The worst doesn’t necessarily mean bad. For me winning $1000 dollars is worst option between winning that and winning $10000 and living in a world where I don’t need to rely on winning money lol but that’s still a pretty good option
Y’all we can’t be downvoting opinions we disagree with. Just ridiculous. People can have opinions. They took the risk of commenting on this post but can we just be nice, opinions work in funny ways
I am just guessing because the boys actually won a Oscar for Not Strong Enough, so I am guessing it is well loved lol. Also, the song appears on the top tracks on my streaming app.
Sorry but what!?
Thats one of my favorite of theirs. It’s a song about vulnerability and not only did they write about it, they realized it by presenting it half baked and basically raw.
I think any song on this thread is going to be controversial to be fair. I get what they were going for and don’t think it’s awful or anything, but think it retreads themes which are already present (and better executed) on other songs. There’s no particular melodies/instrumentals or lyrics that stand out as superb, and it feels a bit forced at times.
I feel like it’s fairly comparable to ‘Christine’ by Lucy, which also does a better job.
I personally love the song, but it gets lotssss of hate from people who don’t enjoy boygenius. Every time I see somebody (who isn’t a fan) hating on twitter they always bring up that song.
personally, they’re all masterpieces to me, but let’s stop downvoting people just for disagreeing with you. i think all the answers in this are ass but it doesn’t matter lol
Yeah I don't really like it as much compared to the other songs on the album. For a song with so many streams it feels a little overrated. Good but not great.
This won’t be a popular opinion here but I don’t love Cool About It
While I appreciate the sentiment behind the lyrics, I find songs with interpolated melodies annoying. The Simon & Garfunkel plinky-plunkiness of it all really gets in the way of me emotionally connecting to the lyrics in the same way as I do with other boygenius songs.
super hot take but it’s a split between cool about it and not strong enough. i hate pop music and only listen to alternative (think phoebe style and shoegaze) and not strong enough is just too poppy mainstream sounding for me, although i understand that when a band is trying to win awards they put a more mainstream song on the album (radio single) and that’s why it sounds different than the rest of the album. the second skip would be satanist, but the slow bit at the end saves it. for cool about it, i absolutely love the lyrics and tempo, but i simply just hate the plucky banjo. still love bg sm and have seen them live, just those specific songs are not my taste. also im appalled by all the revolution 0 haters, and all the hate towards julien-focussed songs (even though i do understand everyone has their opinions)
I’ve heard this take and it sure confuses me. Just can’t get into it? I vibe with the three verses and how they play off each other. Also I’m a exvangelical and I vibe with satanism, anarchism, and nihilism so i think they wrote it for me.
Ya, I mean it’s not unique to this song but I love the switch of each of them getting a verse and each of them singing a harmony, their voice combos on each verse are perfect.
And you really got to get into the swing of it, the guitar hits are great with the softer parts surrounding it
I haven't paid attention to the lyrics. It kind of sounds drone-y and not special to me. But ya I really dislike her voice. I've been downvoted by many.
If the lyrics weren’t so meaningful to me I would probably somewhat agree. I love Lucy’s voice but if you’re not paying much attention to what she’s saying in the song it can seem a bit dreary
Boygenius has no bad songs, too small of a discography and too good of music
The worst doesn’t necessarily mean bad. For me winning $1000 dollars is worst option between winning that and winning $10000 and living in a world where I don’t need to rely on winning money lol but that’s still a pretty good option
FOR EVERYONE SAYING REVOLUTION 0, COUNT YOUR DAYS
damn, i really like Cool About It, Revolution 0, and Without You Without Them ☠️
same 😭
Y’all we can’t be downvoting opinions we disagree with. Just ridiculous. People can have opinions. They took the risk of commenting on this post but can we just be nice, opinions work in funny ways
I was just wondering. What’s the most popular?
I'd say Not Strong Enough or Bite the Hand
Yes, Not Strong Enough! Thanks!
It was the first song I heard of the band (and my personal favourite)
I really like it as well. Just wondered if I was missing something since I don’t really listen to the radio just downloaded their albums/eps, etc.
I am just guessing because the boys actually won a Oscar for Not Strong Enough, so I am guessing it is well loved lol. Also, the song appears on the top tracks on my streaming app.
For me it‘s Black Hole. I love each and every boygenius song but I feel like this one is simply not (supposed to be) their strongest one.
Julien’s sigh in Powers is the best.
I agree with this one. I also think their *best* is powers
powers is in my top 3 for sure ^^

It is still an awesome song!!! :)
Can I cop out and say Without You Without Them? I can't let go of any other song.
THATS MY FAVOURITE
JAIL
NO
Naaaa I want to walk down the aisle to this
This is the only one I could come up with too. None of them…well, maybe Without You Without Them if I gotta
Never loved Revolution 0 that much
😟
‘Leonard Cohen’ in my opinion. Some good ideas but feels a bit half baked at points.
Sorry but what!? Thats one of my favorite of theirs. It’s a song about vulnerability and not only did they write about it, they realized it by presenting it half baked and basically raw.

I’ll check out’Christine’. But you’re right, it’s a controversial topic. I just happen to connect with the song in a way others might not.
Obviously it’s all subjective so ‘worst’ kinda lacks meaning, it’s just my opinion and I’m happy it’s connecting with some people!
Bro, I too connected with it.
I agree - it also feels weirdly dismissive of Cohen’s work and faith which I dislike.
This is the strange take I was looking for. Not honouring a legacy? You see it as dismissive?
😖
I personally love the song, but it gets lotssss of hate from people who don’t enjoy boygenius. Every time I see somebody (who isn’t a fan) hating on twitter they always bring up that song.
The disrespect towards Revolution 0 though :(
It’s Ketchum, ID… sorry yall
personally, they’re all masterpieces to me, but let’s stop downvoting people just for disagreeing with you. i think all the answers in this are ass but it doesn’t matter lol
I gotta say I don't think they have any absolute skips. Just depends on how I'm feeling on a given day what I do or don't listen to.
i am not going to add an opinion to this because i do not feel like getting murdered in my sleep tonight
the parting glass, it's good in theory but contrasted to the rest of their discography it doesn't have that vibe that we all love boygenius for
It’s a cover and tribute to Sinead O’Connor which is probably why
yeah but usually they're pretty good about making covers sound like their own, cowboy take me away, read my mind etc
Yeah, I get that. I just think since it’s often a funeral song they didn’t take liberties
Revolution 0 is probably the biggest throw away
Never loved Revolution 0 that much
Emily I’m Sorry feels like every other Phoebe Bridgers song, I just find it so boring
WHAT
Yeah I don't really like it as much compared to the other songs on the album. For a song with so many streams it feels a little overrated. Good but not great.
brave of you to say but true nonetheless.
Omg noooooooo
This song automatically popped into my head in response to the question.
Yeaaaa I can’t feel this
This won’t be a popular opinion here but I don’t love Cool About It While I appreciate the sentiment behind the lyrics, I find songs with interpolated melodies annoying. The Simon & Garfunkel plinky-plunkiness of it all really gets in the way of me emotionally connecting to the lyrics in the same way as I do with other boygenius songs.
It’s the only song of theirs i skip
super hot take but it’s a split between cool about it and not strong enough. i hate pop music and only listen to alternative (think phoebe style and shoegaze) and not strong enough is just too poppy mainstream sounding for me, although i understand that when a band is trying to win awards they put a more mainstream song on the album (radio single) and that’s why it sounds different than the rest of the album. the second skip would be satanist, but the slow bit at the end saves it. for cool about it, i absolutely love the lyrics and tempo, but i simply just hate the plucky banjo. still love bg sm and have seen them live, just those specific songs are not my taste. also im appalled by all the revolution 0 haters, and all the hate towards julien-focussed songs (even though i do understand everyone has their opinions)
Split between Revolution 0 and Leonard Cohen.
Love pretty much all of them but never really enjoyed listening to Not Strong Enough.
Actually dislike this song a LOT. Only one of theirs so far I really just straight up don't like.
without you without them is the only song i don’t like in their entire discography
i thought revolution 0 was a fan favourite what are these comments
me and my dog..
Satanist is meh
I didn’t love Satanist until I saw it live and it was just SO fucking good. Now I love it.
I’ve heard this take and it sure confuses me. Just can’t get into it? I vibe with the three verses and how they play off each other. Also I’m a exvangelical and I vibe with satanism, anarchism, and nihilism so i think they wrote it for me.
Yeah for some reason I just get can’t get into it the way I could other tracks! I’m a huge fan so I will definitely give it another go with time lol
Ya, I mean it’s not unique to this song but I love the switch of each of them getting a verse and each of them singing a harmony, their voice combos on each verse are perfect. And you really got to get into the swing of it, the guitar hits are great with the softer parts surrounding it
I actually agree
Ok I somewhat agree w the beginning but then when it gets all quiet and dreamy starting with "you wonder..." omg I looove that part.
I don’t know why but I could never get into “Souvenirs”.
We’re in Love tbh
Super super super SUPER controversial take but cool about it…
I know this is a hot and potentially cancellable take but I think Anti-Curse is boring
Forgive me, but it’s Stay Down
you’re not getting forgiven for that one, sorry bro
That’s fair, I actually like the song, too lol
I agree, it’s a very tough call but this is my least favourite.
This is the right answer
We're in love. Don't care for Lucy's voice at all sadly.
Whaaaaat
This is my skip too. I like Lucy’s voice but it’s so heavy here and the song drones on longer than I’d like 🙁.
Do you mainly dislike it due to Lucy’s voice, or the lyrics and everything else too?
I haven't paid attention to the lyrics. It kind of sounds drone-y and not special to me. But ya I really dislike her voice. I've been downvoted by many.
If the lyrics weren’t so meaningful to me I would probably somewhat agree. I love Lucy’s voice but if you’re not paying much attention to what she’s saying in the song it can seem a bit dreary
I love Lucy but unfortunately I’m going to have to agree with this song being the worst
But… She’s the best member! 🥺🥺
I'm suuuuch a Julien fan! I like a lot of phoebe's solo stuff too. Lucy's voice to me sounds old and old fashioned in a way I don't enjoy.
$20
Satanist or Powers
