It’s only 2 of us living in our house and I try to be pretty conservative with the water just to save money. I don’t have anything using water besides typical dishes, laundry, showering, etc
Clermont County is cheap because water infrastructure improvements are massively underfunded compared to the other areas. The rest of the metro area pays more because they fund more projects and more expensive upgrades. That's the super short explanation for cost difference you have noticed.
That’s about right. Ours swings between $90 and $120 a month. It’s ridiculously expensive, but we’re paying for that billion dollar sewer pipe the Federal government forced MSD to install.
A couple of other things I found out. Your rate will vary based on the size of your lot, and the impact you are having on stormwater runoff. The other thing they charge extra for is the size of your hookup. For example, a 5/8“ hookup has a higher charge than a 1/2“. It doesn’t matter what your actual usage is and that the actual volume is the same. You still get a higher charge if your pipe is bigger.
Different charges for 5/8 hookup and 1/2 hookup is ridiculous. There is no way for them to warrant that charge. The volume you use is the volume you use. Doesn't matter if it is entering your home through a 24" main. I'd have to get to the bottom of that one if I was involved.
Cinti used to be $120/quarter
Then they decided to bill monthly since some had difficulty paying.
Bills immediately went to $100/month.
All those extra salaries to send monthly bills and upgrade meters to electronic readings. We still get estimated bills.
Don’t we all feel privileged. Now add the storm water management fee on our property tax bills. This was supposed to specifically last for 30 years and then drop off. The storm water management system has not been upgraded. Areas of town continue to flood and we all still pay this endless limited time fee.
I live in West Chester and the water is provided by Butler County. My water bill is $25 a month for a family of two with very frequent use of washing machine and water for cooking and doing dishes.
Same. West Chester resident paying ~$25 per month even with fairly heavy water usage.
I was paying almost triple that in Mason with GCWW before I moved to West Chester.
Roughly same. Two people, long shower takers, but don't bother watering the lawn or anything. Shocked to see 70+ appears to be the standard everywhere around us.
Yea pretty sure that $240 is the minimum charge. I think we have extra high rates because we pay “rent” to MSD for their infrastructure or some stupid shit like that.
~$70/month - 2 person household and we do a lot of gardening so there's some use for that, but we also have a high efficiency washer and dishwasher so maybe that accounts for less use.
Also need to be aware that they charge for sewage and used to base that on winter useage.
We’re in Green Township and pay about $55 a month - we have a septic tank though, so no sewage payment. And this is with daily baths for toddler, a hella laundry, and sprinkler use to water trees.
Also GCWW I pay roughly $110 a month in deer park which is insane! My parents who have a pool and live in clermont county pay roughly 1/4 of what I pay in a year.
You should look at your bill a bit closer to see what is making up your bill. A lot of cities that use GCWW add on other charges, such as waste collection. Are you being charged extra for waste collection on your water bill?
Sewer charges are also higher in the city and older suburbs because Cincy's sewers are much older and costlier to maintain than the newer and smaller systems in the suburbs.
I live in Silverton and paid $107 for March. $15.25 was for waste collection. $8.50 was for water base charge, and $37.35 was for sewer base charge. If I hadn't used a single drop of water, then I still would have paid about $61. Your base charges may be much higher which is why your overall bill is higher. It might not be because of a water leak.
Those charges are not charged by the month, but rather per day. You may have had a different number of days in your billing cycle than me.
If there were only 27 days in your billing cycle, then those base rates will be 10% lower compared to a billing cycle that had 30 days. If your billing cycle has 33 days, then you can expect a 10% increase over a bill that had only 30 days.
Mt lookout - two of us in a 1.5 bathroom house with a dog. I usually hover about $60-65/mo., goes up to maybe 70-80 in the summer as I water the lawn front and back once or twice a week depending on rain.
Yeah. $80-100 every 3 months is what I pay in Union Township, Clermont County for a single-family home. It has definitely increased over the last year.
I lived in Clermont County in Milford and had about an $85 per quarter water bill as a family of 4. Family of 5 now in Sycamore and we’re $110-ish per month
If you had a leak, you would know it. We had an underground leak in our main (on our side of the meter, of course) and the water pressure did not change, we simply consumed more water. MUCH more. Our water bill quadrupled. And our sump pump became unusually busy.
I'm on Cincinnati water and it's around $100-$120 a month. That's with 2 teenagers who like to take 30 minute showers and a swimming pool that needs topped up fairly often in the summer.
Down in ft Thomas. My water and sewer are two different bills (threw me off when I first got here). My water usage has a minimum of 49.46 each month and with five people in my house I’ve rarely had it go above that. Sewer can vary but is usually about $100 per quarter.
I have Clermont country water right now and was paying about $30 per month until last fall where it jumped to $100 per month. We are only two people but we do a lot of laundry
I should add - I watch this somewhat closely. Our bill was pretty high last winter compared to previous years. We had a toilet that "ran" constantly. My bf replaced a part to fix that and the water bill came back to normal range. It was eye opening to see how something that seemed minor really jacked up my bill. Can you access water bills for that address before you moved there? It might help you to compare and see if it's out of trend. Check all faucets and toilets, washing machine and any outside hoses for leaks.
Normally about 80-90$ a month on the west side. Larger family though, 6 of us. As others have stated, sewage costs are usually the larger portion of the bill instead of the actual water costs.
Family of 4, GCWW, our bills went down from $100+/month to $40-50/month after we found and addressed a leak at the meter. However, we have a septic tank, so we're water-only, not sewer.
It’s because of the EPA settlement with Metropolitan Sewer District over our illegally combined storm/sewer system, which would cost too much to fix so MSD has to fix individual residences and businesses on a per unit basis and charge everyone the expenses.
Google EPA MSD Cincinnati.
It may suck but believe me it sucks more if raw sewage is backing up into your basement every time it rains and you’re on the hook for a $20k backflow preventer installation.
My wife and I pay Northern Kentucky Water District about $110 /3 months and to be honest I don't feel like it's ever really affected by significant more water use in the summer from watering gardens daily and more showering. Up from about $93 /3 months in 2020 so I'm not really mad at it.
In Anderson and my baseline is nearly $170 a month regardless of usage. Most recent bill was $210. I moved from Batavia 4 years ago and my rate there was so much cheaper. Like $80 every 3 months.
Gone from $70-75 2 years ago, now it's $80-$90
* now the clowns want to sell off the public water to some private company lol. Get ready for $150+ if it ever happens
I was paying like 75 a month in a townhome but they changed it so we don’t pay any more. For the first year and a half it was about 75-90. 25-30 per person 3 people total. 90 for 3 months is wild
I pay about 110.00 for a family of 3.5. The half is because my adult son come home to do laundry instead of using a public laundry mat. Yeah, Hamilton county will cost you more. It's a messed up system. The county of Hamilton takes care of the operations, but billing and offices is run by City of Cincinnati. I'm sure we are paying for the repetition of services.
That’s about on par what we were paying in Deer Park. When we moved to Symmes, we got part of Warren County Water and Sewage and it’s something like $75/month. Granted we have to maintain a water softener now but still.
Anderson here, with 4 person house. 2 kids in prime need to shower range. Monthly bill is regularly ~$90 a month. That includes rental of giant recycle bin
It’s because of the City sewer charges. Cinci’s sewer system is massively outdated and they’re doing projects to improve it. When I was in Harrison, still with GCWW it was only about $30/month including some yard watering and hot tub usage. In Northside it was $55 before I even moved in and started using water.
With all the water in the off position at your house, go and look at your meter. There is a small triangle usually red in color that spins when water is being used. (You can run water and watch it spin to verify)
This triangle measure in very small amounts and takes many spins for it to flip one of the numbers. If it is consistently moving with all the water off, then that is showing a dribble somewhere.
You can also compare water bills from past to current. Note the amount of water usage, and the cost per cubic foot.
Buddy has a family of five in SE Indiana and their’s is $300 a month for water and sewer…in a town that is about as shitty as you’ll find in America. It’s outrageous. The town council doubled their rates and they answer to no one but themselves. Theory is money is going into some personal pockets but there is nothing people can do about it.
Edit to add he said they use the average amount for a family their size, it’s just what the town charges them for water. Apparently several people in the town have had theirs shut off now for nonpayment. It’s a fucking third world country.
That’s about right for water and sewage. If you look at your bill, your sewage charge is probably about double your actual water charge.
GCWW, 3 bed house on the west side ~$60-$80 per month
Same, I float around $70 on the west side
Same! $60-$80
Damn! I’m in a 3 bedroom house in Westwood and we are at $125 a month. We have fish tanks. Ugh
It’s only 2 of us living in our house and I try to be pretty conservative with the water just to save money. I don’t have anything using water besides typical dishes, laundry, showering, etc
Same! West sider with a water bill averaging around 70 a month.
Clermont County is cheap because water infrastructure improvements are massively underfunded compared to the other areas. The rest of the metro area pays more because they fund more projects and more expensive upgrades. That's the super short explanation for cost difference you have noticed.
I live in Miami Township and pay approx. $28 every 2 months. We still have septic tanks so there's no sewer charge. Could that be the difference?
For sure.
I never use more than the minimum charge. Mine is $58ish a month and I live alone.
Also under GCWW, ~$80/month.
Im also in anderson, and mine is about $80 for a small house and family of 3. $100 sounds about right to me, unless we're both getting shafted lol
Anytime a tax has a time limit it's complete BS. It is a forever tax.
GCWW, west side and we’re around $80 a month. Family of 4 and two big dogs.
Does that include sewer? GCWW bill in Anderson would include sewer too which is going to be the majority of the bill.
Yes it includes sewer.
Mine is ~$35/month (~$15 is sewer fees) for a family of 3 in West Chester
One of the reasons I miss living in West Chester 😪
Well dang, I'm at $60-75/month so now I wonder if mine is too high! That is with sewer and water.
I'm in west chester as well. Bill is about $40 a month for a family of 4 heavy water users.
Roughly same. Two people, long shower takers, but don't bother watering the lawn or anything. Shocked to see 70+ appears to be the standard everywhere around us.
Don’t even bring it up. We get hosed here in Norwood. I pay $240 a quarter.
I mean, that’s about on par with what most of us are posting on here. $80/month x3.
I’m a family of one tho. Neighbors who have bigger households have much bigger bills.
Oof, yeah I gotcha. That is rough.
Yea pretty sure that $240 is the minimum charge. I think we have extra high rates because we pay “rent” to MSD for their infrastructure or some stupid shit like that.
Same, family of 1, small house, 240.45 for my last bill and 236.85 for the previous.
Im also a family of one. In west Chester it’s about $25 a month.
I’ll trade you for Indian Hill Water Works - outrageous
On septic, have Indian Hill Water. My most recent quarterly bill for 12/1-3/1 was $106.
Yeah it's the sewage that has gone crazy now that i look at my bill a bit more closely.
Agree! Mine is about 280
I pay $70 every other month in a 4 bedroom house.
Mine is always a little over $100
~$70/month - 2 person household and we do a lot of gardening so there's some use for that, but we also have a high efficiency washer and dishwasher so maybe that accounts for less use. Also need to be aware that they charge for sewage and used to base that on winter useage.
When I bought a new washer last year my monthly water bill went down 10 dollars. Same for the dishwasher.
We’re in Green Township and pay about $55 a month - we have a septic tank though, so no sewage payment. And this is with daily baths for toddler, a hella laundry, and sprinkler use to water trees.
GCWW in Anderson. $90-100 just about every month.
Green township, $60 per month for 2 adults. 3 bed, 1.5 bath
Also GCWW I pay roughly $110 a month in deer park which is insane! My parents who have a pool and live in clermont county pay roughly 1/4 of what I pay in a year.
90 and I live alone. It’s absurd. I’ve had them out to check and they say everything is correct meter wise.
What was it ten years ago when the WW changed quarterly and the bill was about $90-100. Now it’s almost that much monthly.
You should look at your bill a bit closer to see what is making up your bill. A lot of cities that use GCWW add on other charges, such as waste collection. GCWW sucks. That's the long and short of it. Clermont and Butler county are both way cheaper. Not sure about Warren.
When I lived in Mason (Warren county) they used GCWW
$80/month here as well. I’ve been between 70-80 for the last decade plus.
Mt lookout - two of us in a 1.5 bathroom house with a dog. I usually hover about $60-65/mo., goes up to maybe 70-80 in the summer as I water the lawn front and back once or twice a week depending on rain.
GCWW here in NW area by 275. 2 people in a 4 br house and our last bill was $60 for a month
Yeah. $80-100 every 3 months is what I pay in Union Township, Clermont County for a single-family home. It has definitely increased over the last year.
$60/month.
Gwcc - Blue Ash. My house is less than 900 sq ft and my monthly bill is anywhere from $50-80.
We live in Pleasant Ridge with a family of 5. Our's is usually between 70 and 90.
I lived in Clermont County in Milford and had about an $85 per quarter water bill as a family of 4. Family of 5 now in Sycamore and we’re $110-ish per month
$35/month. It’s flat rate
150 for 3 months of water. 50 per month for sewer
Sounds about right. We were around $120 per month with GCWW and around $120 every other month with Clermont Co.
Family of 5 in Anderson. That’s on par with what we pay.
If you had a leak, you would know it. We had an underground leak in our main (on our side of the meter, of course) and the water pressure did not change, we simply consumed more water. MUCH more. Our water bill quadrupled. And our sump pump became unusually busy.

I'm in Mt. Washington and it's usually 75-85 at the most. Family of 3.
Franklin, live alone, usual bill for water/sewage is around $70/month
GCWW 3 people $70-90 per month
My 2 bedroom apartment is about 40-50 bucks a month
Northern Ky $50 a month. 3 bedroom house
Clermont County has the cheapest water and sewer rates around.
Between 40 and 60 a month. The 60 end is in the summer from yardwork and power washing things. I am in Butler County.
I should add - I watch this somewhat closely. Our bill was pretty high last winter compared to previous years. We had a toilet that "ran" constantly. My bf replaced a part to fix that and the water bill came back to normal range. It was eye opening to see how something that seemed minor really jacked up my bill. Our full GCCW bill is usually around $90. That includes Rumpke which is like $22 I think.
60-80 a month
Combined bill - it’s average $15 water, $40 sewage so $65. 2 adult household in Hyde Park.
My wife and I live in Harrison and our utility bill usually comes in around 65 or so, but I think it also covers our trash collections too
It’s because of the EPA settlement with Metropolitan Sewer District over our illegally combined storm/sewer system, which would cost too much to fix so MSD has to fix individual residences and businesses on a per unit basis and charge everyone the expenses. Anderson here too - i think my bill was $90 this month. Not unusual
Mine is around $100/mo. for family of 3, Cincinnati WW. If I water a lot in the summer, it might go to $140 or $150 for a couple of months.
My wife and I pay Northern Kentucky Water District about $110 /3 months and to be honest I don't feel like it's ever really affected by significant more water use in the summer from watering gardens daily and more showering. Up from about $93 /3 months in 2020 so I'm not really mad at it.

College hill. 4 bedroom. Water bill is always around 90-97 dollars
Cinti water works - 125 a month (3 people) But we have a 2 family within the same water district - 5 people and it’s generally around 250
After reading these, I am happy to be on a cistern. Prices for water have gotten crazy.
I'm usually between $60-70 and I live alone
It costs a bunch in Hamilton County. Yours seems pretty cheap, actually.
I would say moving from Clermont to Hamilton County - your water bill would go up significantly. I’m not sure it should be that much.
$10 difference over three months = $3.33 more per month. Post to Reddit? Why not!
$80 every three weeks to have 2000 gallons hauled to my house. Living with a cistern sucks.
$10 difference over three months = $3.33 more per month. Post to Reddit? Why not!
GCWW, about 80$/month for a 2 people, 2 pet, 1.5 bath household.
Gone from $70-75 2 years ago, now it's $80-$90 * now the clowns want to sell off the public water to some private company lol. Get ready for $150+ if it ever happens
Mines 60-80 every 3 months but I don't have sewage. As we have septic.

Anderson, 2bd 2bath 2 humans 2 dogs 1 pool $90-$100/month
25ish a month Eastgate
$75-$90 average for my GCWW monthly bill
I live alone in a 3bd house and I paid $45 this month
I’m in Hamilton township and I pay $34 a month for two of us.
Glendale, Ohio. Family of 3. Our bill is almost $200 a month, and I take 5 minute showers. Be thankful
Madeira. 4 bedroom. 300 a quarter.
$55 for water and about $50 for sewer...Warren County
That’s about on par what we were paying in Deer Park. When we moved to Symmes, we got part of Warren County Water and Sewage and it’s something like $75/month. Granted we have to maintain a water softener now but still.
Four people in my four bed, two full bath house. We average $125/mo.
Anderson here, with 4 person house. 2 kids in prime need to shower range. Monthly bill is regularly ~$90 a month. That includes rental of giant recycle bin
I moved from Amelia to Anderson a year ago and still don’t understand how 1 person household jumped from $30/months to 90/month in Anderson.
Snoop Dog High
IHWW - $115-125 a quarter.
It’s because of the City sewer charges. Cinci’s sewer system is massively outdated and they’re doing projects to improve it.
