This episode completely sucked out any enjoyment I could have had with the Black Mirror episode. The entire time while I was watching it, I just exclaimed 'This is just meowmeowbeanz!'
Oh yeah, definitely! I enjoyed that one even though I watched the community episode. The Black Mirror episode though felt like just a more serious rehash of meow meow beans
Boost used to run on a network called IDEN that let you do "push to talk", which is what drug dealers liked about it. Hasn't been the case for many years now
I remember introducing a friend to Tim and Eric back in the day, and he insisted Eric and Brian Posehn were the same guy. Argued aggressively with me about it. Next thing I know, I'm serving 15 to life in San Quentin.
Anyway, I thought this little anecdote might help that other guy feel less alone about his mistake. But they aren't the same dudes.
I have a whole post on here from a few years ago where I defended this episode because people did not like it, they thought it was a lesser concept episode
Given the worst of it was on the weekend, probably just went home.
Before that, I don't know. Maybe there was a special area where the "zeroes" were allowed to quietly do their schoolwork? There's no way everyone swept up in the insanity didn't somehow make it their problem
Boost Mobile is a low-cost cell phone provider. Usually you get an older phone model and limited functionality. Back when this episode came out, that almost certainly meant you were not getting a smartphone.
Although I have no evidence of the connection I have to believe that they said non-Boost Mobile phones because of Acceptable.TV - a show that Dan Harmon was involved with years ago where viewers could vote on which skits would continue using their (clearly sponsored by) Boost Mobile phones.
I’ll never get over the fact that they put Brian Posehn, Steve Agee, and Eric Wareheim in the same episode of television. Those 3 guys must have been so confused to all be there when they’re normally all vying for the same guest spots on every series
I'm with you that the outfits are very Logan's Run. Although there was other 70s sci-fi that combined that Greek aesthetic with the future.
I wouldn't say those outfits are particularly like The Apple. And since combining Egyptian, Greek, Roman, whatever ethos with sci-fi was not an uncommon among sci-fi at the time (nor striking eye makeup) I wouldn't say this is any more The Apple than anything else.
Example of The Apple. Watch out. It's bad.

As you can see the fashion is different.
A long time ago and as a kid so I didn't really pay too much attention. It's pretty dated but people seemed to loke it and it did really well for the time I believe.
It's 70s sci-fi. You get a high concept and some stark sets.
It's better than Silent Running I guess.
But it also wants to be an action movie and, well, any movie before Die Hard that was an action movie did not actually have the pacing you expect from an action movie nowadays. i.e. it's sloooow.
Have you seen Soylent Green or Omega Man? It's like that.
That’s such a two question to ask. Nice going, new beans.
I sure do love dem apples!
Tommy Tuluca?
Tommy talarico
His mother is very proud.
he worked hand in hand with miyamoto on metroid prime I heard
I once loved a 2
I once loved a two.
He was my everything!
I’ll keep your secret new beans
But… Numbers change…
Ah…Matthew……
They went home. It's a Saturday. You're at school for no reason.
This episode completely sucked out any enjoyment I could have had with the Black Mirror episode. The entire time while I was watching it, I just exclaimed 'This is just meowmeowbeanz!'
That episode of The Orville holds up well, where they land on the social media planet and people vote on whether one of them should be executed.
Oh yeah, definitely! I enjoyed that one even though I watched the community episode. The Black Mirror episode though felt like just a more serious rehash of meow meow beans
Having watched that Black Mirror episode and being traumatized by it, it was nice to laugh at my fears with that Community episode lol
Which community episode is that? Just voting pierce out?
Im so glad i saw the black mirror episode first!!!
Sell drugs. Because thats who buys boost mobile phones. Drug dealers.
Starburns mutated into a pit overlord, which is nice.
I think you mean Zardoz
Zardoz is their god. Sean Connery's character (who Starburns is dressed as) is an Eternal named Zed
Zed was a Brutal, not an Eternal.
i didn’t expect zardoz discourse, but i’m here for it
Hey! I have a Boost phone, and it's just a mid range android. Also, I'm a cook. I *buy* drugs, not sell them. 😤
Boost used to run on a network called IDEN that let you do "push to talk", which is what drug dealers liked about it. Hasn't been the case for many years now
I love you drugs!
Don't call me honey, honey.
Pokemon!
That's why I use Boost Infinite. Much more respectable.
“Are you lost’t’two?”
"He's *new* beanz"
I like to believe they formed a fringe society in the air vents, with their own Gods and laws to follow. Just waiting for the right moment to strike.
The real question is how did Britta get the app on her totarola
Her cats put it on for her
Together her cats can do anything
They sure love Apples!
Holy crap, is that Tim and Eric?? Never noticed them in that scene before.
And Jen Kirkmen
They were the ones that introduced the app in the beginning of the episode too
Wrong! See the mustard on my face but listen to my words! The app developers were played by Steve Agee and Brian Posehn.

Posehn was in Spagett and the Search for the Golden Treasure. Eric was not.
This was over I Sit Down When I Pee though.
Ok this is officially the way I’m akshualling people in this sub. You get five beans new beans
Really? I swear they were the same people but it's been a long time since I saw that episode so my blondness might be interfering with my memory
What are they? Totorola?
Picked up a pack of Totorolas for the weekend.
My favourite episode, by far.
I agree. The dean saying "My meowmeowbeanz" in a sad voice plays in my head on repeat.
Literally any time I get a downvote of any sort on any platform I think that.
I have a whole post on here from a few years ago where I defended this episode because people did not like it, they thought it was a lesser concept episode
Omg is that Steven one of Medusa’s snakes I see?
Banished to the wastelands, obvi.
Given the worst of it was on the weekend, probably just went home. Before that, I don't know. Maybe there was a special area where the "zeroes" were allowed to quietly do their schoolwork? There's no way everyone swept up in the insanity didn't somehow make it their problem
Boost mobile users don't *get* a rhyme because they're **garbage**
Clearly they were in the Outlands. No beans is worse than being a 1.
Those *mindless savages* wonder the wasteland, desperate, hungry... ... hoping for one bar of signal. Pity them.
Probably at home considering it was the weekend for like half that episode
I never thought of that. Somehow, there's a type of person who's *even worse* than a 1.

First time seeing the term too but I guess its the social accepted term for not smart phones
Jen Kirkman!

If you have to ask then you’re streets behind
Season 5 Episode 8 - App Development and Condiments
I’ll never get over the fact that they put Brian Posehn, Steve Agee, and Eric Wareheim in the same episode of television. Those 3 guys must have been so confused to all be there when they’re normally all vying for the same guest spots on every series
They did the BIM.
The homage to Logan’s Run and Zardoz in this episode was epic.
I also really appreciated the reference to Brave New World
How exactly do you describe their costumes, it gives hunger games vibes
Pretty sure it's a direct nod to Logan's Run
More of a direct reference to The Apple. The triangle holograms and the tunics and eyeshadow especially
Havnt heard of that one.

Ok i can see the resemblance, does societly also have a scoring system in that movie?
No, it's mostly aesthetic based here. Logans run is about an presumed indulgent paradise future where you get reincarnated when you turn 30(you dont)
spoilarz
Gotcha, u havent seen it by chance have you? Any good?
A long time ago and as a kid so I didn't really pay too much attention. It's pretty dated but people seemed to loke it and it did really well for the time I believe.
Hmm, interesting. It seems like it might be worth a watch. Always funny seeing what old movies thought the future would be like.

Look at the mustard but hear my words!!!
Went home for the day
Quiet 2s a 5 is speaking.
This is the first time I’ve realized that Tim and Eric are in this episode. How did I not realize this before?!
Probably hid in the shadows and pretended to be a 2 or 3.
They just went about their day and ignored the people dressing weird and acting crazy.
Its my birthday
Its my birthday
What do people with green bubbles do? Kinda just take the joke, or let it get under your skin.
Only 2s and belows know that life
OMG, Tim and Eric (show great job).
Is that Winona Ryder?
Jen Kirkman
