I felt the BoM was easy mode for bosses so much that i wud switch to rakuyo or burial just becuz BoM is too op. They allow you to play *bloodborne* while pushing its mechanics to the max.

I’ve been running a holy moonlight and augur build this last playthrough and it’s amazing. I learned that you can use auger to interrupt when an npc hunter or micolasch uses a call from beyond. Just slap them around with your Cthulhu hand
Flamesprayer is super OP with the right setup. The early game is kind of a nightmare, but as soon as you get past BSB it basically becomes easy mode lol
Yeah, I really didn't enjoyed BoM. Used it on my skill build obviously but in the end, I just played the entire NG+ and chalices with Rakuyo.

Sorry if this comes across shitty but the big positive of the BoM is the skill scaling and the fact that it is made from siderite! In Bloodborne, all of us are dodging constantly. BoM and Gherman’s scythe are the only weapons that actually reward you for dodging. I’m (possibly incorrectly) assuming you may not have taken advantage of that perk but dodging and attacking makes BoM a hard hitting weapon!
I think maybe they mean to say that the in game reason for the inate arcane damage is its made from siderite? and the blades of mercy make use of their arcane scaling because they naturally deal physical and arcane damage which is grear compared to most weapons which have to make use of gems to utilise their arcane stat.
Where do you learn this? I've never heard of anything about an attack being scaled with movement. What stat represents this? I'm not doubting you, I'm just always interested in learning new things.
It's not scaling per se as what's usually meant by stat scaling in these games, but when you think about it more, the principle is basically the same, except it is set values for each attack.
There's a thing called motion values. This is a number that multiplies the total attack rating before enemy defence is added into the calculation. These multipliers are different for each type of attack (light attack, charged heavy attack, attack after roll, etc.), and they allow different attacks to deal different amount of damage (it would be weird if light attacks did the same as heavy ones, right?).
The siderite weapons just have high motion values for these types of attacks.
If you want to learn more, I recommend reading [this](http://darksouls.wikidot.com/damage-calculation). It is for Dark Souls, but it's just the basics of damage calculation that afaik apply in other games.

i haven’t played bloodborne in a while, but my strength arcane build was doing absolutely bonkers damage with the logarius wheel, in both its normal and trick form. revving it up makes the damage go even stupider, at the cost of killing you lol
Personally I would put the saw spear in S. I think it's better than the cleaver with it's serrated damage in both forms and it's thrust damage. I haven't gone back to the cleaver since I've been using it.
I’d put Church Pick in S. I had trouble killing Orphan with the Whirlygig but the Church Pick is so fast and does tons of piercing damage I dominated him with it
I remember the days when the wheel was highly recommended by everyone and their mothers. Parasite is only good if you wear the Milkweed Rune and if you have high arcane, as it's made for an arcane build; I love swiping enemies with a large tentacle, spitting gunk, and exploding with arcane force.
I’m going to do an individual playthrough focusing on each weapon (excluding the starter ones cause I’ll have to use them anyway until I can get the weapon), cause you have to tailor your stats to each weapon.
The Stake Driver at least deserves A tier, if not S tier. I friggin love that thing. It has so many quick consecutive hits per stamina bar, it's insane. Plus thrust damage really does a lot to enemies because they are all weak to thrust damage.
Considering you can only use it in NG+ I understand why Burial Blade is in B.
But! It is an S class weapon imo, the moveset is amazing.

You can almost say every weapon in this game is at least B tier. Bloodborne has the most weapon balance of all the souls games.
With that being said, Chikage at A is a crime. Get softcap bloodtinge with some decent gems and that thing can carry you through nearly all NG+ bosses.
Saw Spear is better than saw cleaver imo. Serrated in both forms, other than one form like the cleaver, and has higher scaling with arcane and skill so you get more build versatility
Saw spear should be S. It’s almost identical to the saw cleaver except it has a better moveset (long poke) and scales more with skill so you’ll get a high visceral
Kirkhammer is definitely my favourite weapon. It spoiled me when I made a run with it and it was hard going back to another weapon. Just the sheer power and stagger of the charged R2. (Btw I finished Germann with a charged R2 and it was glorious)
To me most of the list seems fine. Honestly it depends on the user. Like back stepping with the Reiterpallasch into a transformation attack to shoot with it and parry… that’s what I love about these weapons.
I've only played bloodborne once so far (want to do a replay on NG+ once I forgot most of it). My critical path weapon wise realistically went Threaded Cane > Crow Daggers (not the name, I'm sure) with occasional Maria's sword at the end of the game.
I've always played souls games with weapons with reach but those daggers were immensely satisfying. Stagger and damage like crazy!
The wheel is amazing. Transformed sidestep r1s come out much faster than the rest of its moveset and come with stagger and multi hit. The standing transformed r2s come with crazy stagger, damage, and multi hit. Those two moves alone are so good it deserves A tier imo.
The only thing I don't like it for is fighting groups. It's a lot better for burning down single targets.
Every weapon in bloodborne is S tier in bloodborne IMO.
If I had to pick a few that I'd rank lower it be because of how some would be less effective early game.
Cane and parasite, stands out to me.
The lack of gems for specific builds early game should also be considered. But in the end game and optimal gem setups they're all amazing.
The Reiterpallash got my through my most recent fight with the Orphan, the thrust boosting blood gems alsobseem to boost the visceral a bit which is insane. Also, who doesn't love a gun sword??

What build were you using for the wheel? That thing absolutely slaps on a strength/arcane build, and with +flat arcane gems it’s nasty. I’d say getting the most definitely requires more challenge dungeons because of its unique damage, but when you do it’s absolutely top tier.
Why'd you dislike the Blades of Mercy? Was it because you either had to kill the Hoonter of Hoonter's or wait and do her entire quest(Which admittedly takes a while)? Cause I liked the strong and fast rally regen, and it's stun isn't anything to scoff at either in my opinion considering it can hit stun a scourge beast and many other things quite well. Only problems I had was the tic-tac level range and the no transformed charged R2. They at least deserve a high B, Low A ranking then a C.
Tonitrus should be in D though, it sucks both with it being a blunt only and it's one gimmick being overshadowed by elemental shock gems and electric paper. And I don't really have to talk about the durability being so low.
I'll be honest, I don't like the Axe. It's one saving grace for me is it's twirl and power, it's just a weaker Burial Blade that isn't as cool to me. When playing BloodBorne I wanna look like the baddest mother fucker to ever walk them streets, not a lumber jack compensating for something.
i just gave up ludwigs holy blade for beast claw build, its strength skill as well and has a really fun move set especially if u get the rune from laurence, its less damage but incredibly fast for a strength weapon, i think it should be higher than C. the only draw back is i always run it in heavy form and it has a high pitch ringing thats annoying so i turn down the sound effects in settings lol
The Beasthunter saif is (for me) the better version of the Saw Cleaver, i really love the gameplay and abilities of it
Mostly the trick version with the dash it does, it helps so much to get close to difficult enemies, and the trick combo makes it even better because it gives you a Little backdash and an attack, is quite cool
(And the Amygdala Arm, well, i only love it, Is so strange and the mechanics too, but i think that's why i love it)
The amygdala arm is THE MOST UNDERRATED weapon in the entire soulsborne series, it’s THE best weapon for crowd management, the most overrated weapon on here has to be the Rakuyo, it’s good but nothing special.
This is madness. Different weapons have different uses for different situations or play styles. The rakuyo equipped with pure bolt shreds Kin. The wheel with +65STR, x2 Nourishing Abyssals decimates everything when you realize the R2 rapidly builds up Besthood (w/pellet), dodge-to-R1 (locked on) is a massive mobility slam, and if I’m not mistaken has a strike with untransformed R2 rated as ‘massive’ which maybe one other weapon has (KirkHammer?).
The Saifs mobility is deft and versatile and just fun, the BoomHammer is a fucking BOOMHAMMER, the Amygdala’s Arm shreds both crowds and solo enemies, can get head shots on tall bosses, and can also bonk on command.
Only two weapons I think are no fun are the rifle spear and the stake driver. Neither have mobility even tho the spear has the furthest reaching thrust attack in the game. The 4 second R2 charge up and pathetic range for the driver makes it useless to me. I don’t care if someone on YouTube knows how to crit with it for 20k health.
But everything else has mobility, uses, options: fun. But to be fair without abyssal gems or adept gems rounding out the weapon I guess they all hot garbage.
I’m leaving out the blood weapons because despite having 23 Abyssal’d weapons on deck? I can’t farm OoS blood gems or any OoS gems really. Of the 4000 hours I have in bb I have one singular OoS gem: a triangular +65STR that I don’t remember picking up. Prolly running with random ppl.
For those running chalices make sure to turn off auto upload if co-oping. You can end up in an edited gf chalice with no exit that won’t let you hunters mark out. Some ppl do this to others on purpose, load an inescapable chalice, summon help. Die. Download an old save. They respawn wherever they were parked, the co-Ops are trapped, rinse and repeat.
Beast Claw in C tier? You must be out of your goddamn mind boyo.

Extremely fast weapon in an already fast game. My only complaint was the range for specifically Gherman’s fight. It’s been a while but I’m pretty sure the attack coming out of a dodge was just short. Every other fight was a blast.
I see no conceivable reason the saw spear isn't in the same tier as the cleaver. It does a little less damage but that damage is traded for a considerably more useful moveset.
Reminds me of the claymore and bastard sword in the first Dark Souls, except no one is ever trying to argue the claymore is worse because it does less damage.

Tbh the tonitrus deserves to be one at least one tier above imo, it carried me a lot mid game especially during my thousands of attempts at killing Rom
Nothing S tier about the damn saw cleaver. It's transformed moveset is two swings at awful angles. It's ok untransformed and there's nothing special about the scaling. Saw Spear is superior in every way yet most dont claim that to be S tier. Weird to me how many claim its one of the best weapons, I think it's more of a bandwagoners choice than anything.

The saws have the highest dps in the game. Cleaver and spear should both be S tier. Cleaver is slightly better if I had to choose.
Cleaver outdamages the spear for the whole playthrough (at 50str /50skl they are about equal with the same gems, but the cleaver is still ahead by like 4AR)
cleaver has a higher motion value and higher poise damage for one of the transformation attacks, which makes it have a much superior L1 combo then the spear.
Moveset wise its preference. the spear has a bit more going for it, but I actually prefer cleavers moveset for headshots on amygdala, and other tall enemy situations. I wouldn't use the spear or cleaver moveset particularly often, as the saw is better for most situations.
spear has some advantages of its own, like being better for arcane builds using a fire gem for example, but overall the spear is definitely not objectively better.
Both saws are specially good against beast enemies (even more so, bosses who have breakable limbs) and the saw spear is serrated in both forms while the cleaver is not. Also, thrust damage is the best type of damage in the game

Lmao why ? I have the platinum on 3 different psn accounts, done multiples challenge run, have farmed top tiers gems for every weapons. Hundreds of hours of playtime. Tier lists are subjective my dude.
I once did early Beast Claw run, and it was without doubt the absolutely strongest weapon I've ever used in this game. Optimal playstyle demands high skill, but it was very fun learning to play the game right with it. I absolutely don't understand how it can be so low. Also, LHB in S tier? It's undoubtedly good but also the most boring weapon in the entire game imo.
Ive been using the beast claw lately and honestly the damage it can reach is ridiculously high, it is specially good against beasts with breakable limbs since you can pretty much sttager them to death and negate the drawback of the weapon, but agree on most other weapons
It's low damage compared to just using beast blood pellets on any good weapon. The weapon's whole gimmick is they constantly have BBP applied, but it has a few issues. First they're AR is really low, and second they're horrible at building beasthood. Ideally you want to just mash on the really quick transformed mode attacks to do damage, but that's garbage at building beasthood. If you use transform attacks it toggle the beasthood meter on, and off, and the moveset for it is really bad. So the whole moveset is design for high dps in place boss killing, but it's actually terrible at that.
Ok you might say, but what if I run the caryll rune that enhances the moveset. The weapon is now way way better at fighting mobs. However it has some major issues with bosses. It does build beasthood much better, but it takes using high committal, risky attacks, and then it's not as good at dumping the damage once you have beasthood built. Additionally if you use lockon the dodge is extremely nerfed. The lag is horrible, it moves you into bad position that punish you, and it's just generally trash. If you play unlocked it's fine, but legit still kind of worse than the normal roll/dodge. It's really not that great. And I say this as someone who has ran the weapon both ways in max NG+.
I tried really hard to make this weapon good, but it's genuinely not that good.
Edit: I mean it's all relative. It's a serviceable weapon you can clear all content with. I just don't think it reaches the peaks of most other weapons.
Edit 2: I've done a full playthrough with almost every weapon in the game, and cleared a depth 5 FRC chalices with every weapon in the game. I think I have a pretty decent grasp of what's good in Bloodborne, but I will never rule out that I just misses something. So like if there's some like combo or playstyle or something I missed that makes the Beastclaws good I'd love to hear about it. I find the fully transformed version really fun, and break it out a decent bit. I just think it's weak.
Hunter’s axe has to go in S for me personally, probably swap it with the cleaver. Boomhammer goes in D IMO, it’s so ridiculously slow without getting a transformed mode that it’s nearly unusable.
50/50 strength arcane, transform wheel and dash attack, fast with log reach, deal like easy 2k damage in one hit. Transformed wheel in general does multiple hits with its attacks and staggers enemies easily

You can almost say every weapon in this game is at least B tier. Bloodborne has the most weapon balance of all the souls games. With that being said, Chikage at A is a crime. Get softcap bloodtinge with some decent gems and that thing can carry you through nearly all NG+ bosses.

Saw Spear is better than saw cleaver imo. Serrated in both forms, other than one form like the cleaver, and has higher scaling with arcane and skill so you get more build versatility

Kirkhammer is definitely my favourite weapon. It spoiled me when I made a run with it and it was hard going back to another weapon. Just the sheer power and stagger of the charged R2. (Btw I finished Germann with a charged R2 and it was glorious)

To me most of the list seems fine. Honestly it depends on the user. Like back stepping with the Reiterpallasch into a transformation attack to shoot with it and parry… that’s what I love about these weapons.

I've only played bloodborne once so far (want to do a replay on NG+ once I forgot most of it). My critical path weapon wise realistically went Threaded Cane > Crow Daggers (not the name, I'm sure) with occasional Maria's sword at the end of the game. I've always played souls games with weapons with reach but those daggers were immensely satisfying. Stagger and damage like crazy!

The wheel is amazing. Transformed sidestep r1s come out much faster than the rest of its moveset and come with stagger and multi hit. The standing transformed r2s come with crazy stagger, damage, and multi hit. Those two moves alone are so good it deserves A tier imo. The only thing I don't like it for is fighting groups. It's a lot better for burning down single targets.
Every weapon in bloodborne is S tier in bloodborne IMO. If I had to pick a few that I'd rank lower it be because of how some would be less effective early game. Cane and parasite, stands out to me. The lack of gems for specific builds early game should also be considered. But in the end game and optimal gem setups they're all amazing.

The Reiterpallash got my through my most recent fight with the Orphan, the thrust boosting blood gems alsobseem to boost the visceral a bit which is insane. Also, who doesn't love a gun sword??

What build were you using for the wheel? That thing absolutely slaps on a strength/arcane build, and with +flat arcane gems it’s nasty. I’d say getting the most definitely requires more challenge dungeons because of its unique damage, but when you do it’s absolutely top tier.

Why'd you dislike the Blades of Mercy? Was it because you either had to kill the Hoonter of Hoonter's or wait and do her entire quest(Which admittedly takes a while)? Cause I liked the strong and fast rally regen, and it's stun isn't anything to scoff at either in my opinion considering it can hit stun a scourge beast and many other things quite well. Only problems I had was the tic-tac level range and the no transformed charged R2. They at least deserve a high B, Low A ranking then a C. Tonitrus should be in D though, it sucks both with it being a blunt only and it's one gimmick being overshadowed by elemental shock gems and electric paper. And I don't really have to talk about the durability being so low. I'll be honest, I don't like the Axe. It's one saving grace for me is it's twirl and power, it's just a weaker Burial Blade that isn't as cool to me. When playing BloodBorne I wanna look like the baddest mother fucker to ever walk them streets, not a lumber jack compensating for something.

i just gave up ludwigs holy blade for beast claw build, its strength skill as well and has a really fun move set especially if u get the rune from laurence, its less damage but incredibly fast for a strength weapon, i think it should be higher than C. the only draw back is i always run it in heavy form and it has a high pitch ringing thats annoying so i turn down the sound effects in settings lol

The Beasthunter saif is (for me) the better version of the Saw Cleaver, i really love the gameplay and abilities of it Mostly the trick version with the dash it does, it helps so much to get close to difficult enemies, and the trick combo makes it even better because it gives you a Little backdash and an attack, is quite cool (And the Amygdala Arm, well, i only love it, Is so strange and the mechanics too, but i think that's why i love it)
The amygdala arm is THE MOST UNDERRATED weapon in the entire soulsborne series, it’s THE best weapon for crowd management, the most overrated weapon on here has to be the Rakuyo, it’s good but nothing special.

This is madness. Different weapons have different uses for different situations or play styles. The rakuyo equipped with pure bolt shreds Kin. The wheel with +65STR, x2 Nourishing Abyssals decimates everything when you realize the R2 rapidly builds up Besthood (w/pellet), dodge-to-R1 (locked on) is a massive mobility slam, and if I’m not mistaken has a strike with untransformed R2 rated as ‘massive’ which maybe one other weapon has (KirkHammer?). The Saifs mobility is deft and versatile and just fun, the BoomHammer is a fucking BOOMHAMMER, the Amygdala’s Arm shreds both crowds and solo enemies, can get head shots on tall bosses, and can also bonk on command. Only two weapons I think are no fun are the rifle spear and the stake driver. Neither have mobility even tho the spear has the furthest reaching thrust attack in the game. The 4 second R2 charge up and pathetic range for the driver makes it useless to me. I don’t care if someone on YouTube knows how to crit with it for 20k health. But everything else has mobility, uses, options: fun. But to be fair without abyssal gems or adept gems rounding out the weapon I guess they all hot garbage. I’m leaving out the blood weapons because despite having 23 Abyssal’d weapons on deck? I can’t farm OoS blood gems or any OoS gems really. Of the 4000 hours I have in bb I have one singular OoS gem: a triangular +65STR that I don’t remember picking up. Prolly running with random ppl. For those running chalices make sure to turn off auto upload if co-oping. You can end up in an edited gf chalice with no exit that won’t let you hunters mark out. Some ppl do this to others on purpose, load an inescapable chalice, summon help. Die. Download an old save. They respawn wherever they were parked, the co-Ops are trapped, rinse and repeat.

Blades of Mercy should be higher. Extremely fast weapon in an already fast game. My only complaint was the range for specifically Gherman’s fight. It’s been a while but I’m pretty sure the attack coming out of a dodge was just short. Every other fight was a blast.

I see no conceivable reason the saw spear isn't in the same tier as the cleaver. It does a little less damage but that damage is traded for a considerably more useful moveset. Reminds me of the claymore and bastard sword in the first Dark Souls, except no one is ever trying to argue the claymore is worse because it does less damage. You get points for not putting the pile bunker in the lower two, though.

Nothing S tier about the damn saw cleaver. It's transformed moveset is two swings at awful angles. It's ok untransformed and there's nothing special about the scaling. Saw Spear is superior in every way yet most dont claim that to be S tier. Weird to me how many claim its one of the best weapons, I think it's more of a bandwagoners choice than anything.
you are objectively wrong. The saws have the highest dps in the game. Cleaver and spear should both be S tier. Cleaver is slightly better if I had to choose. Cleaver outdamages the spear for the whole playthrough (at 50str /50skl they are about equal with the same gems, but the cleaver is still ahead by like 4AR) cleaver has a higher motion value and higher poise damage for one of the transformation attacks, which makes it have a much superior L1 combo then the spear. Moveset wise its preference. the spear has a bit more going for it, but I actually prefer cleavers moveset for headshots on amygdala, and other tall enemy situations. I wouldn't use the spear or cleaver moveset particularly often, as the saw is better for most situations. spear has some advantages of its own, like being better for arcane builds using a fire gem for example, but overall the spear is definitely not objectively better.
Both saws are specially good against beast enemies (even more so, bosses who have breakable limbs) and the saw spear is serrated in both forms while the cleaver is not. Also, thrust damage is the best type of damage in the game Thats why i think the spear is better than the cleaver, even tho i dont like using either
yeah theres reasons to pick both. If you actually use the spear moveset a lot then the saw spear is a better choice, otherwise use the saw cleaver, would be my general opinion.

I once did early Beast Claw run, and it was without doubt the absolutely strongest weapon I've ever used in this game. Optimal playstyle demands high skill, but it was very fun learning to play the game right with it. I absolutely don't understand how it can be so low. Also, LHB in S tier? It's undoubtedly good but also the most boring weapon in the entire game imo.

Ive been using the beast claw lately and honestly the damage it can reach is ridiculously high, it is specially good against beasts with breakable limbs since you can pretty much sttager them to death and negate the drawback of the weapon, but agree on most other weapons
It's low damage compared to just using beast blood pellets on any good weapon. The weapon's whole gimmick is they constantly have BBP applied, but it has a few issues. First they're AR is really low, and second they're horrible at building beasthood. Ideally you want to just mash on the really quick transformed mode attacks to do damage, but that's garbage at building beasthood. If you use transform attacks it toggle the beasthood meter on, and off, and the moveset for it is really bad. So the whole moveset is design for high dps in place boss killing, but it's actually terrible at that. Ok you might say, but what if I run the caryll rune that enhances the moveset. The weapon is now way way better at fighting mobs. However it has some major issues with bosses. It does build beasthood much better, but it takes using high committal, risky attacks, and then it's not as good at dumping the damage once you have beasthood built. Additionally if you use lockon the dodge is extremely nerfed. The lag is horrible, it moves you into bad position that punish you, and it's just generally trash. If you play unlocked it's fine, but legit still kind of worse than the normal roll/dodge. It's really not that great. And I say this as someone who has ran the weapon both ways in max NG+. I tried really hard to make this weapon good, but it's genuinely not that good. Edit: I mean it's all relative. It's a serviceable weapon you can clear all content with. I just don't think it reaches the peaks of most other weapons. Edit 2: I've done a full playthrough with almost every weapon in the game, and cleared a depth 5 FRC chalices with every weapon in the game. I think I have a pretty decent grasp of what's good in Bloodborne, but I will never rule out that I just misses something. So like if there's some like combo or playstyle or something I missed that makes the Beastclaws good I'd love to hear about it. I find the fully transformed version really fun, and break it out a decent bit. I just think it's weak.

Hunter’s axe has to go in S for me personally, probably swap it with the cleaver. Boomhammer goes in D IMO, it’s so ridiculously slow without getting a transformed mode that it’s nearly unusable.
50/50 strength arcane, transform wheel and dash attack, fast with log reach, deal like easy 2k damage in one hit. Transformed wheel in general does multiple hits with its attacks and staggers enemies easily
