I didn't like the Chu 2 in comparison to my Chu 1, BL03, and Aria 1s which I also own. I think my main problem is the included eartips were a poor fit for my ears, maybe foamies or springtips would have been better.
I went ahead and ordered the Zero:2 and along with a multipack of the same foamies I use with my BL03s. I will report back how they sound stock, and compare both with better fitting ear tips (if the Zero:2s need em).

I had no idea they were a thing. If they let some external noise pass through, it would let me try in-ear earphones as sticking only to earbuds limits choice quite a bit.
I would argue foam tips are even more so. You compress them, stick them in your ear, and then the foam expands and forms an even stronger seal than most silicone tips. It actually changes the sound signature which is why I prefer them on my BL03s. It turns already infamously bassy IEMs into true bass cannons, I love the effect.
Some forming a proper seal is so critical to IEMs, and thats what causes the underwater feeling, then maybe open-back solutions might be more your thing?
Open back headphones like Koss PortaPros, ear clip style like Koss KSC75, or if you want something bluetooth the Galaxy Buds Live are unique in that they don't sit directly in your ear canal and are as open-back like an TWS IEM can get.

Yea I can see why you would still want to be aware of your surroundings if you are doing roadwork. How are you with "transparency" style IEMs? The ones that use their microphones to pass through outside noises to you?
If you want to pair "wirelessly" (there is still a wire between the two ear pieces) also consider the Koss KSC35 Wireless. They are similar to the KSC75s but pair via bluetooth. The only cable goes between each ear so its not "true" wireless. I have yet to see a true wireless earclip style headphones.
Also another option for cycling is bone conductive headphones. They don't sound that great but for maximum awareness to the world around you, they don't even go on your ear, they vibrate a pad just below your ear that that passes vibrations directly to your inner ear bone.
Better imo, while Chu 2 has a better cable and more premium metal design, the Zero 2 has a better shape for the ear and the lighter plastic is more comfy over time.
As for sound signature, they are extremely similar but the Zero 2 reduces the harsh (to some) treble of the Chu 2
I tried the Chu IIs, sounded fine, very good for the price, with good subbass extension, maybe a bit muddy bass, lacking clarity in comparison to my more expensive over ears (obviously, I didn't expect them to compete with $200 cans but they did a surprisingly good job anyway). The right ear failed completely after a couple of months. Picked up these to try because I wasn't perfectly happy with the Chus; they aren't quite as good in the subbass region, bass overall is less muddy (but slightly less impact as well), clarity in the mids and highs is a *little* better. Again, impressive for the price but I'm itching to upgrade if I'm going to keep using in-ears. I'd say the Chus were a slightly better fit for my ears, more comfortable and smaller, and I liked the stock cable on the Chus a bit more. Overall minute differences, as you'd expect for products competing in the same ultra-budget audiophile space. Haven't owned them Zero:2s long enough to say whether they are more durable or not.
IMO the Chu 2 is better in every way, including the included eartips.
Also, if you need earbuds to sleep in - the Chu 2 are amazing for that. They're so small.

Yeah, I wasn't involved in the purchasing of those Beats and I would have asked our mother to look into something else if I was. I already sent the Moondrop Space Ages to my mother and was told my sister doesn't like their shape, and with her being autistic it isn't something she can get over or get used to. Apparently the main reason they bought the Beats was because they were the only ones they found my sister found comfortable to wear.
One thing about the Moondrop Space Travel is that the case kind of sucks and I found the touch controls to be a bit sensitive. I otherwise love the sounds quality. The active noise canceling (ANC) is shockingly good for the price. Get better eartips for them if you find the earbuds to fall out too often.

I’ve had the regular 7Hz Zero (although it’s likely Crinacle also tuned that too considering he’s everywhere in the audiophile industry) for about a year or two now and they’ve held up great. For casual music listening and tactical shooters I’ve never had an issue and they blow most “gaming headsets” under $100 out of the water. Great pickup if you’re someone who uses an external mic or just wants some inexpensive, good-sounding IEMs around.
Absolutely love these - seriously great value. I typically replace the ear tips with memory foam ones since I think it makes them sound more clear and is more sound isolating.
I've got multiple IEMs that have SF1 eartips, so the 15$ was worth it for me lol

In my experience iems are too sensitive so they pick up on a bunch of noise. I use the apple dac on my phone and it'll do much better. Unfortunately, the apple dac dongle doesn't work with the switch.

Purchased this (and the Apple USB-C dongle) a few weeks ago as my decades old budget wired IEMs had busted. I primarily considered this and the Moondrop Chu II from other reddit recommendations. I rarely use IEMs, but these were my thoughts:
* Sound is good for the price. Would improve with better isolation, but that's an extra purchase. Worth experimenting if you have some tips.
* Shape is a bit strange - fairly bulky triangles. May not work for some ear shapes or smaller ears.
* Comes with a bag of different colored tips (5 pair) that all seem roughly the same medium size.
* Packaged well. No carrying case.
For only $20 im intrigued by these, but im curious about my use case. Im a mechanic and I currently use a set of ~$45 Dewalt earbuds that hang around my neck all day at work. My hearing is pretty seriously damaged so im no musician, audiophile, etc. But have never used a monitor vs cheap earbuds and I feel like the sound quality difference is something I mostly wouldn't notice.
My questions are would the better quality output make it easier to hear what im listening to at low volume as its cleaner and the fact that these would fit further in the ear? Would these be decent at holding up against a dirty environment or are they more fragile? Its really mostly sweat and sometimes interacting with dirty hands.
The Dewalt ones have a truly ridiculously good battery life which is great, but im considering other options to get the band off of my neck, tons of sweat and stuffing my body into weird crevasses and angles sometimes causes issues. Never knew about monitors so im curious if it would be a waste in my situation and I'd just ruin them.
I would probably get a pair of true wireless ear buds. The cable will probably be annoying for you (these are wired IEMs, not wireless). Wireless earbuds with noise cancelation might help block more outside sound as well.
As for listening at low volume, the seal the iems make with your ear has a huge effect on how much outside sound is blocked. You should try different size ear tips to find which size gives you the best fit and is comfortable. A lot of people also recommend foam tips which work like foam ear plugs and expand to fill your ear canal.
There are some moondrop true wireless iems for around $25 that I have heard good things about but have not tried myself. I personally use galaxy buds pro as they came with my samsung phone and work well enough when I need wireless ear buds.

I switched to IEMs and a dedicated usb mic on an arm, both of them sound way better than a single gaming headset. If one breaks, I only need to replace the one item, rather than having the all-in-one break.
They can be. IEMs are naturally noise isolating because they go deeper in your ears and make a decent seal. So you will probably listen at a lower volume, potentially being easier on your ears.
560s are likely better. IEMs shine in the under $80 range where no headphones can touch them in price to perf. Above that and a good pair of over ears start becoming worth it.
Open backs in particular have good direction to the sound which can help with fps games.
There's extremely diminishing returns if all you care about is game. You only pay more if you want to use it for other things. At that point, just focus on the other use case because it really won't make you a better player.
Imaging is particularly impressive on these to me. I have a bit harder time discerning distance, but was very confident in the direction of what I'm hearing. This is in direct comparison to Sennheiser 58Xs, Beyerdynamic DT770s, and Hifiman Sundara Closed backs, so not price equivalent cans at all. They fall apart a bit in louder scenes, lacking clarity and separation, but are fantastic for picking up footsteps in something like Tarkov where the footsteps only compete with some light ambient noise and distant shots.

Any requirement/benefit from AMP and/or DAC on these, or should these be fine without in most cases?
I run on a decent dedicated dac and separate amp (Volt 1 audio interface into Schiit Magni Heresy amp), so I tried a few random devices for a few minutes to answer you appropriately. Out of the back of my side "monitor" (42 inch LG C2 TV), perfectly useable once I realized that the volume of the TV itself controlled wired headphone output volume as well. Out of the bottom of my DS5 Controller, plenty of volume, equivalent to setting my amp to about 75% and plenty to cause pain at that point. Same story for a Fiio BTR3K bluetooth dac/amp that I used with my phone when I want to use wired buds, plenty of volume. Tried the front of my PC case, found out I didn't bother to hook it up.
Probably no real reason to pick up an amp of any variety if my controller can manage enough output volume, and they really don't have the overall clarity to benefit from a DAC unless you have some low level noise that needs to be filtered from your normal output. They are definitely designed for low power output applications, phones and laptops and such.

Specs are: Impedance: 32 ohms. Sensitivity: 108dB/V@1KHz (those should be the correct specs, most IEM's are very easy to drive).

Soundstage being important in gaming is such a meme when every pro uses iems at LAN. This isn't to mention EQing above 10k can get you close to the soundstage you want (at the expense of ideal FR which shouldn't matter in gaming).
Who would have known headphones with cushion are much more comfortable than sticking something in your ear. The point wasn't that pros wearing iems at LAN prove they like iems, but that soundstage literally does not matter as much as random gamers want to pretend it is. Pros will and do perform well with iems in their LAN setting where in-game sound is never an issue and it's not uncommon to see some of them wear it as main audio even while they stream from home because it's their preference (tenz, aceu, marved).
There are pros who can play with apple earpods. Sound stage does not matter at all. It's just people who hear the myth and want to upgrade their equipment
I have dt 990 pros 250 ohms and I bought a cheap $20 pair of iems similar to these and I can hear footsteps significantly better and tell where the enemy is way easier.
Same setup for me. I have tried more expensive IEMs as well. Felt the spatialization to be terrible. You also might need a high quality DAC, as IEMs can pick up interference
If you just want to test then you can get the OG model for $7 less on AliEx.
Makes it easier to stomach if you're like me who tries stuff out just to shelve them a couple weeks later.

I used to buy various of these cheap and highly acclaimed earbuds but stopped wasting my money on them. Crinacle can go on and on about how good they sound and what not, but my DT770s and my Air Pod Pros sound better to my ears than any of the dozens of chinese earbuds that are supposedly the "best" and punch way about their weight class.

Yes, they require almost no power to run so it should work fine with your Switch.
In my experience iems are too sensitive so they pick up on a bunch of noise. I use the apple dac on my phone and it'll do much better. Unfortunately, the apple dac dongle doesn't work with the switch. It will work, but you'll hear a bunch of noise.
what do you use for switch audio instead then?
I don't. I haven't tried anything in a year or two.

My linsoul kz zs10 pro iems do. They just have a bunch of background white noise from the switch and straight put of my phone TRRS out. The apple dac dongle helps a lot to remove it.
Same with my Steam Deck.
Disregard what the other person said. These are slightly less sensitive than most other IEMs so the hiss from the Switch shouldn't be that bad.

Purchased this (and the Apple USB-C dongle) a few weeks ago as my decades old budget wired IEMs had busted. I primarily considered this and the Moondrop Chu II from other reddit recommendations. I rarely use IEMs, but these were my thoughts: * Sound is good for the price. Would improve with better isolation, but that's an extra purchase. Worth experimenting if you have some tips. * Shape is a bit strange - fairly bulky triangles. May not work for some ear shapes or smaller ears. * Comes with a bag of different colored tips (5 pair) that all seem roughly the same medium size. * Packaged well. No carrying case.
For only $20 im intrigued by these, but im curious about my use case. Im a mechanic and I currently use a set of ~$45 Dewalt earbuds that hang around my neck all day at work. My hearing is pretty seriously damaged so im no musician, audiophile, etc. But have never used a monitor vs cheap earbuds and I feel like the sound quality difference is something I mostly wouldn't notice. My questions are would the better quality output make it easier to hear what im listening to at low volume as its cleaner and the fact that these would fit further in the ear? Would these be decent at holding up against a dirty environment or are they more fragile? Its really mostly sweat and sometimes interacting with dirty hands. The Dewalt ones have a truly ridiculously good battery life which is great, but im considering other options to get the band off of my neck, tons of sweat and stuffing my body into weird crevasses and angles sometimes causes issues. Never knew about monitors so im curious if it would be a waste in my situation and I'd just ruin them.
I would probably get a pair of true wireless ear buds. The cable will probably be annoying for you (these are wired IEMs, not wireless). Wireless earbuds with noise cancelation might help block more outside sound as well. As for listening at low volume, the seal the iems make with your ear has a huge effect on how much outside sound is blocked. You should try different size ear tips to find which size gives you the best fit and is comfortable. A lot of people also recommend foam tips which work like foam ear plugs and expand to fill your ear canal. There are some moondrop true wireless iems for around $25 that I have heard good things about but have not tried myself. I personally use galaxy buds pro as they came with my samsung phone and work well enough when I need wireless ear buds.

Nice to see IEMs on here. I switched to IEMs and a dedicated usb mic on an arm, both of them sound way better than a single gaming headset. If one breaks, I only need to replace the one item, rather than having the all-in-one break.

They can be. IEMs are naturally noise isolating because they go deeper in your ears and make a decent seal. So you will probably listen at a lower volume, potentially being easier on your ears.

Might be referring to imaging. Which isn’t entirely true, often times iems have better imaging than their equal price headphone counterparts.
So the imaging of these should be on par with a $25 set of cans?
Or better, IEMs in this price range have usually been pretty exceptional value-wise when headphones really don’t shine here.
So how do they compare to something like sennheiser 560s for games like valorant and cs2
560s are likely better. IEMs shine in the under $80 range where no headphones can touch them in price to perf. Above that and a good pair of over ears start becoming worth it. Open backs in particular have good direction to the sound which can help with fps games.

There's extremely diminishing returns if all you care about is game. You only pay more if you want to use it for other things. At that point, just focus on the other use case because it really won't make you a better player.
Imaging is particularly impressive on these to me. I have a bit harder time discerning distance, but was very confident in the direction of what I'm hearing. This is in direct comparison to Sennheiser 58Xs, Beyerdynamic DT770s, and Hifiman Sundara Closed backs, so not price equivalent cans at all. They fall apart a bit in louder scenes, lacking clarity and separation, but are fantastic for picking up footsteps in something like Tarkov where the footsteps only compete with some light ambient noise and distant shots.
Thank you so much or your comment, that's actually really encouraging as I'd be using these for Hunt Showdown, so some similarities there and sound is just generally vitally important in both games. Any requirement/benefit from AMP and/or DAC on these, or should these be fine without in most cases?
I run on a decent dedicated dac and separate amp (Volt 1 audio interface into Schiit Magni Heresy amp), so I tried a few random devices for a few minutes to answer you appropriately. Out of the back of my side "monitor" (42 inch LG C2 TV), perfectly useable once I realized that the volume of the TV itself controlled wired headphone output volume as well. Out of the bottom of my DS5 Controller, plenty of volume, equivalent to setting my amp to about 75% and plenty to cause pain at that point. Same story for a Fiio BTR3K bluetooth dac/amp that I used with my phone when I want to use wired buds, plenty of volume. Tried the front of my PC case, found out I didn't bother to hook it up. Probably no real reason to pick up an amp of any variety if my controller can manage enough output volume, and they really don't have the overall clarity to benefit from a DAC unless you have some low level noise that needs to be filtered from your normal output. They are definitely designed for low power output applications, phones and laptops and such.

Should be fine out of your mobo otherwise get a $9 Apple dongle. These are a killer value just beware you might get sucked down the rabbit hole. Specs are: Impedance: 32 ohms. Sensitivity: 108dB/V@1KHz (those should be the correct specs, most IEM's are very easy to drive).
I'm concerned about this haha. I luckily capped my headphones spending in the low hundreds, but managed to get solid performance, so hopefully I don't dig too deep here haha. Thanks for the info!
Soundstage being important in gaming is such a meme when every pro uses iems at LAN. This isn't to mention EQing above 10k can get you close to the soundstage you want (at the expense of ideal FR which shouldn't matter in gaming).

Who would have known headphones with cushion are much more comfortable than sticking something in your ear. The point wasn't that pros wearing iems at LAN prove they like iems, but that soundstage literally does not matter as much as random gamers want to pretend it is. Pros will and do perform well with iems in their LAN setting where in-game sound is never an issue and it's not uncommon to see some of them wear it as main audio even while they stream from home because it's their preference (tenz, aceu, marved).
There are pros who can play with apple earpods. Sound stage does not matter at all. It's just people who hear the myth and want to upgrade their equipment
I have dt 990 pros 250 ohms and I bought a cheap $20 pair of iems similar to these and I can hear footsteps significantly better and tell where the enemy is way easier.
Same setup for me. I have tried more expensive IEMs as well. Felt the spatialization to be terrible. You also might need a high quality DAC, as IEMs can pick up interference
Anyone know how this compares to the Truthear Zero? I had that in my watchlist for my first budget IEMs and this is more than half that price.
Truthear Zero is generally regarded as somewhat better. They are 2x the price after all, but if you're not too discerning these will do just fine.

If you just want to test then you can get the OG model for $7 less on AliEx. Makes it easier to stomach if you're like me who tries stuff out just to shelve them a couple weeks later.

Fwiw my experience with their customer service was also great. I had some issues with cables and also some issues with a unit defect in one of the ears. They offered a replacement if I wanted to do a return OR an 80% refund (since I owned it for like almost a year at the time) so I could buy my own replacement or get it fixed on my own terms. I asked for the 80% refund. I would definitely suggest them :) the product was great when it worked and the support was very helpful.
I have the first version of these and bought them around 2 months ago. I'd 100% recommend these and would recommend them even when they're off sale. Great quality for the price.

Replace them with something else like foam. All my buds have memory foam tips as they tend to seal better and are more comfortable

I used to buy various of these cheap and highly acclaimed earbuds but stopped wasting my money on them. Crinacle can go on and on about how good they sound and what not, but my DT770s and my Air Pod Pros sound better to my ears than any of the dozens of chinese earbuds that are supposedly the "best" and punch way about their weight class. Sound and eq is subjective and saying something is the "best" makes no sense.

I wouldn't say all his good stuff is there. His lineup is actually pretty spread out. Zero: 2 = $20 Zero Red = $50 Dioko = $100 Blessing dusk = $300
My only experience with IEMs was a pair of KZ ZSN Pros I bought that immediately broke after a single use and I couldn't return them because I waited too long outside the return window. This has absolutely no basis on this product.
