I thought you could only reserve a park when you are on one specific trail part or at the end of the trail, and you can only reserve 1 park for each visit to these spots. The only way I can imagine running out of parks is if two players are just being assholes rather than playing the game because at most they could reserve 6 parks a season (2 visits to the lookout trail spot, 2 visits to the river trail spot and 2 visits at end of trail) and even then that’s extreme and you wouldn’t be scoring any points because you would never be visiting parks or taking pictures.

LordVayder

Definitely playing wrong. You shouldn’t come close to running out of parks.

WolfSavage

Are you letting players visit/reserve every available park instead of only 1 one per turn? Gear being the only exception.

jerjerbinks90

Yeah, you can only reserve or visit 1 Park max each time you land on a space with that action.

formerlyanonymous_

To clarify, in the base game, best you could do is ~6 parks per person if you really gamed the system as a group. If you had the reserve/visit site, the copy site, and the end of the trail, you could pull it off. Even then, getting all players to land on all three sites with both meeples would be one hell of an orchestration. Would be the dumbest game though.

Reasonable_Pack2121

We had only two players who were able to pull it off the game just progressed like that that they were able to reserve/visit in most of their turns

Orochi_001

I’m curious how many players you had, and how some of them reserved or visited 48 parks while some reserved or visited zero in three seasons. Also, “a park” means one park.

Reasonable_Pack2121

We were five players and no one reserved/visited 48 parks. Just two players were able to hoard many

Orochi_001

Two players reserved/visited 48 parks? Because that’s how many are in the box.

Reasonable_Pack2121

Not all 48 parks but most parks

ImTheSlyestFox

The rules are real clear. You can only reserve or visit a single park when you reach the end of the trail. Remember that trail locations can't be visited by more than a single hiker unless someone uses their campfire. Assuming that the "reserve a park" advanced tile came out in the first season, the *most* parks that a single player could reserve by season 4 is 12. That is 2 reserves per hiker with 2 hikers, over 3 seasons. That sounds like you could run out, since if 4 players did this, that would be all 48 parks reserved. However, this shouldn't be possible since these locations are exclusive to single hikers unless the campfire is used. You would almost have to try to orchestrate such a thing.

Reasonable_Pack2121

We only reserved or visit one park when we landed on the advance tile (we got it in first season) and then reserve or visit one when we reached trail end. The tile fell into place that two people with max parks visited/reserved could visit the advance visit/reserve tile each game and they also used the river tile where you you can use action of another player and were able to acquire that way. The game just progressed like normally but since we shuffle tiles the tile were placed that way that it was possible for some players to visit/reserve parks plus they also had the canteen that allows them to reserve one park when they gain a water. I read the rules again and watched the videos and can’t wrap my head around the mislays we made. We have played this game with 4 players before and this never happened. We played with five players first time. Edit: changed trail head to trail end

Reasonable_Pack2121

We had the reserve/visit advance tile in first season and the river where we can perform action of another player in second season

ImTheSlyestFox

It seems possible to run out, but it would require pretty bad play to do so, I think. Reserved parks that aren't visited are just wasted actions. So, these players should lose.

parrotandduck

Do you have some other mechanic that’s not working right? Are people limited to landing on the same spot by flipping their campfire? I feel like maybe people are getting more visit opportunities than they should be allowed, since you’re indicating lots of other timings that are within the rules

Reasonable_Pack2121

Yes we did use campfire so one hiker can only share a tile only once. Once that hiker reached the trail end the campfire is lit again so the second hiker can share once too.

100% playing incorrectly

TheGreyBrewer

Based on their explanation, it seems like there were two players that used the particular trail tile order and their canteens to reserve a whole bunch of parks they didn't intend to visit. It's perfectly possible, even while playing by the rules, but certainly a dickish way to play.

tap909

Were you moving down the trail correctly? You can’t go back towards the trailhead.

Reasonable_Pack2121

Sorry when I say trail head I mean the end where the hiker can perform one of the three actions which reserve/visit park or buy gear
