Halfway through the interview at the moment and am very pleased with how he speaks. Rooting for him to have a JT Miller-like growth and become a huge player for us over the next 7 years.
There's so many positives for him here. The stability of a long-term contract, plus living near family. He'll be able to settle down with his wife and start a family. He won't have to worry about being traded he can focus on his game. He has all the tools, so hopefully as he gets older he starts finishing all those great plays he starts. I have a good feeling about this pick up Canucks needed some Canadians on the roster for the playoffs.
As a Bruins fan, I will say he was a likable guy. Earlier in his career there were rumors he was out partying a lot (but can’t say I blame a young kid for that) and there were rumors that he didn’t take very well to Cassidy’s hard coaching. Will be something to keep an eye on how he takes to Tocchet’s coaching.
I’d love to see him succeed. It always felt like he was destined to move back closer to home so I’m happy for the guy and hope that brings out the best in him.
I don't imagine he comes to Vancouver if he wasn't ready for Tocchet's style of coaching. Everyone knows about it at this point and it of course came up during his interviews before signing here.
I’d hope so. That last year under Cassidy you could tell he was struggling personally in a way. That’s when he requested a trade. The trade never went through and the Bruins brought in Montgomery and Jake seemed like he had a new lease on his hockey life. In his defense, it sounded like he wasn’t alone in being happy to see Cassidy out as it sounds like he wore on some of the players after all the years.

Peter has played his best when he’s been on a line with Miller. Debrusk isn’t at the same level as Miller obviously but there are similarities in their game. I’m hopeful.
I gotta say. This man is an excellent interview.
Well spoken. Always refreshing in a hockey player.
Ian Cole like interviewee.
Louie’s son and it shows
So he's fat is what you're saying?

his dad and Tocch are good friends so I’m hoping they can build on that

I could be wrong but that sounds very reminiscent of a younger JT Miller

I wanted him in Edmonton so badly, he's poised to break out imo
At least his dad will 180 from being the most insufferable, miserable hater cunt of this franchise to being an absolute bootlicker for us
If this means they assign more Singh/Debrusk to our HNIC games, I'll have to consider it a loss lol
No thanks lol, I’ll take John and Ray.
Hopefully they try and limit the DeBrusk games to avoid the perception of bias, that's the dream
That was my first reaction too. Loui must hate this
Yup! Louie will be going from my least favourite sportsnet personality to one of the best.
LOL he said he totally understands the way people reacted to Marchand when they had games in Vancouver. Welcome, Jake!
Rumors had it that he was going to Calgary... thank goodness he chose to come here
Seems like a likeable guy
Come to redeem the Jake name
I think this guy starts hitting the 30 goal mark in Vancouver.
Definitely. Playing with Petey and PP1 I could see 30-35.
This was a great interview; he seems like a super likeable guy! I’m excited to see how he does under Tocchet and with more top line time.
Jt miller 2.0
Hope so
Jt Miller turned into a 100 point player, you can't be serious lol
And no one thought JT would... Ya never know
You’re thinking 200?
Maybe 300, we have the new Gretzky

Your lack of faith is disturbing 🤔
Love that he’s from Edmonton and as such understands and probably embraces the hockey mad market
I think this contract is a steal. I would've liked Guntzel or Laine but DeBrusk is also good.
Got 3 players for the cost of 1 Guentzel
All day! We got gritty instead of guentzel.
I think we’re gonna be laughing when Guentz underperforms to his huge contract
I also feel this. He is also older
I'm glad we at least got an impact player. Not the one I was hoping for, but he should be good for years.
Isn’t he a little scrappy as well as can score? Scrappy meaning not afraid to go into the tough areas and mix it up
He is a tough Tocc style forward

Oh, he’s going to fit in so nicely with our boys.
He seems genuinely pumped in this, I really like this signing!
He’s going to give Marchand a nice, clean check in their first game
This jake is better than that other jake
I'm stoked to have DeBrusk on the team. His signing is jersey worthy, among other things that he brings to the team
