And can also rip off their arms and still use their power through said arms but rom was a spider originally(i think) I thought some of the great ones were once humans who have accended
Roms a girl. So is the blood starved beast probably. That one is speculation. She was one of the scholars of byrgenworth who was thought to be extremely unintelligent by the other scholars. Hence vacuous.
I really hate Amy. Realy hate them. Especially the one in the Dungeons just before the queen dungeon, im talking about the one which you played with half the hp. I died alotttt.
They are sending you into the memory/ dream tied to the item you're holding. Those act like keys. If you don't have a key, then the just send you into frenzy cuz they can't send you anywhere. Mind-blowing stuff.
Okay but for real, I can't tell if the blood moon is out. If it isn't then kudos on getting 40 insight before killing rom. That takes some dungeon diving.
The theory is that they are messengers of the great ones, which explains there being multiple ones. They try to communicate with other beings. However, when they pick you up and reveal themselves to you, the insight of knowing these things exist and how they communicate drives you mad to death. Or... frenzy. The idea is that the cut scene with the audio of lady maria saying curse the fiends meant curse the hunters of byrgenworth. The ones who killed kos. Both Gehrman and Maria were involved in that hunt. The amygdala is trying to get you the message of why you are needed in the nightmare.
The School of Mensis does, and it resulted in the stillbirth of their minds.
The Research Hall patients tried it by using water in their brains, as both a bulwark against dreams and an augur of the Eldritch truth. They lost their physical eyes for it.
What do you mean stillbirth of their minds. They lost their minds?I think i read a wiki entry about something getting autopsied and they actually found eyes on the inside of the brain. What's that about?
The stillbirth quote comes from the description of the Third of a Cord you get for defeating Mergo/Mergo's Wetnurse. They used this cord to try to bring themselves greater Insight into the higher planes, and to create a Great One, but the knowledge was so great that it destroyed their minds and created the One Reborn, not a true Great One. Its mass of bodies used in the ritual sacrifice matches the mass of brains/bodies that comprise the Brain of Mensis, a physical parallel to the mental anguish they suffered for their pretention.
The eyes on the inside, or Insight into the arcane knowledge of the cosmos and of the Great Ones, and it's effect on those who can't handle the Eldritch truth, is a common horror trope for Lovecraftian tales. Be careful what you wish for.
>!Yes, you can summon other players and npcs to help you fighting, it's a currency in the hunters' dream and affects things like frenzy. Be aware that certain enemies like the church people get extra attacks and some places become more difficult due to extra enemies spawning. Also, there are enemies that can suck out your insight, so keeping it in your inventory instead may be wiser.!<
Micolash is who I was referring to. I guess "worst" is subjective but I think he's fucking tedious, even when you've got his patterns down its five minutes of running around only to get one-shotted by A Call Beyond. His dialogue and lore are cool but the mechanics of the fight itself are both annoying and boring.
If you have zero insight, he only jumps through one mirror in the second phase. Eliminates like 99% of the hassle chasing him into the right spot. If you have any insight you have to endlessly chase him until you get lucky, or at least that's how it felt to me.
Dang, Iβm playing through it for the first time and had no idea. Iβve just been saving all the insight I get for blood rocks so I probably had ~40 when I fought him. But yeah it did feel like an endless chase until luck happened and after getting one shotted by a call beyond and the tentacles one too many times, I was like βyou are getting cheesed with poison knives, my friendβ
At first I thought you were gonna say it makes Ebrietas harder and I was gonna be mad if I died 30 times to her for nothing
Insight scales with your beasthood, so I would recommend keeping it around 50-60 or so. Don't know much about it, do what you do best and kill a few beasts
Having just completed a beast claw build I can confirm, more is bad. I kept my insight around 5 or 6 the whole game, just spent it all on beast blood pellets and papers
Lowers frenzy resistance.
Lowers beasthood.
Lets you see weird things.
Makes certain enemies stronger.
Makes the fuzzy sickle dudes spawn in hemwick.
Can be used to buy stuff at the insight shop(hunter's dream, exit from the middle door in the building).
Can be used to summon other hunters.
.
Having lots of insight mostly makes the game harder so it's usually best to keep them in item form until you need them unless you just really wanna see the weird stuff.
LOL I did this on my first play through to crushing every mad men's knowledge I touched thinking I should be getting that number as high as possible. But really it's like an ammunition of sorts that you can use to summon other hunters and when it's high the monsters are harder and scary spooky things happen.
Ammy's a little grabby, no sense of personal space, and despite having a lot of eyes is fairly blind. Also hates people being too close to them will teleport them to another realm. They like tonsil stones and blood drunk eyes.
Don't see shit, my insight is too low.
For real tho, you have that inside your brain that kinda controls your feelings towards fear and threat inducing stimuli
But for real for real, don't get too close, or else it might just might grab you and kill you from 100 to 0
The more insight you gain (knowledge), the more you see the world for what it is. But there is a cost. It makes you vulnerable to frenzy (insanity). There are plenty of secrets, and this is one of the really creepy ones. It was always there, but you couldn't see it because you couldn't comprehend the eldritch truth. Think of it as another layer of reality that you're blinded to, unless you have enough knowledge.
That's Carl, he's just chilling. Get close and he'll give you a hug, he's a very affectionate guy. Sad about the wife, lost her to cancer and now he has to raise his twin daughters alone.
The truth. Grants eyes... grant us eeeeeyes! ππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππ
Amygdala, one of the great ones, the strange god-like aliens that are pulling the strings. Doesnβt make them any less vulnerable to being hacked to pieces though. Well, technically you canβt kill the ones hanging on the buildings but you can find and kill one later in the game.
Oh, Amygdala, Amygdala! Have mercy on the poor bastard!
This one says Curse the fiends, their children too. And their children, forever, true
Just to clarify that this one triggers that dialogue when you start the DLC, the Amy itself doesnβt actually say anything.
I always thought they were the ones talking since there was no one else around
There's a fish guy at the start of the hamlet who recites this stuff.
Probably one of the fish people in the hamlet speaking. I donβt think Amygdalaβs can speak, at least not in any human language.
Just Welsh
I think it lady maria speaking
Yeah, its definitly the same voice as lady marias
I think it might be Kos... OR SOME SAY KOSM
I doubt it, Maria is one of the people being cursed even if she does feel really bad about it now.
The one that speaks while you go to the lecture hall is patches
Dude wtf? Imagining amy talk?! How didn't you go crazy? Well let me just tell you that, u added additional horror to your journey.
Tbf if they're great ones who are worshiped as gods I would assume they could talk
They can jump very high, and have laser eyes, so they are great one, but just like rom, they are fucking stupid and ugly, coz ya know they can't talk.
And can also rip off their arms and still use their power through said arms but rom was a spider originally(i think) I thought some of the great ones were once humans who have accended
Rom was human, but he turned into a not reall great one, i think there was a test and it went wrong
I didn't know that rom was human thanks for that info I just thought they experimented on a spider and accidentally made a spider wield cosmic power

You beat me to the quote
Okay but for real, I can't tell if the blood moon is out. If it isn't then kudos on getting 40 insight before killing rom. That takes some dungeon diving.
πππππ€£
Itβs an Amygdala. Theyβre super friendly. Go ahead get close :)
Pretty good advice if you have the DLC and donβt know how to start it
True
No thanks, one of them ate me while i was stealing some clothes jus out of cathedral ward (btw isn't that amy the way to the dlc?
I donβt think they eat you. I have no idea what they do to you but i know itβs bad. And yes, the one next to cathedral ward sends you to the dlc.
The theory is that they are messengers of the great ones, which explains there being multiple ones. They try to communicate with other beings. However, when they pick you up and reveal themselves to you, the insight of knowing these things exist and how they communicate drives you mad to death. Or... frenzy. I really prefer saying eat you, strange/great way to inter dlc
Elder Fren
Thatβs an Amygdala. BTW congrats on all the insight youβve gained/sorry about the blood moon
Mate I've just been consuming all the unsight I get idk what it does
It gives insight, and some say eyes on the inside.
Though no one remembers what that truly entails
The School of Mensis does, and it resulted in the stillbirth of their minds. The Research Hall patients tried it by using water in their brains, as both a bulwark against dreams and an augur of the Eldritch truth. They lost their physical eyes for it.

Do those same people say Kosm?
Some of them do
As far as Iβm aware >! it helps you summon players and you can buy some stuff in the hunters dream with it !<
>!Yes, you can summon other players and npcs to help you fighting, it's a currency in the hunters' dream and affects things like frenzy. Be aware that certain enemies like the church people get extra attacks and some places become more difficult due to extra enemies spawning. I'd advise against eating all of that insight lol. Hang onto the items until you need them.
It makes the worst enemy in the game harder, and can be stolen by the other worst enemy in the game.
Two good reasons for leaving that stuff in the bag.
It also makes the worst boss in the game substantially more obnoxious
Wait, whoβs the worst boss?
Micolash is who I was referring to. I guess "worst" is subjective but I think he's fucking tedious, even when you've got his patterns down its five minutes of running around only to get one-shotted by A Call Beyond. Insight scales with your beasthood, so I would recommend keeping it around 50-60 or so. Don't know much about it, do what you do best and kill a few beasts
More insight is bad for beasthood, if I remember correctly. Less insight, better beasthood, less chance of frenzy
Having just completed a beast claw build I can confirm, more is bad. I kept my insight around 5 or 6 the whole game, just spent it all on beast blood pellets and papers

Good luck eating more and more of it
LOL I did this on my first play through to crushing every mad men's knowledge I touched thinking I should be getting that number as high as possible. But really it's like an ammunition of sorts that you can use to summon other hunters and when it's high the monsters are harder and scary spooky things happen.
Doesn't look like anything to me.
Genius
I think it's a chaple, Oedon chapel if I'm not mistaken.
I think he might be talking about the hunter right in front of it lmao
Yβall both need some insight
This is better than I thought because I just remembered you need a decent amount of insight to even see them in the first place π€£π€£
ma thereβs a weird fucking cat outside!!!!
HA! Best comment
I'm fucking crying thank you
BLINK mother fucker!

or warps you? Iam not sure anymore. Time for another run I guess. .
If you have the dlc then this particular one does yes
You have been granted eyes to cleanse you of your beastly idiocy.
Looks like the Cathedral Ward. Why, is something different?
Amygdala, Amygdalaβ¦ Have mercy on the poor bastardβ¦hehehe
Oh just a minor God called Amygdala Say hi to Amy!
The more insight you gain (knowledge), the more you see the world for what it is. But there is a cost. It makes you vulnerable to frenzy (insanity).
