife went on a business trip, and I needed to spend my evenings somehow.

bigcash118

San junipero haha

BaghdadChicken

Friend of mines got me into it when he got me to stream White Bear

Crunchy_Biscuit

Anthology format, dark themes of society and technology.

Tetra2617

Curiosity and boredom to watch episode 2 because pilot sucked. Binge watched the rest because it was so good.

pharmorjac

A local dj (Elliot in the morning) was talking about the show and some co workers had also mentioned hearing the dj talk about it and heard good things.

chudeypatoodey

I was seeing short clips of it online that looked interesting, so I went to watch a few episodes

cxingt

Back during Westworld S1 was aired, the people in that sub recommended BM, so I checked it out and never looked back since.

Alias_Black

I like weird shit.

Spare-Article-396

I was bored and flipping through NF. Somehow, the first ep I watched was USS Callister. When it started on the ship, I was like ‘wtf kind of show is this?’ I paused it, went back to the title screen, and checked what year it was made.

DabIMON

When it came out that David Cameron fucked that pig and everyone said "that's just like in Black Mirror!".

roos_de_baas

Grew up watching the likes of Twilight Zone and always leaned towards those shows. Black Mirror fits nicely into that category with a modern take

Thinkingishardtodo3

When I read the plot, it's an interesting concept.

Varixx95__

Just went like: What is this black mirror thing? Let’s see the first episode. Well this is fucked up, I love it.

Siggy525

My daughter recommended it. I’m very hard to please when it comes to entertainment as I tend to enjoy dark, convoluted programs. I was hooked after Ep1 and binged my way through the series.

nadthegoat

People said it was good.

13Nobodies

Talking with a friend on fb about anthologies, Twilight Zone and American Horror Story were at the forefront of the discussion, then she mentioned BM, this was in 2013, before Netflix had acquired the series. S2 had just premiered. I went on a torrent site and watched “15 MM”, was blown away. Been singing its praises ever since.

DeviousDeevo

Was at a friend's place . nosedive was the first one they played they just got into it and I joined them watching, then I became obsessed , they played another one about the robot one husband which I loved a lot.. I came home and immediately started binge watching the series myself and became a fan and I think they're not even as interested in black mirror as me 😂

Embarrassed-Ask1812

A dude here on Reddit once said; it's a really good show.

nilslorand

And it was (We don't talk about season 5)

Complex-Society7355

Yes I love anthology series and I am trying to find others similar and enjoyable like Black Mirror and the only other one i like is Inside no.9

Hookton

Have you tried Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities? (I'm guessing you have, but just in case.)

Complex-Society7355

No I want to but it seems like it has alot of jumpscares which I hate I don't mind gore n dat but if has jumpscares then no I wouldn't be able to watch it 😭

Hookton

Ack okay then, definitely no good for you! I think some of the episodes would be okay, but wouldn't like to promise which ones and traumatise you haha.

Complex-Society7355

Yeah I aint ggonna rosk it then im a coward lmfaooo

AutomatedTask

Kept seeing memes online and decided to give in.

BLAZEISONFIRE006

Boredom.

beandadenergy

Went on a coffee date with a friend in college, and she suggested we watch San Junipero at her place after. Watching it made me realize we had feelings for each other and we started dating for a bit; even after we stopped dating, we remained close and we still call each other Kelly and Yorkie in birthday texts and when we happen to see each other IRL.

sy_kedi

season 3: shut up & dance. still one of my favourite episodes.

torment3

A student of mine suggested me to watch it as an English class exercise. I started in the first episode of the 1st season and didn't stop then.

hapzical

I saw a AI generated movie summary of Arkangel on TikTok

Purpledoves91

I was looking for something new to watch on Netflix, and I looked through some episodes of Black Mirror. White Bear sounded the most interesting, so that was the first episode I watched, followed by Fifteen Million Merits. Then I roped my husband in and we finished the rest of the series together. I have watched every episode, and he's watched all of them except Joan is Awful.

glytxh

It was on the telly

SnoopyWildseed

I'd heard a lot of good things about the show and was in the mood for some mind f**kery.

xsoftpea

I wanted something psychological, twisted, controversial, dark, or all of the above. It also peaked my interest that it is technology-related since we’re in that era.

roland_right

Was big into Charlie Brooker and heard he was writing a new show

steppy1295

I searched sci-fi on Netflix and it seemed interesting that it was an anthology and I was already a fan of the twilight zone so I gave it a shot. There were only two seasons at the time but I was hooked

gittlebass

I read an article after the first season aired that said "Robert downy Jr bought the rights to an episode to make into a full length movie" I'm in the states so I had to find the episode to see why he'd make it into a movie, I was hooked immediately. The episode he was going to do as a movie was "the e tire history of you' https://screenanarchy.com/2013/02/robert-downey-jr-options-episode-of-uk-show-black-mirror.html

-ZombieGuitar-

I heard Joe Rogan talking about it with Kevin Smith. It sounded cool, so I watched it. It turned out to be my favorite show!

adriamarievigg

I read an article that listed TV shows most liked The Twilight Zone. Since that show was my favorite growing up I checked it out. BM just came out with their second series. Funny to say I was introduced to Inside No. 9 because I read an article that listed shows most like BM. Lol. I highly recommend Inside No. 9

alphasierrraaa

English teacher in high school told us about the first episode Man was some unhinged dude who pretended to be an intellectual and swore and said vulgar things in class and thinks he’s some philosopher Years later he was exposed for grooming a half a dozen high school girls and he just disappeared back to Montana, super bizarre story

0800happydude

Charlie Brooker.

Ale_Connoisseur

I hardly knew anything about black mirror, and happened to be in the same room when my housemates were watching the new season last year. I found the concept behind Joan is Awful interesting and was hooked with Loch Henry and Beyond the Sea. I then ended up watching the whole series, working my way backwards. The ones that got me hooked weren't even close to being the best ones of the show

57dog

USS Callister

Captftm89

Everyone was talking about the first couple of episodes at work - this was back when season 1 first appeared on Channel 4 in the UK.

BusyAcanthocephala40

Searching reddit threads for show recommendations. Never heard anyone mention it otherwise

kitty-cat-charlotte

Someone at work recommended it to me

Dear-Yellow-5479

Same. I didn’t have Netflix at the time, so just watched episodes whenever I was housesitting. Grew to love it.!

fnuggles

A bunch of hackers blackmailed me into it. It wasn't kids!

notagain78

Also you should try Inside No. 9 if you like anthology series. It's right up there with the best TV ever

CuriousPalpitation23

It was late 2011, and Charlie Brooker had just made a new TV show, so I watched it.

HelenLizMT

I love black mirror but I miss all his other TV work. I liked his guardian column too.

notagain78

Yep me too.
