It is sad to see beloved characters go, but that is real life. :) This episode was very good, and is really a turning point for Abed, IMHO. I'm happy the show continued and I enjoyed the remaining seasons. Now looking forward to the TV movie.
If you're interested, he'd been making music long before he was on Community, he did a whole bunch of mix tapes. He also did a whole bunch of screwy alternative theme songs with Derrick Comedy for children's shows not to mention releasing one full track on their site called "Ass like da Taj Mahal". He started using Childish Gambino a year before Community in 2008 when he released the Sick Boi mixtape.
As for the episode, I always felt that aside from Advanced Introduction to Finality (which doesn't deserve a mention alongside this episode and the others), it was the weakest of the campus wide games/activities. Feels a bit too rushed maybe? I dunno, somethings off with it for me. Still a good episode, but not Pillows and Blankets good.

yes. it was season 5. pretty much the whole season was rushed and half assed.
I’m about to hyper obsessively rave about this episode!!! My favorite aspects:
1) They foreshadow Troy leaving in the S5E01 when Abed says Zach Braff was only in the first six episodes of season 9 in scrubs, and Troy yells: ***AFTER EVERYTHING SCRUBS DID FOR HIM?!*** Then Troy is only in the first six episodes of season 5 😭
2) They also do a call back to season 1 when they play “come sail away” as troy and LeVar are driving away. I think it’s S01E09 when Abed posts his “psychic films” on the website. Troy sees his character crying and said, “Oh no! Did I accidentally listen to ‘Come Sail Away’ by The Styx again?!” It just made Troy’s exit and wrap up of his character so fkn beautiful
3) “Sorry about our butts touching.”
4) The improvised hand shake Britta and Hickey do when he -knocks- on her fist bump 😂
5) ***WHO’S THERE?! FLOOR BITCH!!!! FLOOOOOOOR!!***
The first time I watched the episode, I thought the sendoff was bittersweet - everyone would miss him but Troy was going on an adventure!
