The bots in TF2 literally committed scams for "anticheat" and spammings of foul website links in the chatbox The C&C franchise might be dried out from content, but atleast it's peaceful

Shushishtok

>The C&C franchise might be dried out from content Official content, yes. But community mods are so plenty that you could spend 10 years playing the best mods each game has to offer and you wouldn't come close. Mental Omega for example, by itself, has over 80 missions to play. It's so big that it even has its own custom faction. We don't need EA to satisfy our C&C, the community does it so well by itself.

Sypnosis_owo

Mental Omega feels like a separate game like sheesh the lore is amazing

Monkeydud64

I haven't been able to figure out getting it downloaded and running and at this point am just afraid to in fear of running my computer:c

Shushishtok

You can go to the official website where they have a download page: http://mentalomega.com/index.php?page=download You download the 3.3.0 version first, install it, then download the patch to 3.3.6. **Note:** you MUST have a valid, legal copy of Red Alert 2 and Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge. Pirated versions will not work since they're doing some checks when you run it. If you don't have it, you can buy it from either Origin or Steam. If you have some issues getting it to install, see this page for common issues and their solutions: https://mentalomega.com/index.php?page=issues If you are still unable to get it to work, your best bet would be to go to the Mental Omega discord and request assistance there. The link is in the MO website. Enjoy!

Monkeydud64

Maybe I'll give it one more shot! I did just get it on steam again! My previous version was on the EA app (I know we aren't supposed to use emoji here but seriously 🤮)

Shushishtok

Haha, yeah. I don't mind the EA app because once you download the games and put a shortcut to running it, it never launched the EA app again. Got the entire collection for 2 dollars at some sale, it was crazy worth it.

[deleted]

Mental omega update : FMV being added and foehn campaign added soon official speeder website

Shushishtok

Whoa, seriously? FMVs might be one hell of a production increase for the campaign.

[deleted]

Shushishtok

Not gonna lie, that shit's hype as heck!

StickyHoovy

Yez

MaybeAdrian

At least our bot problem was fixed at the end of firestorm.

Rare_Reality7510

From GDI's perspective, Kane immediately started it again with LEGION.

No_Research4416

I do hope it will be followed up in the next game if EA decides to do something with this IP

FloatingDutchie

On one hand, I want a new c&c game. On the other hand, EA is probably gonna screw it up again.

MrTibbz2

Very true. Honestly I'm just waiting until the day that either ea abandons the IP or releases something, and being sad until then. Why do they even have the IP since they've done nothing with it?

MaybeAdrian

Who knows what tricks could have the GDI for the next game

CABALwasInnocent

HEY, NOT COOL MAN. I DO ACTUALLY HAVE FEELINGS YOU KNOW.

ShadowAze

I can respect the optimism from the TF2 community, they want their game to get fixed and improved. Here? There's a fair amount of people that don't want any game as long as it has EA's name on it. They hoped that the games post RA2 to fail and those people have grown with every subsequent release. The games weren't even bad until Tib 4, do these people even like C&C? I question about that sometimes. It's also telling by the way people view the parent companies. Valve made only a few entries for most if not all of their IPs. They barely make games, are more focused on mtx and pretty much neglect almost all of their games. People *still* love Valve. Some might give it shit, but it's only temporary and it feels almost unenthusiastic at times. People still vehemently hate EA (I mean it's deserved for the most part, I'm just criticizing the double standards), and call them the worst company (I wouldn't call them good but I'd argue Activision and Ubisoft are many times worse).

imthatguy8223

C&C4 may suck or be [redacted] but at least it’s some closure. Half Life never even got close to that despite the overwhelming demand for it.

Timothycw88

Here's the thing. As a game, C&C4 could have worked. I liked the gameplay and found it enjoyable. The issue is they chose to make it a C&C game. The moment C&C was slapped onto it, it was doomed. Doesn't matter how fun the gameplay is, it shifts so drastically from the rest of the franchise that there was no way it would be accepted. It could have had masterful writing and flawless gameplay mechanics, and it would still be hated for how much it changed from the rest of the C&C games. It should have been released as a new IP instead of part of the C&C franchise.

ShadowAze

I do recall gameplay and story issues which would've made it a sort of mid game even without the C&C IP. Lame writing and ending especially, kind of lame campaign mission design, the always online, needing to level up to unlock more arsenal, no scrin (both in story and in gameplay, like didn't they prepare for a full scale invasion?), only nod vs gdi and no mix and match in the skirmish mode, very snowball-y game too, a lack of variety for gamemodes as I think it would've benefited a lot from more varied gamemodes. Probably more I can't remember, but I'd prefer it being a polarizing C&C game which was really good but didn't feel like c&c instead of what we got.

Timothycw88

I still actively play because I enjoy the gameplay. There's actually plenty of active players for matches and such. Like I said in my post, my only complaint is that it's C&C instead of a new IP. I've had plenty of people tell me that it could have been a masterwork of gameplay and story and they still would have given it a 0 out of 10 because of the gameplay changes. You're the first person to tell me you would have liked it if it had better gameplay and/or story despite the change in gameplay style, that's just not a sentiment I've heard before.

ShadowAze

It's just how I view things. I view them at the fundamental and mechanical levels. I thought about this a lot a few years ago and it all just seems so silly. There's so many games with so many spinoffs and subgenres, it's hard to keep track of. I judge based off the core aspects of it, but I play based off what I feel. Sometimes I play the more tank spammy RA2 and 1, sometimes I play the more micro intensive RA3. It's definitely a gateway to enjoying a lot material out there. It's kind of like enjoying movies which are so bad they're good. I definitely would've liked Tib4 had it not be for the reasons I've already mentioned, that criteria is my opinion however and it's cool people still enjoy the game. I defend RA3 a lot mostly because a lot of criticism seems blatantly unfair towards it, with a lot of it coming of as petty, minor or like wishlist criticism. However I must admit that it's very different from its predecessors, it probably would've been a good thing if it excluded the three in the title which implied a direct sequel and more faithful gameplay to the first two games. The same recommendation I'd give to Tib4, it being called that gives off the impression that it was more like TW and KW.

Krieger22

> The issue is they chose to make it a C&C game. Well at that point EALA was scrambling for anything vaguely capable of being dressed up and shipped in a DVD case, as Red Alert 3 had been shipped and they had mismanaged everything else into the ground. Turns out occasionally shipping a game *despite* studio leadership catches up with you eventually

Timothycw88

If I had a quarter for every time I've seen changing the gameplay style kill a franchise, I'd have 2 quarters. Which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice. Dawn of War and Command & Conquer.

DruDown007

Lemme throw the ‘Worms’ franchise on there for ya, Brotha. Enjoy your $0.75!

Adaphion

A lot of the units could have worked in a standard C&C game. Yes, even the Crawlers (as long as they were like, a Superunit, instead of a complete MCV replacement). But the gameplay itself just deviated too much, the greedy bastards wanted to try cashing in on the MOBA craze that League had caused and they fumbled it super hard, command and conquer was never meant to be half baked into a MOBA.

Timothycw88

Yeah, like I said. The issue is the deviation in gameplay. I have fun playing it and like games with that style of gameplay. At the very least it should have been marketed and titled as a C&C spinoff (like Renegade) instead of being the next major game in the franchise.

SnuleSnuSnu

Or MCVs could have been crawlers in a way that they are battle capable. RA3 gave us a tanky MCV which can crush tanks and goes on water. Slap some turrets, shields, bunkers and such and you have a new way to play the game, while not losing base building and other things. They could have even made it like Warlords Battlecry games. Your MCV is being kept from game to game where you unlock potential upgrades for it. It could have worked.

imthatguy8223

C&C could definitely be crafted into a MOBA. Theres enough material but 4 wasn’t a MOBA and crashed.

SurpriseFormer

I feel like these days. The crown of the most hated game company has long since left EAs head. Currently it's a toss between Activision and Ubi. With some wild cards every now and then

WhirledNews

The tide is turning on Valve, they really fucked up TF2 and are well on their way to doing the same thing with CS2.

MindControlledSquid

What happened?

WhirledNews

The game is buggy as hell, hit registration is bad, they switched from 128 tick to sub tick, the net code sucks, cheating is extremely common, VAC is all but non existent, no new maps, no new operations. On top of all that, their “updates” consist of one or two minor issues (which should have been fixed long ago or changing things to make them worse somehow) and they are more focused on adding things to the market than actually improving the game.

MindControlledSquid

Ah, so the classic death spiral of an online game. Stopped playing World of tanks years ago, when it went down that path.

BioClone

Its a game with 15 years... ironically was released the year of CnC3... do we have official servers for Tib Wars? or now it relays on the comunity?

FreedomWedgie

"Whats that? You want ANOTHER MOBILE GAME? Sure thing!"

FloatingDutchie

Please, God, No!

Electric-Mountain

I'm excited Age of Mythology is getting a remake, it was one of the RTS games I played as a kid along the CNC games.

Bearded_Wisdom

Same. AoM and Generals were the business.

WiggyWamWamm

I heard they were stopping the project and turning it in a mobile free-to-play title (I kid)

Electric-Mountain

Unfortunately when the Xbox showcase was happening a ton of people were calling it a mobile game not knowing it's a remake of a 20 year old game. It's sad to see really.

Mundane_Parfait2560

Atleast command and conquer are able to count 1 to 3.

PedroThePinata

CaC is owned by EA, which has a reputation of not giving a single fuck what their consumers want. TF2 is owned by Valve, which has a much better reputation and generally cares about keeping it.

MammothUrsa

4 was attempt more for esports game since ra3 and Tiberium wars and kanes wrath were getting views, but not enough for EA there is still casters and community is alive. Maybe we might get ra2 and tiberium sun + there respective dlc remaster this decade however EA seems to be trying to get more of that mobile money since i don't know the amount of player base on there other mobile game or browser based tiberium alliances they did can the developers of tiberium alliances so they don't got to pay them and hire cheapest contractors to keep it alive. there many on mobile and because some mobile players will spend thousands in a month even if game is lifeless or they spend so much no one can compete against like the case of Diablo immortal however strategy games like what legion is based on. people spend a stupid amount of money some whales will stick around some may leave. I have seen excellent RTS Mobile games with gear games they got art of War 3 is command & conquer esque and they working on warcraft esque mobile game called War legends which has humans elves dwarves vs Orcs undead and goblins however you can download apk if you want to play beta of War legends. Now if we did get another command and conquer I don't know if we will even get live action cutscenes maybe still ai art images knowing how much love EA is giving to command and conquer or they keep slapping command and conquer and on cheap mobile games they aren't developing in house, but outside places. I am sure EA would try to momentize as much as they could of new command and conquer game or try other games with dateing sim where you try to date Kane or Yuri the some of other characters like Tanya or fps looters shooter with vehicles set in the generals universe where you play as gla fighting both other players and pve controlled China and USA while also doing new command & conquer rts games. There is a lot they could do with command conquer, but EA likes to do the bare minimum to keep a hold of LICENSE. It would require serious amount of money to even attempt offer to EA to buy all of it.

UnknownGuyiii

Generals 2 🙏

zzztidurvirus

Agreed. We need more Generals 2. C&C already reaches 4 and RA reaches 3.

Innalibra

I'm fairly certain we'll never get another 'proper' C&C game with EA at the helm. The best we can hope for is remasters.

CalligrapherAlive948

C&C was inherited by its community. It's better off that way because it won't get better, but at least it's left alone. Asking it to be saved is asking for it to be handled by the people that mishandled it to begin with. It doesn't need saving, it's community already saved it.

BoostedbyV

I will be a 5,000.00 $ backer when the time comes

upvoter_1000

Should I start OpenC&C for a modern 3D community project?

D00mdaddy951

You don't need to start it. There are OpenSAGE and Thyme. Just support them.

MedicalIngenuity4283

I think that’s a good idea, all together!

Herr_Keks

Dude inam on both sides aktive that makes man like me very sad :c

neoKushan

I think it's quite obvious what they're doing over there? The same thing we're doing here. Waiting and hoping for more. I think the "[First time](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/james-franco-first-time)" meme would be more appropriate.

Darth_JaSk

Tempest rising looks good so far

Sweet-Ghost007

See you guys on the next stop ( Gamescom 2024)

Links_to_Magic_Cards

ra3 doesnt count

Sc0ner

EA can make more money off a dlc pack for one of their sports games in a month than the CnC franchise has made them since they bought it. We're not getting shit from them

granpappynurgle

No new games. They will be bad.

zigerzigs

Please don't remind EA that we exist. I can't handle another trash, mobile skinner box wearing the skin of C&C.

Sebastian_sins

How dare you tw3 was our golden egg

HaveFunWithChainsaw

RA2 > RA 3 RA1 > RA 3 Tibs > RA 3 Generals > RA 3 C&C > RA 3 Renegade > RA 3 RA 3 < Death of C&C games and Westwood. I'm sorry but EA C&C games just don't have the same charm and feels totally different games. Generals was decent however because it was different, and wasn't playing with the RA and Tibs theme. Fact still remains real C&C died when Westwoods died. Westwoods C&Cs were horrific yet corny way funny, EA C&Cs are silly and dumb way funny, it's like if you compared Counter-Strike Extreme Gore edition to Counter-Striker 4 Kids.

TheEvilWizard

Its joever

Robster881

And we'll do it by review bombing Company of Heroes /S

Any-External-898

Someone definately have to buy c&c and turn it into mmo by adding new maps like community did it in warcraft 3. However the spirit of brutalism, tanks, laser tech, zepllin must be preserved.

kumikanki

I hated the red alert 3..

Raanthur

So you don't hate it anymore?

kumikanki

I have not wasted my time to it since 2010.

SnuleSnuSnu

As someone who likes RA games a lot, I liked it. I like how different factions are and the water element was interesting, plus I liked that all units have some ability. I was sick of tank spamming from previous games. What I hated is too much silly things and too colorful.

ShyFurryGuy96

Cant save it if its dead already

[deleted]

RA3 is not good. Red alert 2 is the series high point.

Old_Bug4395

Honestly I want absolutely no part of the way modern gaming communities act when they want something. I don't know anything about this TF2 situation, but if I had to guess, people are being absolutely insane about it, and I'm happy with not getting another game if it means I don't have to witness people on the internet acting like petulant children about a video game. Not to mention, with the recent track record of gamers complaining about things, what would probably happen is EA would remove access to every CnC game that currently exists and blacklist the IP even harder than they already have

RaymondLuxury-Yacht

It's funny because TF2 is basically the equivalent to the newer C&C games to me because I thought they ruined the Team Fortress franchise after dropping the original vision for TFC2 and opting for the weird Toy Story-esque TF2 that we ended up with. The original TFC2 was supposed to be a lot more like a mash-up between Quake and Battlefield 2.

BeginningAwareness74

Ra 3 was not my jam. I don't want RTS with goofy characters and cartoon stuff, I barely endure RA 2 goofy stuff because the game in itself was perfect beside that.

Shushishtok

Agreed. I only didn't like how in RA3 every unit had an active ability. Managing your army is hard enough even without having to "deploy" specific units every time.

scanguy25

Command and conquer generals? Or was it before RA3?
