Hey lady. Shoot me a dm with a link to what you need and your address. I gotcha.

Let me also help! Send me a DM and I can also help out here!

Your cancer center should have a social worker. Contact them asap. You need that sleeve. Let your entire care team know you are running out of money and need financial assistance immediately.

My PT recommended one on Amazon that's less than $20 and measured me for it so I'd know what size. Not as good as what the doc wants, probably. But better than nothing? MGANG Lymphedema Compression Arm Sleeve for Women Men, Opaque, 15-20 mmHg Compression Full Arm Support with Silicone Band, Relieve Swelling, Edema, Post Surgery Recovery, Single Beige XL https://a.co/d/08pddcXX.

Icy_Grapefruit_7879

Are you sure your insurance won't cover it? Medicare changed their policy on Jan. 1, 2024 to cover compression sleeves. Many other insurance companies followed suit. If you haven't checked lately, it might be worth doing so

meganfey

This is what I was going to ask. It’s newer legislation so maybe whoever you talked about didn’t know about it

StereoPoet

I was offered some assistance, I will looking to double checking though...couldn't hurt.

MightBeANurse

My $20 Amazon compression sleeve and my $90 specialty compression sleeve look, feel and function the same.

StereoPoet

That's interesting, my doctor specifically told me not to get one off of amazon...I was offered some help, though. However, I now also need compression gloves so maybe amazon is an option for those...

Gr8purple1

Unfortunately that's what they all cost. My insurance didn't cover it either. Do you have a supplemental insurance? Because I discovered my SHIP will reimburse me. BTW when you do have the money, Lymphedivas has some awesome patterns.

First-Channel-7247

LympheDIVAs also runs frequent 20-25% off sales. Join their mailing list for more info.

Lost_Guide1001

I scroll through the Lymphedivas Discount Seconds periodically because they are almost half the price of the regular priced sleeves. I have not yet bought one. The size that I think I am doesn't seem to come up often or sell out quickly. I want to verify the size with my professional fitter.

First-Channel-7247

I like the Lymphedivas for a pretty outfit. I have a couple. I like my Juzos better for fit. They have better compression.

Lost_Guide1001

How long does your Juzo last?

First-Channel-7247

I think a single set can last 6 months or more. I rotate mine daily so they’ll last a long while. I also found out flex spending doesn’t cover anything under 30-40 mmHg and compression garments are covered by Medicare now if that helps anyone.

Lost_Guide1001

My insurance pays for two per year. so I was planning to stagger buying them as I am only entitled for one arm, the cancer arm. The sleeve is stretched out at only 6 to 8 weeks. The brand is one of the better ones. I asked my insurance company about increasing the number I could get. Nope. I have to back through the local shop (it took over a month to get the one that I have) and my doctor has to write another order. Since active treatment it's been one thing after another. I am disillusioned with the name brand.

First-Channel-7247

I’m so sorry! That stinks. I lost a few gauntlets and bought replacements off Amazon out of pocket. These things are expensive.

Lost_Guide1001

I know! That's why I am advocating for replacement. That is part of the reason I am considering the Lymphediva Discount Seconds. I would have some reasonable compression, a fun sleeve or two, and something to wear when the good ones wear out.

tzippora

Look, there's got to be a compression sleeve around where you live that no one is using. Check with the local Cancer charities and ask. May you find one!

StereoPoet

Unfortunately, Compression sleeves are not an item you can wear second-hand. They have to fit your measurements, be the right amount of Compression, and be changed out every 3-6 months because they lose their shape.

tzippora

Oh no. Wow. Yeah, got it. Sorry. This really sucks.

SS-123

Can you call your insurance and ask them if they cover "durable medical equipment"? If they do, get your Primary Care doc to write the script.

SC-Coqui

I was going to say the same thing. My insurance would cover it under DME. Wigs fall under the same category.

StereoPoet

Hhhmmm, I can see how that might be an option. I was offered some help with the sleeve, however they told me today they want me in compression gloves, as well...I am going to ask about this and see if we can make it work...

SS-123

I forgot to mention that I also have a glove. It's like I glove that doesn't cover the fingers, called a gauntlet.

StereoPoet

Thank toy for telling me this! I spoke with my doctor and we spoke to the company that provides the compression garments, they think it's worth trying and I am feeling really positive about it! Redditors for the win!?

SS-123

Great news! I hope it works out! Keep us posted!

KLETCO

Mine didn't cover mine either, but then they did cover the cost of a pump, which is weird. Lymphedivas has a sale on seconds - you can see if one of these will work - [https://www.lymphedivas.com/discount-seconds-1/](https://www.lymphedivas.com/discount-seconds-1/)

Lost_Guide1001

In the US, the Lymphedema Treatment Act when into effect in January of 2024. Federal insurance have to supply a certain number. The hope is that private insurers will follow suit soon. First Channel 7247 brought up Lymphedivas. I have searched their website before. They have Discount Seconds. They also have an Affordability section. Here is the link: [https://www.lymphedivas.com/affordability](https://www.lymphedivas.com/affordability) My insurance will cover two sleeves a year. My problem is that my first sleeve has lasted only about two months. I am in the process of learning the process to see if the fitter will be able to go back through the manufacturer and/or my insurance to get a replacement. I see my fitter next week.

otterlyconfounded

Gross. Remember you don't have to pay doctor and facilities right away. They do pay plans without interest.
