No, all this means is they don’t tell people they’re going to take their affordable healthcare away because it’s popular. Doesn’t mean AT ALL that they won’t do it if they regain control.

If we keep the filibuster it's highly unlikely that they will be able to. The filibuster stopped them last time. Also, there are other culture war issues to focus on now, I don't think Republicans care as much about the ACA anymore.

If the GOP takes back the Senate, Mitch will dump the filibuster first thing.

If they were going to get rid of the filibuster they would have done it while Trump was president when it was preventing them from doing things like repeal the ACA. They won't do it unless the Democrats do it first

Old-AF

I don’t believe that for a minute.

I think the biggest threat to the ACA will be the courts. Repealing the ACA through Congress is too risky and politically visible and it doesn’t make sense for them to kill the filibuster to do it when they can repeal most of it through reconciliation anyway. However, red states and individual Congresspersons can support lawsuits challenging pieces of the ACA, such as the recent lawsuits targeting preventive care regulations. These lawsuits are less visible than a Congressional floor fight and can be run through conservative district courts in Texas which tend to reflexively back GOP priorities. This shields Republicans in Congress from political accountability since they don’t have to take votes and can still sabotage and dismantle the ACA without needing to vote.
