As long as theyāre loved and cared for who really cares? People always look at me like I have two heads when my cats come up in conversation but when they come over theyāre lucky if they meet half of our cats and most visitors wouldnāt know we have more than whoever they see since I spend a lot of time ensuring the house isnāt cat smelly/messy lol

With a bun in the oven, do you have time to deal with any settling in niggles or kitten destruction before they arrive and shake up the household?
The number isn't the problem. I know a family with 14 cats. Large house, multiple section aviary, cat playground in a barn linked by a tunnel. Cat heaven. It depends on your circumstances. I've seen a lot of people take on just one more than they can cope with, and only you know your limits.
If you decide you can't take the cat, a button as cute as that should have no problem finding a home, so I wouldn't worry about that perspective.

A year ago, my two elderly cats passed. I had no idea how much I needed feline company until I got another cat. Well then there was those kittens. And who knew she would get pregnant with the bad boy across the street? Everybodyās getting fixed, and Iām so happy to live with them!

As long as their boxes stay clean, they're fed well and you love them all day every day...5 is fine. I've had 6 at once. My mother has....um... Double digit lol. But they're all healthy and house is clean. Lots of boxes throughout and cleaned 2x daily. She has nothing better to do lol

my grandmother has over 20 animals in total, she can afford to feed all of them so I'd say if you guys are financially stable, go for it! Your children will always know to love and care for animals and they'll never be bored!
... I may or may not have 15 cats, two horses and three dogs (the dogs are temporary as they needed a place to stay) so.. I think you'll be OK. Just make sure you have at least a 3-4 litter boxes.

I had 4 at one time, and it was great. You need at least 2 litter boxes, preferably 3. Which is the downside.
The rest is great. They play and sleep everywhere. It made my house more alive. I came home and was greeted by 4 little maniacs at once. You sit to watch TV, and you have a little buddy in your lap sleeping or 2.
Not to mention, when I moved into a new house, it had mice in the basement. That ended QUICK. After the first 3 days, I never had a mouse in the house. It was gruesome. But cats are inbred hunters. They are truly perfect killing machines. Which doesn't sound like a positive thing. But, I don't have rodents, so....I'm OK with that.

We had 14 cats at one time, living on 70 acres. If they can be indoor outdoor its easy. If not, the litterbox situation is going to suck. And your house will smell probably. Five cats is no more chaotic than three IMO.

We have six cats. My husband said that 5, objectively, was too many cats. But here we are. The last four were taken in as bonded pairs, which is how we jumped from two to four to six.

I think, personally, you reach crazy cat (and proud) status once you reach the number 4. So you're already there. Number 5 will not change a thing. As long as you can care for them and give them proper care, that's all that matters. Now for the fun part... congratulations on your new family member!!!! We have six cats. My husband said that 5, objectively, was too many cats. But here we are. The last four were taken in as bonded pairs, which is how we jumped from two to four to six.
