So.. it’s China and the first time you gotta learn is the system.
All agents will show you the legit real prices for stuff. They don’t swindle you usually. Also, if you look online they will probably just call you anyways and it’s the same people you went to see anyways.
What city are you looking in? There’s a mini app in WeChat that has real listings. 贝壳找房 is the name.
I am looking in Suzhou currently. It triggered me cause I saw the same listing in 58 2500 and in lanjia 5600 😅. Honestly I think is better I go with an agent or just enter a Lanjia . While my Chinese is okay , I don’t feel comfortable that I won’t be scammed 🤣 . Thank you for the suggestion
Don’t trust the prices on those websites. They’re typically bs. If you find any steals, like a luxury rental for cheap, it could be generic photos that agents repost to attract clients. When asked, they’ll just say it’s no longer available, but they’ll show you other shittier places for the same cost.
Add wang114334 on WeChat. They’re an agent in Suzhou, and they’ll show you actual properties. I found him from Douyin when I was looking into Suzhou rentals a few months ago.
There’s an IFS in Suzhou, and it looks like those rentals go for 5K+ per month. Seems like a good deal. The one in Chengdu is like 14K/mo, minimum.
Thank you so much !!! Really appreciate the recommendations!! Will make sure to add him . I have see his contact being shared in other expat groups also
I think is the area I am looking is near line 2 moon bay , it seems everything is expensive. The agent told Me for one bedroom and living area from 3000-3500 and indeed even in lanjia cannot find anything cheaper. But in others areas in Suzhou you can find decent apartments for 2500
58.com has all kinds of people advertising places to rent including landlords renting directly as well as agents and various other people. Many of the ads on it are fake or at best misleading. If you’re a first time foreigner in China I recommend not renting directly from a landlord. It can be an endless pain in the neck trying to get anything fixed, getting your bond back etc. Lianjia, 我爱我家 and Anjuke are all reputable real estate companies and their lease agreements will largely protect you from horrible landlords.
Thank you very much for you suggestions . I an not new in China but I am new in the renting scene . I certainly agree with you , and from the info I gathered I also think going to these agencies is the best . 🌹
Take your time. Keep paying the hotel until you find something you like thats the key.
They show you shit shit shit (so that you panic) then show you something so so, and you will take it coz you panicked.
Take your sweet ass time.
It's called the bait and switch, and it's not only common in China, but everywhere in the world. Being an agent is super tough, and the competition is fierce. So they have to put up non-existent attractive places for cheap, to hook you in. Once you are hooked in, they will go with the "sorry it was rented out, but I can show you 5 other overpriced crappy place". It's all about the commissions.
I suggest ziroom, after graduation I have been always rented apartment on this platform. Although the price is a little bit high than others, but the apartment quality is pretty good, Most importantly, the apartment info you see on the app is 100% real.
Keep all the paper work and make photocopy of them after you get them. It’s known that house keeper and landlords will give you trouble when returning the deposit, be ready to sue them
I live in Suzhou and apartment hunt for fun, I’ve always enjoyed looking at real estate. If you need a hand or some advice you can message me. I’m always scrolling through rental and for sale properties for fun.

I’m seeing on the app I sent you, from 1850 for like studio up to 2500 and super high and nicer for 4000. Most places come with furniture btw
yes prices are in that range , comparing 贝壳 and lanjia they gave the same listings . So I suppose I should trust them more
In Suzhou, 2500 should get you an average 2 bedroom apartment. 5600 is a nice 4 bedroom 2 floor.
Where do you find a deal like that? In SND the cheapest I can find for a 3 bedroom is 5000. 6000 for a slightly bigger 3 bedroom.
