Look at the ingredients. All kind of stuff between decent and terrible go under the term "deli meats".

deef1ve

As soon as meat is heated up, it’s processed. Don’t worry about processing but about the ingredients used to do the processing.

EthosMaster

FN!!!

Robdataff

They're usually OK in a pinch. I picked up a packet of ham today, and it had about 11 ingredients after pork. Try to avoid if you can.

italianblend

Some prosciutto is just pork and salt.

JadedAndWidowed

Prosciutto is my go to because 99.999999% of the time it's just pork and salt. Very salty

BartFart1235

I really want this to be true about capicola 🙏 also

Extreme-Nerve3029

Limit them if you can

>maltodextrin "If we can get away with it we'll lump it under sugar even though it spikes the blood sugar much more" Or "If we can't get away with it we'll just flat out label it as maltodextrin as regular folks don't know that it spikes the blood sugar much more" Pure fucking poison.

hellosushiii

No sir, All them nitrates and processing do more harm than good

wuxxler

My go to when I'm on the road and need to eat something is uncured salami. No nitrates or nitrites, no sugar, no chemicals. Trace amounts of seasoning. I could eat it all day, but it's only a 1 or 2 times a week snack to hold me over when nothing else is handy.

Hoppy_Hessian

It's better than cookies.

PinRecent8598

Fair enough 😂

CaptainYogurtt

If it's the kind of deli meat where you watch them shave it for you behind the counter, then absolutely that stuff is awesome. But the prepackaged stuff? Make sure to read the ingredients first, they sometimes include other things.

Britton120

great for a snack, usually they're pretty lean. I'd avoid things like salami and pepperoni, as they're the more processed stuff. But things like ham, turkey, roast beef? I have some from time to time.

Modavated

They're usually packed with sugars. Just read the ingredients.

OldskoolRx7

No. Fine for a treat occasionally, if you feel the need. Processed meats are some of the worst foods for you. There are some that are reasonable in a pinch, and some that are terrifying.

Shurtugal9

Certain deli meats made me break out really badly so I started cutting them mostly salami and pepperoni. That being said some of the ingredients were not great this was during my transition from SAD so it was more to get me closer to lion. If you can handle it do it of it causes symptoms then don't, I wouldn't recommend it long term though.

Deathworm

Make your own chicken , pork or beef lunch meat. plenty of recipes out there using this: [https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Sandwich-Making-Healthy-Homemade/dp/B0BFHZ959M](https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Sandwich-Making-Healthy-Homemade/dp/B0BFHZ959M)

Psychological_Egg965

If it doesn’t say sugar or honey… go to town

hufflepuffonthis

Nah. The ingredients don't work. It's next to impossible to find a deli meat that doesn't have sugar or oil or something fuckled. You'll have better luck finding a sugar free jerky, if you like meat snacks.

Replica72

In an emergency ok but this is the kind of meats that can actually contribute to cancer

Absolutely not. Look at the ingredient If there's anything that isn't MEAT or Sodium Chloride. It's over. And if you happen to find some meat+salt it's been ground and the nutrient have be denatured from the mechanical processing. And it's been cured and sged, so high in histamine, your body will produce diamine oxydase to compensate and that will tank your magnesium level. In a pinch, fine, otherwise it's bad news...
