Fun my understanding, severe cfs means bedbound and moderate means largely housebound. I think that a person with only very mild cfs could be a flight attendant but would still have trouble due to too much standing, moving around, and irregular working hours. For those with cfs who can work, the most manageable jobs are ones where you get to be off your feet and where you are not required to follow too rigid a schedule for daily work tasks.

I agree with this. When I considered myself moderate I was mostly housebound and I could only just about handle a working-from-home desk job. Definitely couldn't have handled being a flight attendant. Plus if you throw jetlag into the mix (depending on how far you're flying)... not good at all.

I thought about this the other day because I was a flight attendant before getting sick. I definitely could not do it now. Even while relatively healthy, the job was exhausting for me (I found it physically tiring but under stimulating mentally). Your days can be very long with lots of reaching, pulling, bending, twisting, crouching, standing, and walking (we were required to walk in heels through the airport and those carts are heavy). The cabin air can easily dehydrate you and the altitude would not be ideal. We are told to take vitamins because it’s very easy to get sick either from the passengers or just the lifestyle and conditions. Not to mention the early hours, irregular schedule, and constant time changes. Also, you need to be physically fit enough to respond to potential life and death situations which require strength, speed, and agility. Some airlines require swimming and/or emergency evacuation tests during training. I would not recommend that job for anyone with ME.

Sorry you have this condition. Short answer: no. Moderate me/cfs usually means housebound. Pushing yourself can make you worse in the long run. You can improve with rest, and if you do then you might be able to pursue the career you want!

Could you be a flight attendant on your worst days? I don’t mean your worst day of all time but think of your worst days in the last 1-3 months. Could you have done that job then? I’m lucky and despite being moderate (mostly housebound), I have a desk job that’s 100% remote that I can do on my average worst days. I will take a sick day a few times a year when I’m truly unable to work but I can sit at a desk and type >90% of the time so I focused on jobs that don’t require many meetings, no travel, and have some flexibility around schedule. I have a really rigid sleep requirement so I wouldn’t be able to be a flight attendant just due to the time zone changes and sleep deprivation, much less the physical activity required.

>Am moderate/severe more severe though. And you are considering being a flight attendant? Is this a joke ? 😐 Edit: can you explain what is severe cfs? I think your definition is off a bit.
