in all reports we've heard so far it was the club who didn't wanna renew the contract (for financial reasons). In the video it's phrased like it was Reus' decision but I feel like that's just a courtesy from the club.
Either way, this really sucks... Especially since his last match for us in the Westfalenstadion will be an entirely pointless game against fucking Darmstadt
He says he and the club came to the decision not to renew.
So there might have been some sort of offer that he won’t get any playing time guarantees, a severe cut in base salary and mainly appearance and goal bonuses. If that was the case and he didn’t want a contract like that, it’s technically a mutual decision and the preferred the phrasing of both sides agreeing not to renew to ‘we couldn’t come to an agreement on the financials’.
> and the preferred the phrasing of both sides agreeing not to renew to ‘we couldn’t come to an agreement on the financials’.
yes, that's what I meant by "a courtesy from the club"
If the news about his and Terzics relationship is true, guess the coach also had his saying about it. It's still just sad, would have hoped for him to finish his career at BVB.
I wouldn't be so quick to blame this on Terzic alone. With the amount of reports we've been getting and with all the different arguments that were included in them (financial reasons, not wanting to block the development of players like Reyna or Wätjen) I feel like the board was pretty unanimous on this one.
Hummels is in a simialr situation with a difficult relationship towards Terzic and the reports about him were *completely* different.
I would expect management to sit down with the coach and ask him how much production he expects out of a player to set an expected value and then put that into context with what the player's contract is or what they offer him for an extension. We all know the little playing time Terzic gives Reus at the moment and there's no indication that that would change in any way next season. So from a pure numbers standpoint, it absolutely doesn't make sense to keep one of the biggest paychecks going for a rotational role.
Ehh the thing is there are a lot of players who can improve a lot like Reyna, Jbg, Karim, Moukoko and obvsly Sancho. Other than these players we already have Brant and Malen who will probably stay and are the best attackers of Dortmund in the midfield/wing and it is true that Reus is getting a bit old but he can still play better than the players I’ve mentioned above so like… if you don’t wanna extend his contract then why not just let that guy have his time and play his one last season
I don’t think there are a lot of people entirely blaming terzic but I‘m willing to bet that he was a major factor in them not finding consent.
Reus has shown that he still has the quality and if he was to decide, there’s no way he wouldn’t end his career in dortmund.
Probably hoping for an offer from the US or Saudi Arabia. I would do the same. His children, grand children and grand-grand children will never have to work to make a living but to achieve individual fulfillment.
I'm sure he already has a couple of at least loose indications of interest.
He never really struck me as someone who wants to leave Germany. He mentioned in some podcast that he developed a mild fear of flying after his daughter was born, so I wonder how much change he wants to expose his family to.
Money is money, though.
It was coming, reports are saying he’d like to continue his career playing in the US. If that’s the case then give this man a chance to play with Messi, and we have to do everything to make sure we get that CL trophy for our biggest legend and most loyal servant of the club.
Reus was the whole reason I started following football in general let alone this amazing club. Truly upsetting news to start my day.
Haha. I live outside of Philly, support the Union in the EC, have been to Subaru Park, but if he comes to MLS then StL is almost the perfect fit. So probably he will go to LA.
Yeah unfortunately we can almost always bank on these big euro players going to 1 of the big teams or the teams they have financial ties to. Crossing my fingers Kevin Durant’s next team is the Union
Was Lutz Pfannensteil ever in charge of a team Reus played for?
edit: no, no he has not.
also edit: He does have ties to stl city in that Bürki is at St Louis City SC and stl could buy down either Löwen or Bürki to being a non dp using tam (which they have, also stupid bs mls salary rules)
Yeah I don’t think they will be like $350-500 like when Miami comes to BMO but they definitely won’t be $35 anymore lol. I think when Chicago came with Bastian Schweinsteiger they were around ~$75, factor in Inflation I could see $100 tickets.
A Dortmund without Reus and a Reus that's not wearing our black and yellow kit is something that I and many fans will take a lot of time to get accustomed to because we've never seen it before.
Reus is a hero, no doubt about it. I'm grateful to have seen him play for the club that I've chosen to identify with and he's a big part as to why. May he enjoy the rest of his career and let's look forward to the day we see him in our stadium once again.
I hate to be *that* guy but I do sometimes see him on occasion in his Mönchengladbach uniform in Bundesliga highlights during half-times of Dortmund games :P
Breaks my heart once again that he will never get that Bundesliga title. Don't think I will ever get over last year unless he leaves with the CL trophy instead.
And I don't even care that much about titles to be honest but the picture of him lying on the ground on May 27 is burned into my brain. It has to be overwritten with him smiling on a bus parade this year.
So far he only had one single bus parade and he sat on there with crutches and a torn ACL ffs. Covid took away the other one. It's all so fucking tragic.
Im really heartbroken. I tried to just not think about it so now seeing it confirmed is a real gutpunch. Really dont think its the time for the announcment and reminds me of when just before a Semifinal we got the news that Götze is leaving. Just dont understand how both sides didnt do everything for one more year just to have another chance at Reus winning the League with us. This also confirms that he wont even get the record for most Goals for us.
Yeh I know, Sammer is "objectively" more correct as the greatest ever for us. But I wasn't even born then and became a Dortmund fan right before Reus joined us. For me, he is our greatest ever
He is, but that unfortunately means we are giving 30 minutes of run to him, as opposed to anyone else.
Those are 30 minutes that could also go to the likes of a Reyna, or other young players. I'm glad Reus has stayed as long as he has, and I love him - but all good things come to an end and at a certain point, it simply benefits BVB more to have those 30 minutes going to a JBG / Mouki / Watjen type player.
Everyone wanted Reyna to get his playtime - but keeping Reus almost certainly means Reyna is gone for good because there's just not playing time for either.
I was really hoping that Terzic would recognize that Reus was right in demanding changes in the coaching team. Really sad that it is going to end this way ...
Man oh Man we really need to get this man a champions league, carried us in the 2018/19 season but yet dropped points when he was injured briefly, and last season the team blows it on the final day.
If the team doesn't play full throttle for our legendary captain, i don't know what else will motivate them
This guy was on cover of fifa 17 I don't who he was what team he played asked my brother's who he was they said Dortmund at era when everyone choose club on Messi or Ronaldo I decided to choose him I went to love this club feels who world to me just cause of this guy man i am not crying just water in my eyes pls give him cl pls 😭😭😭
I hope he genuinely left on his terms, doesn't seem like it though. To the people who are saying that it was right to not offer him a contract extension, don't moan when players use us like stepping stones in the future when you support this kind of treatment of a legend.
He's done a lot for this club, I would love for him to be in the starting line up again, he's a legend, he'll forever be my idol, he'll forever be remembered as one of the best, even stayed with us when Dortmund was close to relegation in 2015, all I want is for Marco to hold that Henkelpotts in his last season in Borussia Dortmund, and seeing him announce his leave really made my Friday down.
Danke Marco!! Wir lieben dich so sehr!! Einmal Borusse, immer Borusse! Echte Liebe.
Even though I'm fucking livid that our club doesn't respect a legend like him with an extention, parting ways would be the best for both parties.
Reus is clearly not getting any significant minutes here, and he wanted to continue playing. He's still gonna be the absolute club legend in our hearts no matter what tho.
Dortmund better prepare a HUGE FUCKING ceremony at the at the end of the season bro, I swear to god.
Reus DESERVES EVERYTHING.
Bro, what exactly does it have to do with "respect" to extend his contract? he is way past his time, he will sit on the bench. While also costing us money.
Respect is talking to each other, finding some common ground and then take actions.
yeah I get that, but not everyone is gonna look it rationally at the club's level.
The reality is reus resign his contract MULTIPLE times during our time of need, despite the fact that there's more lucrative offers out there. He stayed loyal, and ride the highs and lows with us because of his love for the club.
So emotionally, us fans would most definitely like to see the club would honor our legend and let him retire here.
And don't say like reus is completely washed or something, he still got enough in the bag to contribute even if he starts from the bench.
I will respect his decision regardless.
I am not saying that it is true, but maybe Reus doesn't want a rotation only role.
It's fucking sad and he is one of the biggest legends of this club. But it's frustrating how many people on reddit insult Terzic or the club for things they have no deeper knowledge about.
yeah that's 100% what I thought about it too. Reus still have some gas left in his tank and he probably wanted to play instead of sitting in the bench/wanted to explore if he is stuck with a rotation role.
But I mean I totally get why people are criticizing terzic as well. They reportedly had some serious issue regarding management and might even had some conflict over it.
Plus, it's terzic who ultimately decided to cut reus's minutes significantly so...
I don't know what to say, I just want to lie down and cry myself to sleep and wake up to realise that this is just a nightmare.
Marco 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
And at this time, too...nightmare flashbacks...
I just want to ask: does loyalty not mean anything in this world anymore? Does love not matter anymore? If money is the only thing that matters, what even is the point?
I'm literally emotional thinking about it. This man and his undying loyalty to bvb is one of the main reasons why I started supporting this club. It was my lifelong dream to watch this man play live but this seems impossible now.
Thank you so much Marco for everything you did and to show real character.
I hope he gets a solid transfer to MLS and can enjoy his time in the states!
Personally it's sad to see, but having watched the video, I'm hoping he is sincerely leaving on GOOD terms and there hasn't been any ill-treatment to a legend
I’m so sad 😭💔literally my favourite player ever and one of the reasons I started supporting this club, I’ll never forgive Terzic and the club for not renewing his contract when he clearly wanted to, thanks for everything legend 💛
I didn't think I'd feel this sad when the announcment eventually came, but very greatful for all the years of leadership and dedication. End of an era.
I will miss him dearly. 💛
I had him on my Xbox background for years (2017-2023 or so) and a 17/18 trikot with his name is still the only one I own. Hopefully he'll have a good time wherever he goes and we can see him again down the road with the club legends team.
Bayern fan coming in peace. As a fan of German football in general, I cannot downplay a single thing about this man. At his peak, he was the most fun player in Europe for me to watch. He never played for my club, but it still feels like the end of an era. He should have been there when we won the wc in ‘14- it’s a shame what injuries did to him.
Nothing but respect Marcinho. Danke.
I was doing well just reading the stories. Then came across the video on tik tok and it made me tear up.
Reus was my first purchased jersey. Even though it was expected, still hurts.
Feels like this decision has been coming for a while now but doesn’t make it hurt any less. Thank you for the goals, leadership, loyalty and all the great memories Marco.
I've been supporting Dortmund since 2010. I still remember the day the team signed him from Gladbach. I practically grew up with him. Needless to say, I haven't cried like I did today in years.
I remember when Marcel Schmelzer started his long fadeaway - he was my first favourite player for Dortmund - but his fadeaway hurt...and Reus endured a second season of neo-banishment. Terzic and he love not each other...
I wish you the best Marco Reus.
And Dortmund loves you!

respect marco - this gave me literal chills
Be realistic. He had some good games for us this season. But with his history of injuries, he should be happy that he played on this level for so many years. I'm just happy for him that he is leaving on his terms. And that he is not forced out or has to hang up his boots because of an injury.
Edit: + this season
> And that he is not forced out
this is literally what happened, though. By all reports, the club didn't offer him an extension. You think Reus *wants* to play his last couple seasons in the MLS instead of for Dortmund?
"At the end of his career, he is seeking a new adventure." doesn't sound to me like he was forced out. They also want to offer him a job at the club when he ends his career. Again: Doesn't feel forced out to me.
Imagine the same video but Reus is like "so that's it guys, they didn't wanna extend my contract under any kind of financial conditions that would make any sense to accept". Obviously that's **never** how such a video would be phrased **independently** of what actually happened.
And since we've heard nothing but reports of Reus not getting an extension due to financial reasons, I think we *do* know what happened.
> A lot of assumptions. Not really anything substantial
yeah, I'm not writing an academic paper here, jesus, who talks like this? Obviously it's just my assumption.
> If I was unhappy or forced out, I wouldn't do such a video
Yeah, you do seem to be that kinda person.
> yeah, I'm not writing an academic paper here, jesus, who talks like this? Obviously it's just my assumption.
But why assume the worst?
>By all reports, the club didn't offer him an extension.
Why not link to the reports? No need to write an academic paper. Just link one of those many reports.
>Yeah, you do seem to be that kinda person.
Whatever that means. If you want to help your employer save face or paint them in a good light after getting fucked over or forced out, that's on you.
> But why assume the worst?
you write that and afterwards you write "after getting fucked over or forced out".
The conversation may have went like this:
Kehl / Watzke: "sorry Marco but we just don't have the financial means to give you another contract with a similar salary. We can offer you another contract but it would be below what you are used to and you would probably get a much better offer somewhere else. But after your active career you'll have a place here at bvb and we hope we'll see you again very soon! Now, let's work on that video to break the news to the fans. Of course we'll communicate that it was your decision to not renew."
Reus: "alright, I understand the situation we're all in. I'd like to explore my options to end my active career on my terms at another destination but I'd love to continue working with you all in the future! Now let's get to work"
*or*
Reus: "no >:("
>you write that and afterwards you write "after getting fucked over or forced out".
Based on your assumption that he was forced out.
>The conversation may have went like this:
Are we writing fan fiction now?
And if the conversation went this way: How was he forced out? Forced out to me implies him sitting out the remainder of his contract on the bench or somewhere in the stadium. Someone who is unwanted and unappreciated. But Reus situation is nothing like that.
I am not surprised, he did not play much in the last weeks/month and Brandt took over his position.
I hope he and the team can achieve a bit more this season maybe Wembley or even the champions league… no matter what the result is going to be he is a club legend.
This might also be the opportunity for Reyna to step up and challenge Brandt for the starting position next season.
Our Goat forever. Most talented player wearing the kit, always loyal in an era where players jump from opportunity to opportunity in a second. He is one of the first players in europe everybody thinks of when it comes to club players who define a club like Totti or Barca legends.
I really hope that he made the decision and had all the freedom to stay here and gets the salary he wants.
Marco will forever eat for free in Dortmund and my jersey will forever shine on my wall.
I love this guy so much. Thanks for everything.
Have to respect it. Thanks for everything Marco
Only says he won’t renew in Dortmund. No mention of retirement. Wow. End of an era.
Really not wondering with the playtime Terzic has given him, unfortunately. Forever a legend, hope the team gets him the CL win.
in all reports we've heard so far it was the club who didn't wanna renew the contract (for financial reasons). In the video it's phrased like it was Reus' decision but I feel like that's just a courtesy from the club. Either way, this really sucks...
His last game as the UCL final would be incredible though
If the news about his and Terzics relationship is true, guess the coach also had his saying about it. It's still just sad, would have hoped for him to finish his career at BVB.

Im so done with this terzic hate. It’s not his fault Reus is older now and not on the same level he was 5 years ago.
TERZIC MADE REUS AGE
Ehh the thing is there are a lot of players who can improve a lot like Reyna, Jbg, Karim, Moukoko and obvsly Sancho. Website mentioned he wants a new adventure and I don't think that this means searching a powerful ancient artifact in the Cambodian jungle.
Now I desperately want to see it
Marco would look pretty dope with a pith helmet on his head and a machete in his hand.
I'd imagine there would be a number of teams in Germany willing to sign him.
He did go to Monchengladbach when he was young, that isn’t that far away from Dortmund either
I’ll raise you I hope he scores in Paris or the final. With 10 mins of playing time
Me: wow that Champions win actually made me feel good momentarily Football universe: Ha. Naive little man
I WAS PLANNING ON REWATCHING THE GAME AND THEY RUINED IT
This is heartbreaking. We have to get the Champions League now. For Marco.
It was coming, reports are saying he’d like to continue his career playing in the US. He’d love it at Subaru Park that’s all I’m saying
As a german living in Philadelphia I’d shit my fuckin pants if this happened
Would love to watch him in nyc 🤩
He has connections at CITYPark!
More like shitty park
Haha. I live outside of Philly, support the Union in the EC, have been to Subaru Park, but if he comes to MLS then StL is almost the perfect fit. So probably he will go to LA.

shitty wok?
As much as I hate seeing him leave BVB, he would look fantastic and be adored mightily in Timbers green and gold. Either way, he is a legend.
Hard to not get excited thinking about the GOAT in your city tbh
Get that man with Kai!
DOOP
God I hope he doesn’t go to Toronto, my wife will want to go to so many games and I don’t think my wallet can afford that. 😆
As a Canadian I would love it just to be able to see him play but I bet it would get expensive quick! Lol
Yeah I don’t think they will be like $350-500 like when Miami comes to BMO but they definitely won’t be $35 anymore lol. I think when Chicago came with Bastian Schweinsteiger they were around ~$75, factor in Inflation I could see $100 tickets.
We have a (halfway empty) yellow-ish wall here in Nashville he might enjoy.
A Dortmund without Reus and a Reus that's not wearing our black and yellow kit is something that I and many fans will take a lot of time to get accustomed to because we've never seen it before. Now He can come back to Gladbach for a Season and shoot us to CL
I was so fucking hoping this is a troll video. Please no 😭😭😭😭😭😭
everyone's gotta leave sometime though, why not on a high like dortmund is right now
Breaks my heart once again that he will never get that Bundesliga title. Don't think I will ever get over last year unless he leaves with the CL trophy instead. And I don't even care that much about titles to be honest but the picture of him lying on the ground on May 27 is burned into my brain. Silly Borussia Dortmund, april first was a month ago
Seeing this doesn’t even feel real man… can’t believe the day he‘ll leave is really coming
Can Reus please lift the trophy for a final memory? One last dance boys
Im really heartbroken. I tried to just not think about it so now seeing it confirmed is a real gutpunch. Really dont think its the time for the announcment and reminds me of when just before a Semifinal we got the news that Götze is leaving. I was already having a bad spell of days, and now this just does it.
He’ll always be my captain
who's cutting onions? all the best legend
I’ll never forgive you Mainz. Never.
If there are no Mainz haters left in the world, I'd be dead.
Man this makes me so sad. Absolute legend at this club and for someone who started to watch football in the late 2000s, he was the main character.
Our greatest player ever and my favorite player ever. I can't believe it tbh...
I get it’s Marco’s moment, but Matthias Sammer won a Ballon d’Or while at Dortmund.
Yeh I know, Sammer is "objectively" more correct as the greatest ever for us. But I wasn't even born then and became a Dortmund fan right before Reus joined us. For me, he is our greatest ever
A bit disappointed with the outcome. He is still a quality player for 30 minutes every week.

That makes last years Bundesliga fumble even more heart breaking
I cannot imagine a Dortmund without Reus I feel like crying
after supporting BVB for over 8 years I got my first jersey yesterday and it’s Reus’. Now I’m sad 😭
Was really hoping he'd get another year... The fact that he's gonna retire somewhere else is kinda sad but I hope he enjoys himself wherever he goes.
:(
Wtf man, what a sad way to start the day
WE NEED TO WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NOW
I was really hoping that Terzic would recognize that Reus was right in demanding changes in the coaching team. Really sad that it is going to end this way ...
Now we must win the UCL, I don't want Marco to leave without a major trophy😭
The man that made me fall in love with the club, even had my handles named after him. So long legend.
GG Reus. Thanks for all you've done for the club!
Man oh Man we really need to get this man a champions league, carried us in the 2018/19 season but yet dropped points when he was injured briefly, and last season the team blows it on the final day. Exactly
😭😭😭
War leider absehbar. Doof aber😢
I am literally crying.
We gotta go for it all in Paris & Wembley [for Reus](https://youtu.be/BtEC3pNEMhY?si=gibEHt59yqo4Wxhp).
I was about to go to bed but I don’t even know if I can fall asleep tonight after seeing this
So now that champions league is secured he should be starting alot of bundesliga games right? There'd be no reason not to
In my mind he deserves a big sendoff he's a great legend for Dortmund and he'll be missed. I always thought he was gonna retire a Dortmund player.
Thank you for everything legend. I'll forever cherish your time here. We all love you man
Even though I'm fucking livid that our club doesn't respect a legend like him with an extention, parting ways would be the best for both parties. Fuck. Just....fuck.
Fuck man... :(
I'm literally emotional thinking about it.
Please win the UCL before you go! We'll miss you
He’ll always be my captain Danke Marco 🖤💛
Knew this day would come but still hurts like a bitch
Holy fuck, the day I never thought it would come... Holy shit
Such such bullshit, no matter what happens in the future I will always come back to rhis as my biggest con against Terzic
L L L L L L L L L
also Reus needs to start and play 90 min every single league game now. he deserves that at least
Personally it's sad to see, but having watched the video, I'm hoping he is sincerely leaving on GOOD terms and there hasn't been any ill-treatment to a legend
Fuck man…
Forever a legend. Thank you.
I’m so sad 😭💔literally my favourite player ever and one of the reasons I started supporting this club, I’ll never forgive Terzic and the club for not renewing his contract when he clearly wanted to, thanks for everything legend 💛
I’ll be attending his last game at the Westfalenstadion; this will be bittersweet to watch 😞 I hope we push him to a CL Final victory
I didn't think I'd feel this sad when the announcment eventually came, but very greatful for all the years of leadership and dedication. End of an era.
I will miss him dearly. 💛 I had him on my Xbox background for years (2017-2023 or so) and a 17/18 trikot with his name is still the only one I own. Hopefully he'll have a good time wherever he goes and we can see him again down the road with the club legends team.
NOOOOOO!!!!! 😭I wasn’t ready for this. Now I’m begging for this team to win the CL, he more than deserves this
So sad he walks away without winning the Bundesliga :-(
If it’s coming from him then fine but if it’s because the club won’t that really really hirts
Why now? Why not wait until after the CL?
Because it does not matter? Everybody knew. He is not Götze.
Terrible look for the club, absolute disgrace.
Danke.
Darth Vader “nooooooooooooooo”
My favorite player and the only player whose name I get on the back of the kits I buy.
A sad day. My absolute favorite player ever.
100% a club legend. I miss him already...
Im getting strong Kuba vibes from this. I hope that im wrong.
BVB Legend
o7 my captain <3
Hits me more than I thought it would, especially because the signs were obvious the last months
I was doing well just reading the stories. Then came across the video on tik tok and it made me tear up. Reus was my first purchased jersey. Even though it was expected, still hurts.
Genuinely shed tears. He's the biggest reason I follow the club, really hope he goes out on top with the CL.
I will cry on the last matchday. :(
Legend, thanks for the loyalty big man. Borussia legend through and through.
time to win some titles.
So sad :( bloody Legend! He would have deserved a big title. But there is still a chance.
))):
Thank you Marco! I was going to get a Hummels jersey but this firmly cemented Reus on the back of this years kit.
Feels like this decision has been coming for a while now but doesn’t make it hurt any less. Thank you for the goals, leadership, loyalty and all the great memories Marco.
Crying.
Miss you already legend
Reus will always be my favorite player, made me fall in love with football and Dortmund. Let's win that Champions League for him now🖤💛!!
😔😔💔
I've been supporting Dortmund since 2010. I still remember the day the team signed him from Gladbach. I practically grew up with him. Needless to say, I haven't cried like I did today in years.
Only the worlds top athletes could have had the same injuries and heartbreak as Reus and come back the same or better than before, Danke Marco
Fuck... This is a shock. I need to process this.
Speechless
I cant even begin to process this.. when this hits I'll be fucking hysteric
This breaks my heart, can we start building him a statue now?
In three years I want Him to sign a one day contract so he can retire as one of us I'm sad that he didn't said that he will maybe return
No man this is tragic
ohhhh man, i want dortmund to win the CL now
sad Reus will leave, for me he is one of the top 200 bundesliga players of all time
We are getting old…
Now, as a bayern fan, I kinda want him to win the championship.

He definetly could have played 2 more seasons. This sucks :(((
Be realistic. He had some good games for us this season. But with his history of injuries, he should be happy that he played on this level for so many years. I'm just happy for him that he is leaving on his terms. And that he is not forced out or has to hang up his boots because of an injury. Edit: + this season
> And that he is not forced out this is literally what happened, though.
Not really anything substantial. If I was unhappy or forced out, I wouldn't do such a video. But that's also an assumption.
> A lot of assumptions. Not really anything substantial yeah, I'm not writing an academic paper here, jesus, who talks like this? Obviously it's just my assumption. > If I was unhappy or forced out, I wouldn't do such a video Yeah, you do seem to be that kinda person.
> yeah, I'm not writing an academic paper here, jesus, who talks like this? Obviously it's just my assumption. But why assume the worst? >By all reports, the club didn't offer him an extension. Why not link to the reports? No need to write an academic paper. Just link one of those many reports. >Yeah, you do seem to be that kinda person. Whatever that means. If you want to help your employer save face or paint them in a good light after getting fucked over or forced out, that's on you.
> But why assume the worst? you write that and afterwards you write "after getting fucked over or forced out". The conversation may have went like this: Kehl / Watzke: "sorry Marco but we just don't have the financial means to give you another contract with a similar salary. We can offer you another contract but it would be below what you are used to and you would probably get a much better offer somewhere else. But after your active career you'll have a place here at bvb and we hope we'll see you again very soon! Now, let's work on that video to break the news to the fans. Of course we'll communicate that it was your decision to not renew." Reus: "alright, I understand the situation we're all in. I'd like to explore my options to end my active career on my terms at another destination but I'd love to continue working with you all in the future! Now let's get to work" *or* Reus: "no >:("
>you write that and afterwards you write "after getting fucked over or forced out". Based on your assumption that he was forced out. >The conversation may have went like this: Are we writing fan fiction now? And if the conversation went this way: How was he forced out? Forced out to me implies him sitting out the remainder of his contract on the bench or somewhere in the stadium. Someone who is unwanted and unappreciated. But Reus situation is nothing like that.
I am not surprised, he did not play much in the last weeks/month and Brandt took over his position. I hope he and the team can achieve a bit more this season maybe Wembley or even the champions league… no matter what the result is going to be he is a club legend. This might also be the opportunity for Reyna to step up and challenge Brandt for the starting position next season.
Reyna isn’t gonna challenge Brandt lol
Our Goat forever. Most talented player wearing the kit, always loyal in an era where players jump from opportunity to opportunity in a second. He is one of the first players in europe everybody thinks of when it comes to club players who define a club like Totti or Barca legends. I really hope that he made the decision and had all the freedom to stay here and gets the salary he wants. Marco will forever eat for free in Dortmund and my jersey will forever shine on my wall. I love this guy so much. Thanks for everything.
Is that why he was not playing vs PSG ?
I mean the full match
No, thats because he is ~~36~~ 34 and not a starter anymore
