The Quiet Few has excellent smash burgers. All their food is good. Only note is that they get super busy on Fridays and Saturdays - and it may be hard to get a seat (it’s a small bar).
I also *really* enjoyed Hojoko’s burger for a thin patty. It’s on the pricey side, but good god.
It's good and consistent. They are open for lunch every day and have beer that is (wait for it...) NOT IPAs on their draft list. Friendly service. Generous pours. No bullshit fees.
Highly recommended.
Absolutely. I’m so glad they reopened in general, but it being in my neighborhood is awesome.
Their beer list is small and solid. I love that it isn’t filled with hazy IPAs, the variety is great. The food is solid and unpretentious. The prices are super reasonable, and the staff are great. Their cocktails are classic and top notch.
My neighborhood bar too. Brewers down the street is lying on pours and waaaay to expensive. What are your other go tos in the area? Mine are Tacos El Amigo, Guanachapis on river, and Carl's.
My favorite smash burger in the city is Tasty Burger in Fenway by a mile. It might not be *the best* but it's up there for the price.
Burger, fries, and a drink for under 20 bucks.
I’m anti-smash burger personally, Tasty Burger is amazing but I wouldn’t consider it smash style. It’s sort of fast casual ish and not a thicc thicc gourmet pub style but it’s a real deal burger imo. It’s got a solid body with pink in the middle, juicy, flavorful. It’s a great middle ground. Late night, some of the best prices/value in Boston (beer too), absolutely support it. Not what OP’s looking for tho imo where it’s been pretty near completely smashed flat and is all crispy browned bits with pretty much no meaty center.
Had a beer and burger after a Sox game last year at that tasty burger. There was a mouse straight up running around on the actual bar.
I realize mice and rats are a reality in most of this city. But to see some straight up on the bar was shocking. Can’t say I’ll ever eat there again.
Definitely The Quiet Few, or their new sister restaurant Small Victories. Winter Hill Brewing also has a good one. Shy bird in both Kendall and southie.
Hunters in Southie has a double patty Smash burger w Bacon + Avocado that is only $7 (w a bag of chips) during lunch on weekdays. It is an amazing deal and burger.
If you’re looking for thin smashed greasy burgers then Charlie’s Kitchen in Harvard square is what you’re looking for (I know that’s Cambridge) but my personal favorite is Mr Bartley’s which is also in Harvard square.
Mike and Patty’s used to do a pop up called Up and Down Burger in Jamaica Plain, but they stopped operating sadly. Mike and Patty’s does awesome breakfast sandwiches though.
Haven’t found anything that stacks up yet.
Don't know any in town myself, but the best I've had in that vein is a double cheeseburger at The Billy Goat Tavern in Chicago. That was one helluva thin patty burger.
Its not in boston but in downtown new bedford. The place is called DNB burgers. I am a chef. I've traveled a lot, eaten many, many places. Hands down the best burgers i have ever had. A bit on the pricier side but well worth it.

I'm not qualified to say it's the best or not- but I had a smash style burger at the newer restaurant in Fenway called D W French that I thought was tasty in case you want to try it out. I found this picture of it on Google- those are 2 smashed patties not 1 big one.

They have a new location called Small Victories in Southie now. It’s a much bigger space!
TQF is awesome! Owner is such a great dude too!
stop telling people about this place it's gonna get too crowded and i love it
Then.. Small Victories in Southie. Same people :)

betting that times ain’t tough for the owners of that place
Second the Hojoko burger. It’s solid.
Not Boston, but Deep Ellum in Waltham has an onion smash burger. Best one I’ve had anywhere so far.
To be that pedant, that's an Oklahoma-style burger; and yes, it's delicious.
Sure, didn’t want to overcomplicate it for OP if they didn’t know what that was. They will also do it without, if onions aren’t someone’s thing.
crazy good kitchen makes a solid oklahoma style smash as well
Love CGK! Just ordered their Oklahoma burger last night. Malden location is best 😎

Great draft beer selection too
Thanks for the recommendation!
It is very good! I was a bit disappointed only because I went there hoping for the burger I used to get when it was in Allston.

Shy Bird - Ands it’s called smash burger. Get a double and add bacon, best burger around.
Second shy bird. It’s excellent
Is their south Boston location also good?
My favorite smash burger in the city is Tasty Burger in Fenway by a mile. It might not be *the best* but it's up there for the price. Burger, fries, and a drink for under 20 bucks.
Burger, fries, and a PBR is $12.

Yeah it’s not a smash burger, it’s just a thin burger
Second. But quality is way down from what it was 10 years ago before the expansion
Had a beer and burger after a Sox game last year at that tasty burger. There was a mouse straight up running around on the actual bar. I realize mice and rats are a reality in most of this city. But to see some straight up on the bar was shocking. Can’t say I’ll ever eat there again.
That happened to me (years ago) in the Seven’s bar. It was surreal. Exactly like your description.
Why do I love their Blue cheese burger god can’t recreate it anywhere
Is there a noticeable difference in quality between tastyburger locations?
I remember stumbling in there before a game one day and it was fantastic. But yeah was also 10+ years ago
Came here to say this. Also, happy cake day!
Crazy Good Kitchen on Newbury (they have a few other locations too)
I love this place, they make a great Hot Chicken too.
Their Buffalo chicken fries or whatever are really fucking good too
CGK is fantastic, but it's nutso pricey. Like, worth it but only once in a while imo.
CGK is to die for ugh! Amazing burgers.
Hojoko
Shake shack?
Ziggy Bombs. Amazing steak and cheese and smash burgers. Right off Comm by the bu bridge.
Definitely The Quiet Few, or their new sister restaurant Small Victories. Winter Hill Brewing also has a good one. Shy bird in both Kendall and southie.
Boston Burger Company just started doing smash burger options
ok mr moneybags
420 deal or bust.
in a way you might say they've always smashed their burgers, just vertically instead of horizontally
Dotty’s (formerly the Townshend) in Quincy
Hunters in Southie has a double patty Smash burger w Bacon + Avocado that is only $7 (w a bag of chips) during lunch on weekdays. It is an amazing deal and burger.
Monument Tavern in Charlestown
Stone Deli is the best Smashburger I’ve had in Boston by a margin. They use house-made buns and the topping mix/sauce/flavor profile is perfection.
Tasty Burger - especially the central sq location. Elm Street taproom in Davis square.
If you’re looking for thin smashed greasy burgers then Charlie’s Kitchen in Harvard square is what you’re looking for (I know that’s Cambridge) but my personal favorite is Mr Bartley’s which is also in Harvard square.
Charlie’s are not smash burgers, but they are a good OG thin burger spot. I’m so glad they still exist.
Roxy’s
Yes Roxy’s is really good; love the shredded lettuce on it too
Two thin patties on a small burger? There was this Scottish place we used to have around here, McSomething ... it'll come to me.
Mike and Patty’s used to do a pop up called Up and Down Burger in Jamaica Plain, but they stopped operating sadly. Mike and Patty’s does awesome breakfast sandwiches though. Haven’t found anything that stacks up yet.
Shy Bird is surprisingly amazing for a burger
Crazy Good Kitchen on Newbury for sure. Murrays in Revere is my personal favorite.
Mainely Burger in Brighton is solid for this kind of burger.
Don't know any in town myself, but the best I've had in that vein is a double cheeseburger at The Billy Goat Tavern in Chicago. That was one helluva thin patty burger.
Smashburger
Southern Pines at Bow Market has smashburgers on Mondays - worth the trip. Their other sandwiches are excellent as well
I’ve been craving In-N-Out and Rally’s fries ever since I moved to Boston. I think the closest I’ve tried is Tasty Burger 🍔
Grays Hall (Southie) has an incredible smash burger
Not necessarily smash burger. But lees burger in Brookline is dank
Wild Willy’s but it’s not a smash burger. This is Boston not L.A.
Yeah but they are $$$ now, used to be reasonable
Are they still a thing? Last I heard the one in Quincy got turned into a dunkies test kitchen
Yeah there’s one left. Rip to that location it was my original
I had a smash burger from scores in front of the garden a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. I got the Bergeron burger
Wheelhouse has great smash burgers! It’s also in this cool high end food court so it’s pretty fun for a big group or a casual date
stubbys in seaport does pretty good burgers
Burger King
Its not in boston but in downtown new bedford. The place is called DNB burgers. I am a chef. I've traveled a lot, eaten many, many places. Hands down the best burgers i have ever had. A bit on the pricier side but well worth it.

Hojoko.
“CA style” one of the most depressing things I’ve read
Please say it’s not the smash burger in bolyston street , most horrible place I’ve been to .
