Joong Boo Market (snack corner inside)

pporkpiehat

And the buns outside

EcstaticIncrease3791

Get the sampler plate outside!! Amazing deal- like $12 for a ton of food

mmeeplechase

I don’t believe it’s possible to leave Jong Boo without stopping for one of those perfect buns on the way out!

weekendpostcards

Edible cheap sushi!!

blackestsea

*Taste Of Lebanon*

blankblankblank827

Best lentil soup in the city

_Vermy_

Love this place. Two people can be absolutely stuffed for under $25

bbwolf22

Their appetizer portions are huge!

Shallot_Belt

Came here to say this one

hqsqotu

Pho 888 on Argyle. get the beef and veg with wide noodles and ask them to make the noodles crispy. It’s delectable and for $18.95, you get two meals. Al’s Beef on Taylor. Superdawg. Kabobi serves humongous portions of kabobs and rice that will feed two for under $20. Cross-Rhodes in Evanston for Greek salads and char burgers.

ababahbah

Worth mentioning Kabobi's lunch special from 1030-4 or late night special from 10pm - 1 am which is essentially the same amount of food as their standard entree

txQuartz

Carnitas Uruapan is still incredible value especially on weekdays.

MusicCityRebel

Where at?

Radiant-Reputation31

18th St. in Pilsen and 55th in Brighton Park.

MusicCityRebel

Thanks

txQuartz

55th and California, the Pilsen one is not eat in

fewerbricks

What do you order? And why only a good value on weekdays? Is there a weekday special?

txQuartz

Well, not only good value on weekdays, but yes, there is a special. I either get the special, or a half pound of carnitas and a chicharron guisado. Even then, it's still sub-$20 which these days is damn good for a full sitdown.

Johnny_Burrito

Yes, there is a weekday lunch special, and it’s a ridiculous value.

jabbs72

Red Hot Ranch

SupaDupaTron

This is the way.

21Sweetness

If it makes you feel any better, you’re being downvoted for your unoriginal response from a Dorky tv show. Not bc you’re wrong.

SupaDupaTron

I don't care either way. I didn't know I was downvoted until you told me, haha.

42069over

What is the tv show? Big bang theory?

21Sweetness

No that is *the* dorky tv show. This is just *a* dorky tv show.

mooncrane606

Pizza slices for $5 or $6 bucks. Gigio's, Salerno's, Art of Pizza, Jet's, Dante's, Paulie Gee's, D'amato's bakery. There's too many to list, and they're all great cheap eats.

eamesa

Dimo's!

Sultans Market

jimboslice29

Sultans has gone down hill in portion sizes and quality recently imo

Happy_Fig_1373

I used to go to sultans regularly, then hadn’t been in a few years. I went once this summer and it was a major disappointment.

Jyar

Their hummus tastes like peanut butter.

Polster1

Go try places that have lunch specials like Kabobi, pequod's, Pita Inn, etc..

eyoung_nd2004

Red Light Chicken, near DePaul. The menu has three items, a fried chicken sandwich, an 8-count of chicken nuggets and an order of fries. A sandwich is $7.25. It’s exceptional. There may be a line but it moves fast.

jjvanda

And they’re super nice. Love it.

Samuhhh

Devil Dawgs!! It’s my favorite place in the city (:

Wonderful_Goose3941

I walk past it all the time and I’ve never tried it. I guess I’ll have to now

Samuhhh

The morning burger is my favorite, with a bucket of fries and/or onion rings. It’s the perfect hangover meal. Also, their hot dogs are 100% beef and made locally.

lemunche1

You can always get 3 giant slices pizza for $6 from the slice factory locations using too good to go. Has kept me fed the day or two before pay day more than once. Have to not mind reheating pizza or being picky on toppings

dinosaur_0987

Terco el Leon. Favorite tacos on the north side. Their crispy tripe taco is to die for

pporkpiehat

Great hidden gem.

murmur1965

Middle Eastern Bakery. Get the pies!

waiter202

Kabobi

angrytreestump

El Famous Burrito taco Tuesdays and Sundays has $2 tacos. In Rogers Park Primo Chuki’s on Lawrence has $2 tacos Tuesdays and Thursdays. That’s 3 days a week you can get a meal for $4 or $6 depending on how much you can eat.

Theatre_throw

Goat stew at Cafe Central

hopperspaniel

Took this recommendation last week and holy smokes. Was excellent.

ItchyDinner9615

Not sure where you’re located, but fat johnnies is my favorite “hole in the wall” sort of place in the city. My absolute favorite hot dog, legendary on the south side and everything on the menu is like $3-$7. Cash only tho

eddy159357

My Place (that's what it's called) in the south loop. They have this afternoon deal for Chinese Portuguese Chicken on rice or beef noodle soup for like $9 and comes with a milk tea or lemon tea.

liessylush

CoCo Vietnamese Sandwiches and Pho on Lawrence and Ashland.

LeftEgg7948

Northern Taste in Bridgeport Insanely good Chinese food, ~$7 lunch specials. My go-to is the Stir Fried Eggplant with Minced Pork, the Mapo Tofu is also amazing.

rzagzaodbinspecta

Nick’s pit stop on Damen

jjvanda

J.T.’s Genuine Sandwich Shop on Elston near Irving Park. The pork and greens sandwich… perfection.

Uhhhh, hate to break it to you….

TheLastStarbunny

Bari is very reasonably priced. Yummy Yummy Noodles in Chinatown gives you insane portions for the price. Uncle Mike's Place is the same deal, big portions for not much cash.

more_cheese_please_

Tony’s Italian Deli & Subs in Edison Park..the BEST.

the-cream-police

Omg this place is for real. Not as good but if you use near university village Conte do Savoia has similar vibes.

cobragun1

If you have the yelp app here is a list of wonderful cheap spots around the city https://www.yelp.com/collection/5zGseTenRYtbPUEGA-JenQ?utm_content=Collections&utm_source=ishare

I recently learned that the proper name is “The Weiner’s Circle,” a pun for The Winner’s Circle.

indieemopunk

Ask for the chocolate shake.

optiplex9000

Any of the neighborhood hot dog/beef stands. All are fairly inexpensive, all of them are delicious

phredbull

Really? You want a list of all of the cheap food in the Chicagoland area?

BigBonedMiss

Those Time Out Chicago articles are not going to write themselves.

d4nkgr1l

So helpful, such a helpful comment and approach!

virgoriot
