Goose island brewery has legit food, but tables are hard to come by - you could go there for a beer or two and then get pizza friendly pizza at the salt shed because that shit is delicious
I went to a show there, got a little tipsy, it got late, felt my blood sugar get a little low and found out rhe kitchen was still open and bought some pizza and it was the best pizza i had had in a long time. Definitely danced with pizza in my mouth out on the floor lmao
Went to goose island before a show and had the best experience. Couldn’t get a table, but two spots opened up at the bar. Our orders were taken as soon as we were ready, food came out promptly, and was really good. Our server/bartender was awesome as well. Very attentive and even gave us multiple rounds on the house. Absolutely perfect before the concert.
1308 Chicago is a little joint right across the street (Elston) from The Shed - they make a damned fine burger.
(additionally - you can park there for the show for a nominal fee).

To be honest, the offerings at the venue are surprisingly well priced and usually very tasty. I think they used to send out emails before the show with info on what food trucks or pop ups will be available
Yup, modest pricing (don’t expect deals but it’s really not that bad) and the food is decent. I was genuinely surprised, or maybe just post-concert hunger+euphoria.
Also, Vaca creamery, Taco and burrito Express #3 steak burrito, la pasadita most authentic tacos in the city (like steak onions cilantro only authentic), and if you have time all of Milwaukee and division streets up to Damen are yours to explore.
The steak burrito with everything. It's a bit more balanced than the 1lb solid meat burritos at the grocery store next door. I have never tried anything else though.
Burritos next door scratch a different itch for me. Protein.
Let's say it's in the rotation but it's a cheap burrito at the end of the day. So many choices and I like diversity of experience generally.
Did they reopen the hot dog stand at North Ave?
Last time I was there they had built a wall where the ordering window used to be and no signs anymore. Sad day.
Depot dogs are legit some of the better Chicago style hot dogs in the city. Unfortunately, I believe the stand at the Home Depot on North Ave closed a while back, which is a shame. I used to love grabbing a couple of depot dogs and going to the Hideout for some beers and a show.
If you're ever by the Home Depot at 3500 N Kimball, they have a pretty killer dog there.
I think there are a few restaurants/bars on Cortland, west of Ashland. Not much right by Salt Shed, though. Or say like Goose Island Shrimp House on Division, so not sure how good that place is as I haven't eaten there.
Except for Goose Island Brewpub. RIP, Clybourn location.
Warning before going into the salt shed. They do not allow you to enter into the goose island restaurant once you have entered the venue.
You are then stuck with countless, overpriced and mediocre food truck options.
Source: I found out the hard way on a VERY empty stomach at the Khruangbin Day 2 show
I’m not saying they were bad, I just thought it was pretty pedestrian and was already pretty pissy that we weren’t told about the goose island ingress/egress situation before entering because we had planned to eat a full meal there instead

Highly recommend- and I’ve gotten a table for the last 2 shows with about a 15 min wait! Get there around 545-6, easy peasy
So, the Goose Island Brewpub Salt Shed location has food now! One stop shop for OP, can't speak on prices though
Pizza Friendly Pizza has another place they sell at? Awesome, they have the best slices in Chicago imo.
Yea they have a food truck there or sell it inside! PFP lists it on their website too so seems like they’re planning on continuing to do so
Easy parking over there too. It’s a bit of a walk but not terrible. Grab some walking beers.
From parking? Or from Goose Island - because the brewery is right next store to the salt shed!
Did they close the one by Best Buy?
Yep, [back in December](https://chicago.eater.com/2022/12/16/23512652/goose-island-closing-clybourn-brewhouse-salt-shed-move).

Their corn ribs are the bomb!
Last time I went there, the headlining artist performing that night was having dinner there before the show!
Home of the $22 burger!
The food hasn't been the same since like, March. They also treat their employees like shit. So use your best judgement.
I thought they closed?
Just go to the salt shed and grab an empanada or two outside!
Grabbed a few empanadas last time I went to salt shed from the outside food truck and they were surprisingly very good and well priced.
Right on! I had to put in a good word for them- very good, generously portioned empanadas and a great value.
To be honest, the offerings at the venue are surprisingly well priced and usually very tasty. I think they used to send out emails before the show with info on what food trucks or pop ups will be available
This seems like the most obvious choice!

This is exactly what I came to say.
I'd say Mott St, Lawn Craft Hamburger, tacos at Guanajuato, Choppers, and The Hat are in the area as well.
Hell yeah, all these bang
Also, Vaca creamery, Taco and burrito Express #3 steak burrito, la pasadita most authentic tacos in the city (like steak onions cilantro only authentic), and if you have time all of Milwaukee and division streets up to Damen are yours to explore.
La Pasadita has fallen off its game and it is sooooo overpriced now. Sad as they used to be bomb but now the carne asada is chewy and low quality.
If there anything you've liked from Taco and Burrito Express? It tasted like fairly bland, suburban mexican food to me.

I haven’t been back to Guanajuato since the Salmonella outbreak 🤢
Easy fix, just don't get the salmon
Salmon tacos are always a gamble. Best avoided.
That was the California location(I am unfortunately intimately aware)
Hotdog from Home Depot.
Did they reopen the hot dog stand at North Ave? Last time I was there they had built a wall where the ordering window used to be and no signs anymore. Sad day.
I thought hot dog stands closed at HD?
The north one is indeed closed.
I'm surprised the North/Elston Home Depot, stopped having hot dogs. Only one I was aware of that didn't have a hot dog stand, was Halsted/Diversey.
Elston/Logan one still has hot dogs!
Can you explain this?
It's a hotdog from Home Depot.
Yep the Kimball HD is my neighborhood spot, so to speak. Never had a bad Polish or Chicago dog there.
HD Hotdogs are dope. Home Depot is right by salt shed. Like 2 blocks and you can park for free in that area around it.
Last time we went to the Shed, we had sushi and drinks at Enso (Damen and North) and then a leisurley walk to the Shed.
Dr Birds Jamaican Patty Shack is awesome. It’s my go to. Quick walk to the salt shed from there.
Mott St. is absolutely worth the 8 min drive. Good lord.
Ada St and 1308
Frontier
Podhalanka is fantastic. No beer, but the Polish grandmothers will make you some amazing food
[удалено]
I just mapped it out as a 14 minute walk.
Umamicue is doing a residency at Little Victories his brisket and other food is amazing
Azul Chicago is a short walk from Salt Shed
Overpriced but the margs slap
Pequads is just up clybourn
Right down the street is Hurley Tap - great bar food, sliders and nachos are 5 star !
Shabu plus, all you can eat shabu shabu, fun experience and you will not leave hungry!

Jook sing! Did that before salt shed the other day. Such a fun environment inside, good food, underrated, good beer and soju deal
Just eat there
sultan market! cheap middle eastern food
Get the empanadas inside the venue grounds.
El Tragon at Halsted & Division for tacos.
I would look west of the Shed on North Ave towards Damen - stuff like Pasta Bowl, tons of others.

Those egg rolls are insanely good and same with the Chicken tacos
I’m not saying they were bad, I just thought it was pretty pedestrian and was already pretty pissy that we weren’t told about the goose island ingress/egress situation before entering because we had planned to eat a full meal there instead
Shameless self promotion but Big Star West Town is less than a mile away from Salt Shed. 5 minute uber, 25 minute walk.
