also for the cpu cooler to fit, remove the 2 black brackets

MaharajaTatti

1) what was pc specs before upgrade? 2) what was pc specs after upgrade? 3) does fan spin after upgrade? 4) did you revert to previous specs and try to boot? 5) is power supply local switch on?

Mysterious_Bed_8823

3 no 4 no 5 yes 1 mobo: ASUS P8Q77-M2 cpu: i7 3700 gpu gtx 980. 2 all that’s changed is cpu, ram and mobo. Mobo now is b550-a wifi II and cpu is ryzen 5 5500.

MaharajaTatti

You didn't mention the power supply

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Corsair t-550w.

MaharajaTatti

Did you mean TX550w or T-550w? because I am unfamiliar with the latter. Is it modular or semi-modular? Please check if you connected the CPU power rail (12voltz) to the correct CPU 8pin jack (top left of CPU) I am asking this because the CPU and PCIe(GPU) power are both 8pin but are different voltages and can result in devastating consequences

Kitchen_Part_882

Does that motherboard have the correct BIOS version to support a 5000 series Ryzen? The Asus website should be able to tell you, note that you'll have to borrow or otherwise obtain a supported CPU to allow you to flash it if this is required. I ask because I had to update my MSI B550 BIOS when I upgraded from a Ryzen 9 3900X to my current Ryzen 7 5800x3d.

RandomXUsr

What's an i7 3700? Was it ryzen or intel?

JackPerazzi

3rd picture, it looks like you have cables connected incorrectly: Header 11 - RGB looks to be installed off by 1 pin. Header 17 - Front panel connector looks to be offset up by one row. As it is shown your power button is disconnected and any reset button will be connected to the PWR\_BTN pins. Header 12 - Clear CMOS pins (bottom right running under the unconnected SATA cable) connected to something? Header bank 7 - SATA cable disconnected, has that SATA cable been connected up so that your drive is connected? When something like this happens always double check everything you have worked on and remember to RTFM! edit: added to F\_Panel explanation.

vegansgetsick

you're right it's messed up there

BIKF

OP has a new post up with what looks to be that connector moved from the F\_PANEL header to the USB34 header... [https://www.reddit.com/r/computers/comments/1ds4dfi/help\_with\_pc\_jumpstart/](https://www.reddit.com/r/computers/comments/1ds4dfi/help_with_pc_jumpstart/)

Imaginary_Virus19

How does it not work,? Do the fans spin? Any lights?

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Nope. I think it’s with something isn’t in properly, but I wouldn’t have a clue as to what it is.

failaip13

Did you actually properly plug in the front panel connectors, meaning the power button connector, reset button connector etc.

Mysterious_Bed_8823

I think so yea

failaip13

And this is why you first build it on a motherboard box with minimum hardware connected to check if it all works, and then start building for real. IS your motherboard standing on standoff screws or is it standing and is screwed directly onto the case?

some1_03

Your CPU of choice may be the issue, had a similar experience. Before getting a new CPU, check the motherboard's compatibility list.

Mysterious_Bed_8823

I have. The ryzen 5 5500 is compatible with the b550-a wifi II

Tiranus58

I would say to try updating the bios, but your mobo doesnt support bios flashback from what i can find

EddieTristes

What happens when you push the power button?

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Nothing.

EddieTristes

Absolutely nothing happens? No fans spin, nothing beeps, no lights flash, nothing?

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Yep. There’s this one thing (cable, wire) that’s on the bottom left of my motherboard and it’s not plugged in. I’ve actually never really seen it and it doesn’t seem like it fitted in my old motherboard.

EddieTristes

Can you show what the connector looks like and try to find where it goes to? Feel free to send a dm with photos

MaharajaTatti

Remove both RAM, clean the pins on ram gently with a clean cloth which does not leave lint. THEN only install ONE ram and try to boot

Mysterious_Bed_8823

I just got this ram earlier today. I don’t think it’s the problem

MaharajaTatti

I am asking you to re-seat the ram, it is a troubleshooting method, please do so

MaharajaTatti

And install ram in furthest ram slot DIMM B2

MaharajaTatti

From the picture I can see one of your ram is upside down, now I am unaware if this is a manufacturer kit style or you seated a ram upside down(it's only a guess, I really hope you didn't use force upon your ram)

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Alright

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Didn’t work

ELRayford

Take the jumpers off the clrtc pins. That cable above the sata ports.

Mysterious_Bed_8823

Where’s the clrtc pins and what’s a “jumper”

ELRayford

Page 11 in your manual item number 12 on the image of ur motherboard. Also Page 14 explains what it is. Essentially you are clearing your cmos right now. That small black cable generally shouldn't be plugged into that. I could be wrong but I think this is your issue.

ELRayford

Also look at page 19 and make sure ur ram sticks are in slots a2 and b2.

xGeoDaddyx

did it boot yet?

Blast338

Your ram in is the wrong spots. They need to be in the slots further away from the chip. Gap, ram, gap, ram. Make sure your 12pin is seated correctly, the 8 pin on the top right is in all the way, and the bios is up to date and works for your chip.

vegansgetsick

Re-set the cable for power button

Wise_Quail_1459

The CPU cooler isn't putting correct pressure on the CPU to make proper connections. Replace the original black hooked brackets with the correct brackets that came with the cooler.

Avulsed_76

Try booting with 1 ram. Have same board. It's sounds stupid because it is.

DoraTheExp1orer

I might be blind, but I dont see any storage.

atx_James

Brother if you upgraded your CPU, RAM, and Motherboard that’s not your PC anymore, you just built a new PC in the same case and moved your GPU over to it. There’s a LOT that could have gone wrong, but nothing anyone will be able to tell from photos alone. Check the motherboard for a light, when you power it on, note what color and if the light is flashing or not. If there is no light, it’s a power supply problem (something’s not hooked up to power, or not receiving any for some reason) If they is a light, google search motherboard light + description of which light is on, the color, and if it is blinking. The light is to debug what is wrong and there are charts online for your brand motherboard that will tell what it means

It could be that the pc need a CPU fan to start so try to just plug it in
