Niche humor with little substance. I compare it to Adventure time season 1- it's largely "random" humor where nonsense things just happen and are funny because of how out of nowhere they are. For example, I loved seeing the RV subtly be crashed into a flag pole in one episode while no one addresses it. I watched Adventure Time at the same time and was bored by their random humor, like sending them on a mission to "eat brooms". It's like a child came up with it. But with Adventure Time, they eventually built up on it with character relationships, plotlines, drama, relatability, and so much more, while, to my knowledge, Uncle Grandpa remained just a silly romp of random humor with none of those things. Which means that if you're not into random humor, which was already niche to begin with, you will find nothing to like about Uncle Grandpa, and it'll come off as outright irritating.

Finn__the_human_

I love absurt comedy when it used in right time, so I liked it when I was a kid. Adventure time season 1 is also hated because of funny faces and comedy style, to me it was one of the best season, as people age they becomes more grumpy, hate everything for no reason at all. They just want to trash something because their life is trash and negative

itsstillyas04

So right (im one of them)

Lambsauc

YouTubers

verciusss

What a complete and absolutly understandable answer Seriously, what do you mean?

UnrevealedAntagonist

Youtube critics hate it, typically for it's immature humor, and people harp on to their opinions

Qweeq13

Youtube ruins anything it touches, that is why I only follow politics channels, politics sucks anyways. No one should follow -with exception- gaming or anime or cartoon channels 99% of them either want controversy to get interaction into their channel or they bash on progressive elements in cartoons hoping to attract the worse kind of people.

StrikingMoth

solution: just don't get into youtube

Fuzzy_Welcome8348

Cause it’s weird asf

CrazyaboutSpongebob

Its not all that funny its just really random. Most of the time it's aggressively mediocre with Pizza Steve and Mr. Gus carrying the show. When it is funny it's super funny. The episode where UG and Pizza Steve were stuck on the escalator had me dying. I also love Pizza Steve's diary.

verciusss

Waitwaitwaitwait. I know you. You are the one that hate craig of the creek. And like apple and onion. Anyway, the episode when UG became gigant...

CrazyaboutSpongebob

Yep that's me. Apple and Onion has fantastic humor though. The situations are simple yet they always manage to be inventive with the gags.

AverageRicoMain00

Because it's considered dumb, and also probably because of the decline it got in the last seasons

RandManYT

It's very much geared towards kids and adults who never grew up. If you advance past 8 years old mentally, you're more than likely going to find this incredibly annoying. I say it's aight overall. I definitely had a blast watching it when I was the target audience, but I haven't watched it in years, and I don't plan to watch it. My mother also despised the show.

verciusss

1: why, how old are you? 2: I've never said that it is funny even when you are 25, but also peppa pig is not interesting anymore after you passed the target audience, so what's the point? 3: one of my favorite bands is poor man's poison. It has nothing to do with the comment, it was just said randomly

RandManYT

You asked why it was hated, I gave my opinion.

verciusss

Fair enough

thatguyat69

Most people have not really seen the show but see big names talking about their distaste and so in typical fashion, they latch onto those opinions forming a majority that people wouldn't want to oppose. This happens a lot.

Pm_wholesome_nude

its pretty ugly with a poor mix of different animation styles. also as someone who was an adult when this show came out, to me this show is everything teen titan go haters complain about.

Atlast_2091

For CN standard, it is also non-sensical that the ugliness is appealing.

Somerandomdeude1886

I guess people just thought that it was just some "stupid show that was too nonsensical", and while it still has its detractors, it doesn't seem to be as hated as it was when it came out. The show has a much better reputation nowadays than when it was new, with many saying that the show's humor isn't bad but unique, and some even positively compare it to the golden age of theatrical animation, (One thing that might have helped was the creator being HEAVILY involved with Looney Tunes Cartoons, which revisited the roots of the classic shorts.) I didn't hate that show at all when I was a kid, and I certainly thought it was much better than most of the stuff Nickelodeon was airing at the time.

Worried-Thing-9552

Because its not the cartoon network fans perfect little Steven Universe Honestly I think uncle grandpa is Underrated

verciusss

???? I just watched an episode of uncle grandpa an i understood it better than this comment

Worried-Thing-9552

i really dont care I'm like a kid ok Disliked my own comment I know it sucks

Worried-Thing-9552

I realy don't care i even disliked my comment I know it sucks

verciusss

Ok, ok, but... wdym with the comment?

BodaciousFunkyKong

Yeah, I grew up with this show and I don’t understand why its very hated too. Uncle Grandpa be having some weird and funny shit in the show just like the funny floating head guy with the mustache but tbh, I like Uncle Grandpa, It makes me laugh a lot and Mr Gus is the goat of the show imo

AdCompetitive5427

I love this show with all of me so I think nostalgia wins. Adults who had seen the show hate it cause it silly and not what they grew up with. It's also not targeted for them and yet they watch it. Kinda like how I started to feel about TTG. It was my favorite show as a kid but now its just not as funny and Cartoon Network isn't good cause I'm older.

Qweeq13

I personally was a bit too old for Uncle Grandpa. It is from the era of "lol random" humor that really MTV era Spongebob really executed incredibly well back in 2000s. The series was just anachronistic, but it really had a great center if only they focused more on the surrealism. It was a great show (Especially its surreal elements) but at the era of Steven Universe when cartoons were aiming to include LGBT themes in them Uncle Grandpa looked a bit out of place with its "lol random" humor that was a decade old in 2013. This might be controversial but it is irrefutable that Anime has changed cartoons fundamentally when the medium crawled out of Internet Torrent sites into first mainstream cinema and then the streaming platforms. I believe it is "Anime effect" on western animation where just like in Japanese Anime shows even shows targeted at young kids were expected to have darker themes to enrich the emotional development of children. Uncle Grandpa was just fun and games it wasn't any different than your average Saturday morning cartoon. Its just all my opinion I could -of course- be wrong in parts or whole sorry about that if I am.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

That's not even true about anime. There are a ton of more light hearted shows like Doraemon, Sgt. Frog, etc.

Qweeq13

Of course, there are children shows that target very young audiences too, but doraemon is not all sun shine and rainbows. The show has its moments, actually, like in the very opening of the show, rats eat doraemons ears. There is quite a lot of fatshaming, and the series's biggest concern is the marriage of Nobita. I don't know Stg. Frog though.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

I am aware that Doraemon has darker moments and heartwarming moments from time to time but overall it's light hearted.
