Oh, it absolutely never happened but it's still funny and I'm not mad at people who repost it. There's always a new generation of people who haven't seen it. I introduced someone to the numa numa guy a couple weeks back.
Step 1: Come up with a fake story.
Step 2: Fabricate some kind of photo or video evidence.
Step 3: Come up with a clever title.
Step 4: Post your fake story with the fabricated photo or video evidence under the clever title.
Step 5: Gain a lot of Reddit karma.
I’m with both of you. So what if it’s a repost. Keep scrolling. Not everyone spend their entire life on Reddit and has seen every post. I thought this was hilarious.
As somebody who’s bilingual in Spanish, not every American realizes that. And I’m white. People seem to think that my skin color means I’ll be on THEIR side when they whine about “learn English before coming here, so I don’t have to feel bad about not wanting to learn another language!” That last part was imagined by me, but it’s usually the sentiment. Never mind that English is REALLY hard to learn. Every grammar rule has bastard children that cancels the rule.
It's not about not feeling bad about not learning another language. Ive been to France and they've told me to learn French as well. It's just xenophobia
Just curious - if there's a video of an american tourist/expat in Japan walking around going 'does anyone here speak english?' and not being able to communicate with anyone - don't you think that person is a bit of a dick and could learn a few basic phrases rather than expecting everyone to understand them?
So doesn't this respect go both ways?
There’s a difference between being a tourist and having to leave your native country suddenly. Like I said, IF this post is true, OOP simply could’ve been practicing their Spanish. The majority of the older generation are happy to help you with your foreign language, in my experience.
I teach English as a second language and English to adult language learners. My typical approach is to understand the other language compositions, verb noun agreement etc. And explain their composition compared to English, English is a bit of what i call a "murplerp" language there are some contradictions but that's common in all languages. The thing about English is its stale and rigid (not much flexibility, kinda straight foward) in its phonetics. That's the Germania in it LoL, modern English is a hybrid language. To me it's a trade language like swahili, borrowing many words from other languages.
Imo The xenophobia Is rooted in jealousy, and the hate for second language learners is embedded in some cultures. After all the Indo-European goal was/is to whipe put indegenoius language.
depends on how you view it i guess, in this scenario the person tweeting wasn't trying to be racist, just an innocent story that they found funny but sure it wasn't necessary to include race
Maybe I'm missing something here, but aren't the ability to speak English and the ability to walk with broken legs completely different? As in one is possible and the other one isn't?
It might've been quick, but witty? It just sounds like bullying to me. Which might be warranted if someone is being racist, but it's not a clever comeback.
Sooo, she can speak English but chooses not to but the old bitch in the wheelchair with legs that don't work is wrong? This is reddit propaganda I've seen reposted many times. Wake up reddit, this is probably a Russian or Chinese govt worker posting this shit over and over to deepen the divide. They are winning on reddit. Yes, she is wrong with what she said, but the metaphor is some seriously weak bullshit that only echo chamber redditors believe.
…why is that first part so unbelievable? I chat in Spanish with other people all the time. Just because somebody CAN speak English, doesn’t mean they’re always comfortable with it. OOP could be practicing their own Spanish with a native speaker.
Skeptical white redditers are something else. It's so obvious there are so many of you here. Maybe you have never said this to anyone speaking Spanish or seen it happen before but I most definitely have. Not that hard to be clever on the spot if this happened to you many times before. Yes, casual racism happens all the time in America. Maybe not to you, but it doesn't mean it never happens.
I will never get used to people calling ghr US America, like bish there's like 90% of other countries south of there, and all of them are in America, *the continent*.
Well, I suppose this is just me being petty as a southamerican person, don't mind me
Well it’s because it’s the United States of America. I think shortening to “America” makes a lot of sense. “The Americas” represent north and South America as a whole. If I were from Brazil I would call myself Brazilian and if I were referencing my continent I would be South American. If I’m from Canada Canadian and North American. If I’m from the United States of America my ethnicity is American and I’m from North America.
I can’t think of any better way that they could have referred to the ethnicity. United Statesian?
In the English-speaking world they're the Americas. To me this makes more sense than considering them one continent while Eurasia is arbitrarily split along some mountains.
Still, "USA" is a much better name than "America", which needlessly confuses some folks. I also like the term "Usonian" as a demonym but I doubt that'll ever really catch on.
I swear, some disabled people act like they own the world just because they are “special.” One day those people will mess with the wrong guy and he’s gonna knock you off your wheelchair and take your phone, and then you dead
I’ve got one that actually happened. My friend’s Mexican American boyfriend was driving through the south and stopped at a gas station. He doesn’t speak Spanish and doesn’t have the Mexican American cultural accent, but when he went to buy his stuff inside, the white clerk said she couldn’t understand him because she didn’t speak Mexican.

Farts
Just about as meaningful as regular tweets.
Take my upvote and away with you.
Craig Ferguson used to have Tweets on "Ass Möde" on his Late Late Show.
like a queath but from the back
The Gen Z's think this tweet is new still. Probably making TikToks about it as we speak.
is this the 15th anniversary of this never happening?

Idk, doesn't seem that unrealistic. Then again I grew up in the poor inner-city, you hear banter like this all the time.

Like this happened
Step 1: Come up with a fake story. Step 2: Fabricate some kind of photo or video evidence. Step 3: Come up with a clever title. Step 4: Post your fake story with the fabricated photo or video evidence under the clever title. Step 5: Gain a lot of Reddit karma.
Step 6: don't forget to repost it years later
Wait, isn't step 4 profit?? Why so many steps?!
Economy is shit. More work, same pay.
Don't forget. The story HAS to have an eeevulll wite person since we're on Reddit.
As this post shows, you don't even need photo or video evidence.
Ah yes reposting a post that is as old as the internet
to be fair its my first time seeing it, good post even if it isn't original
Mine, too! It's more annoying hearing people whine about reposts than seeing them.
I’m with both of you. So what if it’s a repost. Keep scrolling. Not everyone spend their entire life on Reddit and has seen every post. I thought this was hilarious.
The story is probably older than the internet
Telling someone being mexican is the same as being disabled isn’t really the flex they think it is

And Albert Einstein was that cute little Mexican girl!
Why is “white” needed here?
to show that she was discriminating against the other lady in the story
Wouldn’t it be discrimination no matter what race the lady was tho?? Race is not needed.

Ableism to own the racists. Is this praxis?

Yeah, the only possible explanation for reposting shit is bots, no one ever reposts for karma. What a fucking joke.
You’re in America, why don’t you speak Cree, Iroquoian, Wakashan, Utian, Zuni…………… Entitled zhaaganaash.
Because we won.
Won what?
Our country.
Through slavery and genocide.
And?
You act like they didn't do that to themselves as well.
bruh that sounds like a made up story. woulda been cool if it did happen but i doubt it did

Spanish is also an imported language... from spain, in europe...

Cringe energy
Used all of my non-cringe energy seducing your mother
Into necrophilia, too. Spicy.
Shit that was dark
She was surprisingly wet for a corpse
You must've dripped some sweat onto her ashes.
I think I might have the wrong person because I fucked a whole corpse recently. The last time I fucked ashes was when we were in quarantine
A whole corpse? You've moved on from partial corpses... Is a congrats in order?
No, I already had a celebratory session (Just for any idiots reading this, it’s a joke)
What did you just call me??
Nah. Decent folks would defend helpless folks from a savage.

Because not speaking a language is EXACTLY the same as having a severed spinal cord. ESH
And then they all clapped so hard, just clapped so so hard
Perfect!
Ah, so being Mexican *is* a disability.
I suspect a repost bot, somewhat irrelevant title and new account Edit: I'm also sure you saw this image 66 times before
