I was in 931 by the yurts and everyone in yurts said the AC was complete shit.

i would personally argue the lack of proximity to centeroo would outweigh the benefits of having AC. you’re gonna be walking twice as far to have AC that is only slightly cooler. those canvas tents don’t seem like they would maintain temperature at all— you’re better off roughing it and finding a solid DIY set up that works. i’m hoping to do an insulated canopy + swamp cooler situation for our groop next year that would run on a solar generator. Tennessee is humid enough that a swamp cooler feels way more effective than trying to run AC.

I've heard the swamp coolers won't work in climates as humid as the farm

oh no! i feel like i was always taught that high humidity is good for swamp coolers but after further inspection that couldn’t be less true! i’m from MN so our humidity situation is much less prevalent, typically at least, and also i’m an idiot. 😂

Yeah, the AC stops competing with the sun at about 09:00 unless you vent (to avoid collapse) on the opposite end from the AC and put up tapestries up to sorta half the tent. This holds the heat off till about 12:00 or 13:00 depending on heat. We were usually up getting showered and ready to go to centeroo by then. As someone who was trying to sleep during the day in order to make night shows, I felt it was worth it.

I for one appreciate the use of military time, 1:00 can mean a couple different things at Roo 🤣

The best you can get is 10 degrees cooler than outside. Saturday at 2pm our tent was 82 degrees inside with the air on high. Definitely felt better than being outside! It is expensive but I thought worth it for how hot it was this year.

GreenSeaNote

I met a guy at WITW who had the ac tents and I was curious about how efficient they are out there, so I asked. He said, "maybe 5° cooler and just as humid"

Eli5195

Yeah with how expensive it all is I feel like it may be better to just rent an RV if that's the route you're trying to go

RichNelly

That’s disappointing man

Sqrtwhisperer

Facts, definitely wanna know, because that heat was killer, I'm either getting some portable ac's or something

RichNelly

A campsite with AC would have made me unstoppable😂

Glittering_Prompt_94

Run quiet gen for = 300-400 & standing air conditioner = 500, air conditioned roo camping = priceless

Sqrtwhisperer

I heard someone say, Bonnaroo surviving the day, To live the night..... ,,I almost lost a few times lol thank God we went to Walmart and waffle house

RichNelly

Haha yep I heard that saying afterwards. But I quickly picked up on that idea and practiced it throughout the weekend. I am kinda sad that I missed a couple of my daytime sets because of the heat tho

Sqrtwhisperer

LYNYwas the only I time I went out early..4pm lol but lucky we was in a great spot so it was nothing to hit the campsite..O-20...
