Why would someone hate cats, just look at this innocent lil guy
I'd argue that cats are a lot less domesticated than dogs are. Cats have kept their hunting instincts, and often continue to use them indoors (playing or bugs). I'd also argue that cats are a lot more likely to survive in the wild than dogs would because their instincts are more intact.
One of mine is incredibly lazy, toothless and needs one thought to leave the station to make room for the next thought to arrive. She still managed to not only track a mouse through the house but also catch it, kill it and leave it (intact, thankfully) on the end of the bed as a nice surprise for when I woke up.
Never underestimate a Purrtato.
I have a giant 18lb orange fluff. We had a mouse in our apt. He found it, cornered it, then watched as it ran under our stove. I tihnk it's a tossup lol.
I'm doubtful whether my most recent cat (RIP my sweet boy Kali) could have coped in the wild, bless him. He couldn't cope with me moving the litter tray to a different place in the same room.
Yep! Unlike most other animals who are domesticated cats have kept their normal instincts intact to probably pretty close to what it was pre-living with humans. That’s why they don’t look too different from other feline species.
Actually the domestication has been good for house cats. They developed better memory capacity and a more developed learning process/retention. (I learned this is one of my animal classes as an animal major).
Dogs are kinda dumbed down in favor of obedience too. I love dogs but we had a certain personality in mind when breeding them.
Cats are independent *because* we didnt control their domestication. They have boundaries and expect us to respect them. People that dont like cats have trouble understanding that this isnt an animal thats gunna be mindlessly loyal. Just like with people, friendship is something you work for but its so rewarding. Nothing beats that feeling when you get facebumped awake by your best friend 5 mins before your alarm goes off.
Me too. If someone states that they don’t like cats I get super guarded. There are the occasional people that just never have been around cats or grew up in a family that didn’t like cats and are open to the idea that they could be wrong and willing to learn more but for the most part it’s a huge red flag to me that I’m just not willing to take a chance on.
Absolutely 100%! Having a cat is like a roommate and that's what I love about cats so much. If one doesn't like that, chances are, I won't like them either.
People who actively *hate* animals in general, excluding people who have severe allergies to them, are red flags in general to me. How can you hate something that's totally innocent? Even if you have a bad experience with a certain animal, I don't think that justifies hating the entire species.
I would argue though, that you can have severe allergies to animals and want/need to stay away from them but not hate animals. My brother has really bad allergies to cats, but he loves mine and send reels of different toys and gadgets he thinks my cats would like.
That's often the reason, sometimes there are others.
But they key point is, a person who hates cats is a bad person.
(Key point: There's a difference between not liking and hating - I've known plenty of good people who prefer dogs, or just don't care for pets in general, or whatever, and that's fine, but active hate is something else entirely.)
I always say cats are a lesson in consent. Some people can’t stand that they have to get cats’ consent to truly interact with them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Like others have said, abject hatred of cats is a red flag in most circumstances.
Make no mistake, we didn’t domesticate them—they just one day decided themselves to get into our houses and tolerate us petting them as long as we keep them fed…
r/cathate is one I found that is serious, but it’s very dead and some posts are wondering why their cat hate sub has less posts than other animals hate subs? Crazy shit

would you believe he is trying to get darker? /j
I don’t trust people that hate cats. Fine if you don’t like them just keep it moving. But to actively hate them enough to join a community of cat haters is deeply disturbing.
Yep… my abusive ex hated cats because they didn’t cuddle him whenever he wanted and didn’t always want to play with him. He hated me for the very same reasons
Every cat i have ever met has been opaque. Maby some translucent around the ears. Where do you get the transparent ones?
Also, you probabley shouldn't pay attention to me
lol and here I am adoring cats because they aren't up my ass all the time
I like having a companion that works on his or her own schedule. It's part of the charm.
I read this so many years ago and it has stuck with me ever since. It’s 100% the case, because even if they’re like “cats are dirty.. they walk on counters blah” they’re mad they can’t keep a cat off the counter. It’s insanity to me to be so angry at an innocent creature
Also, cats don’t step ON their poop or pee. They step around it, and bury it around it. They don’t sit on it or in it. It’s not like a dog who has anal glands that they rub all over people’s floor.
lol that’s the funny part, just like a dog will not jump on the couch when their owner is home but cameras show them enjoying things they usually get in trouble for.
Dude, as a cat and dog owner, I love them both equally for very different reasons, but my dogs are WAY bigger pains in my ass than my cats are. The argument is that dogs are “superior” because they actually need and want you, but because of that, dogs are waaaaay more high maintenance than cats are. That’s the exact reason most people should think twice before even getting a dog.
I can actively tell when my shepherd is weighing the pros and cons of doing something he *knows* he’s not supposed to. My pittie just does shit and asks for forgiveness later. Training is constant, and any future dog owner needs to be prepared to put in **work**. My cats? They’re just vibing. Sure they get on the counter, but aside from that, they’ve been trained (yes, trained, as in behaviorally monitored and adjusted) not to do many things. We have cameras, they legitimately do nothing wrong day in day out.
A lot of cat haters or cat dislikers have a tendency to try to train their cats as if they’re dogs. They don’t communicate that way, and their owners don’t want to learn cat communication.
Thanks for the explanation on cat vs dog. I will never own a dog for everything you’ve said. I do not have time, energy, patience or desire to get an animal that requires training. I could care less if an animal sits or stays on my command. Cats know the litter box the same day I bring them home from the shelter! And I enjoy their purrs and head butts. And I love being able to sleep in on my day off instead of getting up to walk a dog. Every cat I’ve owned learned my biorhythms & know when I’m going to wake up and never disturb my sleep. Enough of me rambling\~\~ here’s the cat tax!
https://preview.redd.it/629uxishvebd1.jpeg?width=2527&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c78cf75e3f6a5647e56fa3a6bd9c116584242f94
Hard agree. My dog is a much bigger pain than my two cats. My cats just chill with each other and really don’t get up to much mischief, my dog is much more work (which is fine for me as I’m able to give her the time and training she constantly needs, but a lot of people don’t realise this until they’re in the trenches).
I never understood the "cats are dirty" argument to be honest, and only ever hear it from dog owners. Always felt like projection to me.
I've never opted to not relax on a couch or chair because it smells like cat but I've DEFINITELY opted to not relax on a couch or chair because it reeked of dog.
I'm also hard pressed to think of a breed of cat that has "drools all over your house" as a feature, but its a highlight for multiple breeds of dog.
That's always an odd argument to me. Pets and babies and stuff are generally not super clean. Even my bunny had accidents and gross stuff sometimes. If you're a germaphobe don't have a pet? Don't have kids either...? Like I don't understand why people argue back and forth over the cleanliness of their dogs and cats. They're animals! They're gonna put their lil paws where they're not supposed to be once and a while, theyre gonna have bathroom accidents, they're gonna throw up on things, they're gonna eat something really disgusting, or maybe bring you a big fat dead "present" but that's alright! They don't have a concept of what we call "clean" they are our animals we sort of have to embrace constantly cleaning up after them. The entire argument is psycho to me personally.
Yep. Accepting that animals are kind of gross is part of the responsibility of having them.
I recently got a gargoyle gecko, and they can carry salmonella. It doesn't mean the gecko is a "dirty" animal. It just means I have to wash my hands before I touch food or my face (frankly, something I also do with my cats)
I have scars on my arm from trying to drag one of my seniors (a former street cat) over to me while he was sleeping. Poor guy just felt himself getting grabbed and freaked out, and attacked my arm. I just froze and told him it was okay, and when he came to his bearings he was very apologetic and wanted to snuggle, but damn. I apparently didn't learn my lesson because as soon as I was healed up, I did it again and he bit the heck out of my other arm during his freakout. He didn't consent and I didn't learn until I learned the hard way twice.
I don't wake former street cats up suddenly any more because it was made extraordinarily clear to me that it's A Very Bad Thing and Bad Things will happen when kitty isn't aboard with what's going on.
Not sure how that waters down the concept of consent like one of the comments suggests, but I think it's definitely a good example of consent and what happens when boundaries aren't respected.
That being said, I'm unable to have kids or adopt, and my cats are my babies, so you bet your bippy my maternal instincts have kicked in to make sure that even my cats emotional and physical needs are met.
Beautiful example. Blaming cats for being afraid and confused and trying to defend themselves gives the same energy as victim blaming. Puts a very bad taste in my mouth.
Imagine if giants ruled the world and felt they could touch you and pick you up whenever they wanted. I’d bite back too!
That's the thing. I can understand really hating it when your neighbour's cat is shitting in your garden and other such annoyances.
But there's people actively poisoning cats/animals and apparently there's a sub for that, too. Not too surprised about the latter, Reddit has some hateful subs. But it's a very sad ordeal.
Glad my cat's an indoor one!
That’s insane!!! And what’s really sad is people are really good at finding out who people are online, right? If I could do it, I’d spend all my hours reporting those people to their local police departments but of course they wouldn’t do much of anything because in the eyes of the law our pets are seen as less than human, which is sad. It’s a creature with a soul and a will to live; what makes it any less in need than a child being abused? They each are dependent on an adult for care and it’s insane to me that people care so little for other creatures
Yeah in my anecdotal experience, people who actually hate cats (not just allergic or w/e) tend to be deeply insecure and unable to handle an animal that isn't completely dependent on them.
I have a chihuahua and a cat. Everyone I know that has talked shit about chihuahuas changed their mind after meeting my baby. But that’s because they either never met a chihuahua in person or they did once and it wasn’t a well trained chihuahua( which is the owners fault)
Exactly! I have met one mean Chihuahua and she was a mother from a puppy mill, which would make any dog act that way. My grandma rescued Chihuahuas frequently and they were so sweet and kind. One was named Buddy and he was the sweetest dog I have ever met. I miss my grandma and her dogs so much.
Fuck them. Twats.

Totally that!
I am not a big fan of birds but I certainly don't hate them and I have occasionally baby sat my friend's budgies when she was away. Same with dogs, I like them but in small doses, It's fun to petsit for a few days and play but they are too "needy" for me to have one.
I don't understand people who hate a certain type of pets. Even if you are allergic, it's no reason to hate them, just stay away.
While you're right, I don't like the often said statement "Hate for animals is just the beginning".
It implies that hate for humans is the following step and hating *humans* was the *actual* problem.
As if hating non-human animals wasn't enough.
Just wanted to add 🤷🏼
This! Particularly in the context of animal abuse. You always hear that abusing/killing animals is just the 'beginning' for someone who will inevitably hurt/kill a human, as if that's ultimately what needs to be prevented. Nevermind all the poor defenceless creatures they hurt in the first place, it's the humans we've gotta protect. 🙄
Obviously I don't want humans getting hurt either but animals feel pain and fear just as we do, and I hate that their suffering is considered less important by so many.
I suspect people like that are that way because cats aren't all that domesticated and it takes actual work to cohabitate with them. They probably want their pets dumb and utterly dependent which a cat won't do.
People on there were hating on cats for doing things that cats and other animals do, following their nature. It seemed like they were holding a grudge against nature. I am having a hard time believing they like any animal.
There was also a subreddit called r/Ifuckinghatecats, that was even worse. I think that one doesn't exist anymore. Personally, I found it kind of funny, people getting all worked up over a little animal.
A lot of it was, "my partner has a cat and I hate it" sort of stuff.
Yeah, I just saw that it's r/Ifuckinghatecatsvol2. There was no reasoning with the people in the original subreddit. They'd just down vote me, and called me a cathag. They call cats shitrats.
Disgusting. I hope they all rot. The fact that they had to make a *second* subreddit to spread their hate is ridiculous. It's an echochamber of only the things they want to hear, that's why they downvote anyone with any sense. 😒
Yeah, I love dogs, but it seems like people who hate on cats because “they don’t actually love you” or “they aren’t loyal” just want a submissive dog that’s basically their slave lol
The Plague (aka Black Death 1346-1353) that killed 30%-60% of the population was so bad because cats had been vilified, were routinely exterminated, and thus rats and rodents were allowed to overpopulate and spread bubonic plague. People that hate cats need a wakeup call.
Then again, the Egyptians had a trade in cat mummies, where I'm not so sure if the cats all died of natural causes, but they did that to baboons and other animals too. One of the things I think humans need to rise above is our inclination to exploit animals. And other humans, for that matter.
This exactly! Cat haters don't realize this. Hating an innocent animal is beyond wrong, and persecuting them only harms the environment and the other creatures living in it. Because we all have a place in the ecosystem.

Absolutely! I know plenty of people that don’t really fuck with cats, including some of my friends. But guess what? Every time they come over, they always pet my cat Lilo because she’s just a little baby who wants love. They don’t hate her. They just don’t like cats which just means they would personally never own one.
I respect that. It’s ok to not like cats or dogs. Just don’t buy one. But to hate an animal and say downright vile things about them is weird ya know? I will give a pass to people that have trauma. Like, maybe they’ve been attacked by a dog or a cat and now they really don’t like any of them. That’s ok, but if you’re just some chad pos that hates cats, you suck.
Me too. I will never trust anyone who says they hate an innocent creature that has never done anything to them. Especially animals (like cats and dogs) who willingly show love to us humans.
Unfortunately it’s really common; outright hate or viewing all cats as invasive, diseased or pests. I don’t mind if someone isn’t a cat lover, but it disgusts me that someone outright loathes cats and wants to hurt them. I like the fact that cats are sweet and loving without uncomfortable slavish devotion. When they come to me for attention, I enjoy their company.
I think one of the biggest complaints is that people let their cats roam the neighborhood so even people who don't particularly like cats have to deal with them leaving messes in their garden. I love cats, I love my indoor cat, but I hate that my front garden smells like my neighbor's cat's piss 😑
I’ve never met or seen someone who hated animals without having intense serial killer vibes. This rabbit hole actually goes pretty deep and it’s really bizarre, there is a YouTube documentary that goes into the absolutely huge baby monkey hatred / abuse, and they also make up reasons as to why they hate them so much while consuming similar content 24/7.
Its likely that they use small animals as an analog for projecting their demented hatred for children or people, it probably stems from some kind of trauma or psychopathy. It’s been said multiple times that we as humans have a nurturing response to small animals because they biologically remind us of babies, these people completely lack that response and probably a lot of other important emotions.
Cats are honestly some of the most beautiful and relatable animals in the world, if someone has a deep murderous hatred for them then they are messed up in the head.
My cat would commit warcrimes im 15 countrys but I still love him all the same hes the sweetest beans I could ever ask for.

I don’t understand it either. Look at my girl smiling. All she wants in life is near constant belly rubs and food. What is there to hate? She’s so fluffy and purrs so loud.
You're not wrong but it also shouldn't be surprising considering some of the most popular subreddits are built on rage bait posts and comment debates full of vitriol.
Reddit is practically built on hate and bitterness, it's just usually ignored because it's aimed at other people instead of animals.
Reddit is absolutely insane. They allow subreddits that will absolutely traumatize you like fifty fifty (you click on a image or video, and either it will be cute or something extremely gory.) Cats are amazing and wonderful creatures, I have four babies myself.
There’s a lot of weirdos in the world. I will be very suspicious of a person that does not like animals, but not of animals that doesn’t like a person.
Seriously tho. I get it if you don’t like cats, whatever, they’re not for everyone. But I’ve seen multiple comments and subs of people saying they’d “leave the fucking cat anywhere, I don’t care where” if they could. That’s where they lose me. You don’t like cats. But you’d also put a defenseless animal in harms way? Yeah you’re a piece of shit
Owning a cat again as an adult has really opened my eyes to a very interesting phenomena. Idk where you are but in America it’s very much a “dog country”. Majority of pet stuff seems to be for dogs. Dogs are man’s best friend, dogs are loyal, etc etc is usually what you’ll hear. Dogs are like the epitome of an American pet, especially certain breeds.
Underneath it there seems to be this almost weird acceptance of people behaving wrongly or even cruelly towards cats. And it’s weird the number of people I’ve seen that have bias against cats for no real reason, or this weird stigma against owning cats (let alone multiple). We often hear about crazy cat lady alone, but where’s crazy dog lady?
Of course I know people also can hate dogs and abuse does happen. I’m just sharing my weird soap box lol. I’ll also pay the cat tax
https://preview.redd.it/41dbm0k98bbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ddc2b5989887367b39f080ec30a1bb423503e13
I’m not the most social person but I sometimes get my cues about people from animals and/or their interactions with animals. People who smack pets, kids who tie squirrels’ tails together, people who put dogs in cages, etc., I stay away from them. Animals are easier to get along with, even though we don’t speak the same language.
I can hate on people, mostly as a reaction on how the way they treat me (I work in retail). But for me there’s never any reason to hate an animal for being what they are. People though, sometimes I just can bring the hate on so easily. So there.
If you work in retail, you have all the reasons to hate on people. But I get what you are saying. I have seen people who tie firecrackers to dogs' tails for some funtime. I hate those people.
To me, as the servant to nine of these overlords, these knuckledraggers suffer from severe cases of insecurity. They realize that most felines could outsmart them. They love dogs (I do too) because they are submissive, and they can “rule” over them.
https://preview.redd.it/rmhk9szy7bbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61044f8e7724cfbbaccb042dbeb6938c2eeae90b
r/cathate the people on that sub are wondering why people don’t like them and I saw a post saying that most cat owners are in a Stockholm syndrome relationship with the cat. lol
Man, i don’t get why people hate cats. What they ever do to you to kill them? Some people are fucked up bad. Anyways, i’m gonna go pet my little goofy goober now.
I love your cats OP, they’re gorgeous! ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7971)
People who frequent subreddits like that cat hating one have something missing from their lives. They fill that empty hole with forming online echo chambers where they can circlejerk about hating the same thing.
Every single cat I’ve had has made my life more joyful. I feel bad for anyone that closes the door on that. Some people can’t handle having a pet that they can’t control
Dog haters keep quiet, except on certain subs on Reddit, because it is not socially acceptable to say you hate dogs. But it seems fine to say you hate cats and I knew one person who made it a core part of his personality. I love cats.
https://preview.redd.it/frkxbw9fjbbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=831552a5965e9b09d674f6f3c4cc208b2b38848b
How could you hate such a dapper gentleman
I work with a woman who vehemently hates cats. She knows I have a cat and has graciously agreed that even though she dislikes cats, she understands I love my cat. My co-worker is a dog person. I don't dislike dogs; I don't feel that I'm home enough for the kind of attention a dog would require. I've often thought when I retire from work and am home more I would look into getting a dog. A previous boss of mine said, "People who have dogs, don't understand personal boundaries; a person who has a cat, does understand boundaries." I can see that statement both ways; if a cat doesn't want you around, you know. Then my cat doesn't allow me to use the restroom by myself, so there's that. Really a cat wants every living creature to respect the cat's boundaries; however, a cat can trample all over your boundaries. Honestly, for me, I wanted something to nurture and love; I don't mind being my cat's hooman.

I am all for giving the trolls their own thread to spew hate. Instead of coming over here and subjecting all of us to it!
Historically speaking, cat hate is entangled with misogyny. So I have a pretty good idea of the kind of trolls that are going to populate that sub. I will stay far far far far far far away from it.
The people on that sub are so pathetic, and they are OBSESSED with toxaplasmosis and won't shut up about it and think that all cat lovers are infected with it.
There are so many subs that hate everything. There's one that hates kids, hates cleaning meat, that hates specific people. Some people just hate for no good reason. Like I understand if they had past experiences with something that caused the dislike, but that doesn't mean that every single cat is out to get you. There was even a sub that passed over my feed that hated trees. How do you hate trees?
https://preview.redd.it/vagh7qifebbd1.jpeg?width=1917&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1eeb448cb3ea5f063d2ca9e170486d7aded18c8
How could someone hate Slippers 😡😡😡
Omg I saw some posts there too, it was shocking. Also hilarious most reasons people had were that cats kill birds and mice....the level of stupidity... Imagine hating an animal just doing it's thing of nature.
There is one sub hating on horses as well. I don't know whats wrong with these people but I gladly avoid anyone hating animals for no reason. I totally understand if you don't want a pet or are afraid of certain animals you had a bad experience with but mindlessly hating them is a really bad sign about a person.
People who hate cats, hate them because they don't provide them with affection _on their human terms_ like dogs do. They cannot stand the fact that cats are emotionally discerning and require effort to form a bond with.
I just go right past them. There is a dark portion of Reddit I avoid, due to there being a lot of sick fucks out there who are enjoying their anonymity.
Who could possibly hate these beautiful creatures 😭

Cat hate is and has always been a huge red flag for me. They're nowhere near as loud or intrusive as even dogs can be. How do you hate an animal that's minding its own business. I'm cool with people not wanting a cat, or even not liking them (my sister gets freaked out by the staring) but actively hating them is just weird and disturbing.
https://preview.redd.it/9kwa48c8vabd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6de1c692fc520c6fd7c349b3c8283387de09f998 Why would someone hate cats, just look at this innocent lil guy
Right? Cats are one of the silliest creatures alive and we domesticated them and they just chill in our houses now. How could you hate that?
We didn't domesticate them, they are the only animal that domesticated himself ! They came to us.
I'd argue that cats are a lot less domesticated than dogs are. Cats have kept their hunting instincts, and often continue to use them indoors (playing or bugs). I'd also argue that cats are a lot more likely to survive in the wild than dogs would because their instincts are more intact.
Also, dogs have been bred to perform all sorts of tasks, from helping to hunt to herding sheep to helping the blind. Cats have one job and do it well.
Some cats do it well. Others, like mine, are about as smart as a potato.
I also had a cat that watched mice. Personally, I've always preferred fast food to anything in a can, but to each his own.
Some cats aren't yet as smart as a potato. I call him Fred.
Dogs were bred from wolves by humans for jobs. Cats are pretty much in the same form they were thousands of years ago.
I'm doubtful whether my most recent cat (RIP my sweet boy Kali) could have coped in the wild, bless him. He couldn't cope with me moving the litter tray to a different place in the same room.
Clearly it had been in the perfect spot, and he couldn't understand why you would move it from such a perfect location to a sub optimal location.
Idk maybe if ur a soulless Ghoul
What do you mean ‘we domesticated them’?? They decided we were cool and chose us as their roommates/slaves.
I'm convinced that people who hate cats just can't stand the fact a cat won't "obey" them.
Ding, ding, ding you are so correct. I have found this to be true with every irl experience I’ve had with people who don’t like cats.
True. That’s how I was thinking. Hate is a very strong word/emotion.
I had a friend who hated cats and well she ended up being two faced and exactly what I should have expected from a cat hater
I always say cats are a lesson in consent. Some people can’t stand that they have to get cats’ consent to truly interact with them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Like others have said, abject hatred of cats is a red flag in most circumstances.
Silly is an understatement. Who else would hunt greebles if we didn't have cats?
Make no mistake, we didn’t domesticate them—they just one day decided themselves to get into our houses and tolerate us petting them as long as we keep them fed…
Not sure about anyone else here but in my case, the cats have domesticated me to fit their lifestyles.
BOOP. He is made for 💕
If yr talking about r/catsareassholes, it’s meant as a light-hearted sendup of feline naughtiness.
r/cathate is one I found that is serious, but it’s very dead and some posts are wondering why their cat hate sub has less posts than other animals hate subs? Crazy shit
Its banned. Thank god i dont even know why i checked
Weird I was just looking at it 5 minutes ago. Someone is fast.
it was banned 14 years ago
Okay then they're sorta fast. Maybe.

Haha he needs some tanning oil, then
All these pictures of kitties sunning themselves and here I have two that prefer closets and dark rooms.
She is a ⭐. Respect.
That's the way to be, Cat.
Living fabulously is the best revenge and it looks like she's succeeding
Ignore the hate, and enjoy your time with your two lovely friends
I don’t trust people that hate cats. Fine if you don’t like them just keep it moving. But to actively hate them enough to join a community of cat haters is deeply disturbing.
Exactly.
Cats are a case study in consent, that's why. They hate cats because they can't control them.
SO TRUE! anyone who I’ve met in life that proudly hate cats also somehow always end up being abusive pricks in one way or another. shocker
Yep… my abusive ex hated cats because they didn’t cuddle him whenever he wanted and didn’t always want to play with him. He hated me for the very same reasons
They’re so fucking transparent honestly
Every cat i have ever met has been opaque. Maby some translucent around the ears. Where do you get the transparent ones? Also, you probabley shouldn't pay attention to me
lol and here I am adoring cats because they aren't up my ass all the time I like having a companion that works on his or her own schedule. It's part of the charm.
I read this so many years ago and it has stuck with me ever since. It’s 100% the case, because even if they’re like “cats are dirty.. they walk on counters blah” they’re mad they can’t keep a cat off the counter. It’s insanity to me to be so angry at an innocent creature Also, cats don’t step ON their poop or pee. They step around it, and bury it around it. They don’t sit on it or in it. It’s not like a dog who has anal glands that they rub all over people’s floor.
Funny thing is generally you can teach them to not walk on counters... At least while youre watching
lol that’s the funny part, just like a dog will not jump on the couch when their owner is home but cameras show them enjoying things they usually get in trouble for.
And they teach you to make sure you close all cabinet doors or you will find them napping in your Corning Ware.
It just means I have to wash my hands before I touch food or my face (frankly, something I also do with my cats)
https://www.reddit.com/r/catfree/s/2NLUCx8zJo They have no argument. They’re literally just mad a cat might not want to be held 😂. I don’t understand
This has blown my mind.
My sister hates cats and loves horses; an animal you literally drive. Im sussed lmao
A sub for poisoning animals is crazy.
A sub for poisoning animals should be banned.
That's what I was saying, too.
That sort of thing should be against the site tos, no? Which sub is this?
Anyone who hates small animals makes me upset, the horrible things people have said about Chihuahuas to me breaks my heart.
I find that cat haters lack intelligence
I generally don’t trust anyone that hates any animal. Massive red flag. But cats especially.
Honestly you *cannot* say you hate dogs, but it’s totally acceptable to just hate on cats. I don’t get it.

💯
Their lack of empathy for life is scary. Not sure why humans need to hate.
Yes, empathy in general. That's what counts
Yeah I can understand not being a fan of certain animals bc you just don’t vibe with them but to outright hate an animal is weird
This exactly! 💯
🙄 Obviously I don't want humans getting hurt either but animals feel pain and fear just as we do, and I hate that their suffering is considered less important by so many.
Of course it's a private community. Pathetic imbeciles.
They should all be on a watch list, freaking psychopaths >.>
Oh it's blind hate then? No pun intended but irrational hate is a different animal entirely.
Yeah, I love dogs, but it seems like people who hate on cats because “they don’t actually love you” or “they aren’t loyal” just want a submissive dog that’s basically their slave lol
https://preview.redd.it/s6mabobu6bbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69716e21fb24ee3246e207da0573b24159aac8cc Living his best life
The Plague (aka Black Death 1346-1353) that killed 30%-60% of the population was so bad because cats had been vilified, were routinely exterminated, and thus rats and rodents were allowed to overpopulate and spread bubonic plague. People that hate cats need a wakeup call.
Maybe they hate cats because they themselves are vermin.
![gif](giphy|xT1XGU1AHz9Fe8tmp2)
Cat hating got them what they deserve. Cats are a gift from God.
Yes. They had become associated with witchcraft and the Devil, so they were feared and exterminated.
Religion & genocide, name a better pair.
It’s crazy how they were treated in Europe yet in Egypt that were seen as vessels to the afterlife and highly respected. Just sad
I genuinely don't trust people who say they hate animals, especially cats.

Only cruel people harm cats.
Cats and other animals. I don't trust people who hate animals.

There are plenty of hate subs, for dogs and cats sadly. Sick people out there
Right? Like none of it made any sense. Most of it was simply non sense, like garbled hate speech written by a bratty five year old.

How are hate groups like that even allowed on Reddit? Shame on Reddit for allowing it.
You're not wrong but it also shouldn't be surprising considering some of the most popular subreddits are built on rage bait posts and comment debates full of vitriol. Reddit is practically built on hate and bitterness, it's just usually ignored because it's aimed at other people instead of animals.
r/aww is surprisingly a toxic subreddit. I found comments that left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Yes that makes a lot of sense.
I’m sure you’re 100% correct. I haven’t been on Reddit that long to notice this.
Reddit is absolutely insane. They allow subreddits that will absolutely traumatize you like fifty fifty (you click on a image or video, and either it will be cute or something extremely gory.) Cats are amazing and wonderful creatures, I have four babies myself.
Took me a fraction of a second to upvote this.
I felt the same about your original post!
Animal cruelty is an indicator for violent behavior. I don’t trust anyone that hates animals…except mosquitoes. Fuck mosquitoes.
And ticks!
I’ll also pay the cat tax https://preview.redd.it/41dbm0k98bbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ddc2b5989887367b39f080ec30a1bb423503e13
They love dogs (I do too) because they are submissive, and they can “rule” over them. https://preview.redd.it/rmhk9szy7bbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61044f8e7724cfbbaccb042dbeb6938c2eeae90b
r/cathate the people on that sub are wondering why people don’t like them and I saw a post saying that most cat owners are in a Stockholm syndrome relationship with the cat. lol
That one got banned fortunately!
Man, i don’t get why people hate cats. What they ever do to you to kill them? Some people are fucked up bad. Anyways, i’m gonna go pet my little goofy goober now.
I love your cats OP, they’re gorgeous! ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7971) People who frequent subreddits like that cat hating one have something missing from their lives. They fill that empty hole with forming online echo chambers where they can circlejerk about hating the same thing.
Every single cat I’ve had has made my life more joyful. I feel bad for anyone that closes the door on that. Some people can’t handle having a pet that they can’t control
Those people are sociopaths.
let them keep waving their red flag
Dog haters keep quiet, except on certain subs on Reddit, because it is not socially acceptable to say you hate dogs. But it seems fine to say you hate cats and I knew one person who made it a core part of his personality. I love cats.
Crazy dog people hate cats a lot; as if it's a competition. 😑
https://preview.redd.it/frkxbw9fjbbd1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=831552a5965e9b09d674f6f3c4cc208b2b38848b How could you hate such a dapper gentleman
Ew sickos, it’s probably just a FBI subreddit to flag potential psychopaths

Omg, look at his precious self presenting his royal butthole in your face. He is a darling 😘
We need a people hate subreddit, because people suck.
There already are plenty of them on here, they just go by different names.

I have a family member who thinks cats are evil and created by Satan. So weird. They will not come to my house because I have 2.
Saw one for dogs yesterday too. I muted the sub so I don’t get recommendations for it again. I don’t know what’s wrong with people

I don't trust animal haters
petfree is disgusting. the people in it spew hate and it’s just weird behaviour.
People who hate cats, hate them because they don't provide them with affection _on their human terms_ like dogs do. They cannot stand the fact that cats are emotionally discerning and require effort to form a bond with.
There’s a subreddit for dog haters too. Imagine having enough energy to mod a page like that. So much toxic energy. I don’t want any part of that.
Cats aren’t slaves, that’s why
This cat is beautiful and majestic
yeah hate for animals and babies is really weird to me. they're literally innocent...😬
I just go right past them. There is a dark portion of Reddit I avoid, due to there being a lot of sick fucks out there who are enjoying their anonymity.
Who could possibly hate these beautiful creatures 😭 https://preview.redd.it/lf1ocwdxabbd1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c1d90674375d39a43ce41baa25f383833e98d14
I have a friend that "hates cats". He's always put off sociopath vibes. I'm convinced that anyone that "hates" cats is an asshole.
