TBH Gillanders making the food seems like more of a headline than a former Bear being involved. You can feel pretty confident the food will be en pointe if he's attached.
100% agree but I will say Israel has opened a bunch of locations in Chicago and particularly the South Loop. He has gyms and coworking spaces and several other business. It’s good for both of them to work together. Can’t wait to try it.
I saw a screenshot of the menu and I was sad that it didn’t seem super interesting? Pretty standard stuff, short rib nachos, shrimp tempura, burger, fried chicken sandwich…
The article says its going to be more sophisticated fare but, appealing to sports fans.
As a slooper, we don’t need more restaurants with TV’s that cater to 10X per year sports events
We need more everything, but in reality we just need more *good* restaurants. We have bad tacos, bad burgers, lots of bad Chinese options, and a lot of chains. We get excited when something new opens because we don’t have a ton of good spots around here. I’m hoping for good things, but pub-grub often isn’t the most intriguing.
As a slooper, I feel like what you’re saying is we need more classy interesting places. I agree, our restaurant and bar options are lacking and outside of a couple they’re mostly mediocre.
by 10 sports events per year, do you just mean the 10 Bears games?
Or the 17 MLS home games+cup events that the Fire play?
Or the 30 DePaul mens and womens basketball games?
Or the 20 Chicago Skyy games?

You forgot pizza. We have lots of bad pizza
We need more places like victory tap. Good food, not sports or teevee focused, reasonable prices and nice atmosphere
As a slooper, shush
