Can you tell me how much better this build is compared to my last computer? OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit RAM: 8 GB Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad core processor 3.80 GHz Video Card: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series Also, what are the reasons for spending so much on a monitor?

just so you've got a comparison between /u/arihan77's build and mine: his CPU is *slightly* better. I doubt it would have a noticeable impact on games motherboards are pretty equal mine has double the memory, useful for doing several big tasks at once his SSD is slightly faster mine has double the hard drive space mine has a better graphics card by a fair amount, but not huge. (this is where gaming improvements are most noticeable) cases are pretty even, mostly just preference power supplies are mostly even. his is modular, meaning the cables are detatchable, but it makes it pricier. we used the same monitor. his does not include a mouse or keyboard where mine does. his came out slightly more expensive but doesn't include rebates. personally, I'd go with mine (obviously because I planned it) just because the performance improvements are in the most noticeable areas. both will be multiple times better than your current rig.

I was JUST sitting here trying to figure out how I was going to do that lol

acondie13

lol no worries. I know the feeling of looking at a bunch of numbers and not knowing which parts are better. I'd recommend looking up linustechtips and his other channel techquickie on youtube. My computer knowledge has increased by several times since I subbed there.

Straitface

Thanks, I will!

god damn that's close something to note, the video card has a manual price because for some reason pcpartpicker hasn't updated to the current amazon price of that card. That's all so intimidating lol I'm going to this from my last computer, would you be able to tell me how much better this one is in terms of handling games? Also, are all these stores reputable? I haven't heard of some of them. OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit RAM: 8 GB Processor: AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad core processor 3.80 GHz Video Card: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series Also, what are the reasons for spending so much on a monitor?

acondie13

Oh yeah, big upgrade. like several times better. Should run Witcher 3, GTA v, mgs5 max settings (or almost max) at 1080p 60 fps. Aside from those, it should run every game on the market very well. Edit: also yeah the stores are reputable. Pcpartpicker doesn't list anything sketchy. Sometimes I'll try to buy as much stuff as possible from one vendor even if the base price is slightly higher, just to save on shipping.

Straitface

Wow that's great! Should I be concerned with the decrease in GHz for the processor? What does that regulate?

acondie13

No not at all. GHz is supposed to be the speed of the processor but it's a really deceptive number for reasons that are hard to explain. Just know this i5 is massively better than your processor at oretry much everything. Also for your monitor question, that's a pretty standard price for a 1080p 24" monitor.

ergodragon

Hi, im planing similar build like this, so obviously quite like it, but isnt that PSU overkill? 500-550W should be enough esp for 1060 (even for RX 480 it will be ok). Just bit curious.

acondie13

yeah the wattage is way overkill, but honestly I just got what I believed to be the best quality one in that price range. a lot of lower wattage PSU's were even more expensive so not much of a reason not to go with this one.
