Oxalate dumping perhaps.

carnivorecatlady

Hmm.. can oxalate dumping happen at any point? I’m definitely off sugars and carbs (but maybe the naked wings I had from Wingstop is the culprit)… I read nutritional facts for the wings I ordered and they were at 0 carbs and 0 sugar but perhaps they don’t actually use tallow for frying? I was getting conflicting information online but found a few posts saying they used tallow but now I feel like that might not be the case.

Oxalate dumping is when you stop eating oxalate rich food, and your cells start dumping it out into your bloodstream. If this is what it is, it's temporary. And a good thing, because your body is getting rid of a lot of crap. Drink lots of water to help flush it out.

I’ve read some articles saying oxalate dumping can lead to kidney stones and other painful symptoms. Wondering if there’s any truth to that as I’ve been feeling really mild pain on the right side of my lower back. I don’t know if I’m just overthinking but what was your experience like?

OneHumanBill

I haven't had this, but other people have. I really can't speak to kidney stones.

Oh you’ll know if it’s kidney stones lol. 30 minutes from initial twinges to full sob-inducing pain. It’s a sudden onset, not gradual twinges over days or weeks.

Okay this makes me feel a lot better!

Try removing dairy.

carnivorecatlady

Dang, and I was just about to make carnivore ice cream 😅

This helped me I was about 4 months in and broke out badly so I cut most dairy, left in butter, and it went away. I still get the occasional whitehead but it's much better for me now than when I was using heavy cream and cheeses

Squeezard

Yes its normal

That sounds a lot like you are dumping oxalates. If it gets worse, eat a small amount of food with oxalate in it to slow down the rate you are dumping. Like dark chocolate. Just a few pieces, not the whole bar.

I did at first, then I switched to lactose free dairy products with bacterial culture and it helped!
