I think Danya and Hess are doing a fantastic job, but yeah Danny Rensch doesn't seem like the best addition. Judit or Leko would have been a great third person to join them instead.
Magnus' surprise entry was quite amusing, I'm glad he came overall and offered a few of his insights but the whole segment felt so painfully awkward compared to the flow and chemistry of the regular commentators.
I think once Magnus agreed to join Rensch wanted to do the broadcast to be part of that.
Danny said in the lie detector video that he believes he is the “greatest chess commentator of all time” so I honestly think he thought he was doing us a favor
I preferred Magnus' approach. He isn't just stubbornly looking at one board for 15-20 minutes and only then switching to another like it's some forced ritual.
He goes wherever an interesting move has been made right when it's been made. Reminds me of how Svidler tends to do commentary but just not as polished and professional.
I enjoy Carlsen's commentary though. Some people had been asking for him to be involved somehow. The problem I see with folks commentating is that they follow the engine lines a lot and then they all agree on something, instead of looking for reasons the players would be enjoying their positions.
Literally a minute or two after you wrote that, they went through a line and said
"The eval bar doesn't like that so maybe they shouldn't do it" (or something close to that; I am quoting from memory, don't @ me :D)
Superb commentary.
Every commentator has their own style. Sometimes you'll like it, sometimes you won't. It's normal. That's why they are always changing. If you don't like today's trio, just switch to another broadcast. Stop crying about it.
The commentators are scrubs
They literally just said Hikaru would settle for a draw because there’s still prize money on the line…as if the little $3500 for a draw matters to Hikaru
They are talking about a hypothetical later on. Of course he plays for a win now but what would he do if there are realistically no winning chances anymore? Do you play a desperate move and hope the opponent makes a massive blunder or do you just accept that you won't get more than a draw?

This is my opinion as well

Not the worst but given that it's the final round sure ok it's the worst

Speak for yourself and not for others. Thanks. I enjoy it today very much.
Danny Ranch is comic relief, he lightens the room
Much like the sauce he's named after.
But he didn't know when to be funny, and when he tried to be funny, he wasn't.

I wish you were commentating. Not.
