At the end credits they should have had a note saying “Sean Bean was not harmed in the making of this film” and at the after credit scene, he commits suicide cause his feelings were hurt.
I think they meant how Robert DeNiro butchered the pronunciation and the fact Sean Bean didn't correct it before they filmed it. Makes me twitch every time.
He's known for dying a lot in movies, but he's not even in the top 10;
10: Mark Hamill - 30 on-screen deaths
9: Bela Lugosi - 36 on-screen deaths
8: Eric Roberts - 38 on-screen deaths
=6: Danny Trejo - 41 on-screen deaths
=6: Lance Henriksen - 41 on-screen deaths
5: Boris Karloff - 42 on-screen deaths
4: John Hurt - 43 on-screen deaths
=2: Vincent Price - 48 on-screen deaths
=2: Dennis Hopper - 48 on-screen deaths
1: Christopher Lee - 70 on-screen deaths
That's according to [this article](https://movieweb.com/actors-with-most-onscreen-deaths/) anyway.
Apparently Danny Trejo has it in his contract that he has to die if he is playing a bad guy, to show that being bad doesn't pay off. Common Danny Trejo W.
Games where Sean Bean has been killed:
* The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, assassinated.
* Civilization VI, [shoot down by enemy aircraft](https://youtu.be/5KdE0p2joJw?si=lWM6X9_td2Ru1WL_&t=110).
* Hitman 2, [stabbed in the eye with a pencil](https://youtu.be/Un2mSm2YjmY?si=_sMPwPDIvyau8Jj9&t=564) (among other).
* Hitman 3 stabbed in the eye with a pencil again (among other).
Don’t think Martin was assassinated, in fact he was the only surviving one and now I feel like starting up TES IV again :(
Edit: he was the only surviving Septim, for a short time lol
Yeah, it was Patrick Stewart who was assassinated.
Sean Bean turned into a dragon god, and that's hardly sportin', and then ascended to Aetherius after sacrificing his life to stop Mehrunes Dagon from manifesting himself on Nirn.
So he survived but not for that long.
My theory is Bean had a karmic debt from playing the lead in Sharpe’s Rifles. Bernard Cornwell characters have a magical ability to survive every major battle of whatever war they happen to be in.
I'm not sure if that's a theory as much as it's just generally accepted fact. I'm sure if you do a tally of on-screen deaths and times Sharpe miraculously survives, it balances out.
During the filming of Jupiter Ascending, our office was in the same building as the film's office in Chicago. We joked about not getting in the elevator with Sean.
I didn't realize just how serious it was. TIL.
Sorry to be a fly in the ointment but he survived numerous assassination attempts, skirmishes, duals and battles in the excellent Sharpe series. That probably cancels out all the demises in the other movies
This is a minor point, and I’m not sure it applies to International English, but in British English there is a distinction between hanged (for people) and hung (for objects). Though I suppose you could argue that if he was killed first, his corpse (and object) would be hung. I’m arguing with myself now.
Nice graphic though!
I'd actually love to see a comparison between Bean and Kyle Chandler. Most of the things I've seen him in (apart from FNL), he also tends to die off pretty early in the movie/series.
He died in Medici. Bean played Jacopo de' Pazzi who was hanged from the walls of Florence.
IRL de' Pazzi's body was dug up from his grave in Santa Croce, thrown in a ditch, dragged through the streets, and propped up at the door of the Palazzo Pazzi, where his head was mockingly used as a door knocker. After that, his body was thrown into the Arno, where it was retrieved by children, hung from a willow tree, flogged, and thrown back into the river.
In Ronin, they just hurt his feelings
Came here for this. By far the worst death was his pride in that one
Except for Jupiter Ascending, where his fate is worse than death: being in that film the entire time
This is my favorite Sean Bean death by far
When I first saw that movie as a kid, I was convince through the whole film, his character was going to come back so he could be killed.
At the end credits they should have had a note saying “Sean Bean was not harmed in the making of this film” and at the after credit scene, he commits suicide cause his feelings were hurt.
Dude should have remembered the color of the boathouse at Hereford
He also was ambushed by a cup of coffee!
Hearford?
Hereford is a city in England that is home to RAF Credenhill which is home to the SAS.
I think they meant how Robert DeNiro butchered the pronunciation and the fact Sean Bean didn't correct it before they filmed it. Makes me twitch every time.
Why would Robert deniro know how to pronounce herringbird?
He wouldn't, but his British costar should have corrected him!
What color is the boat house at Hereford?
How the fuck should I know?
In case anyone is wondering it’s brown brick with some white and blue trim and sits on the bank of the river Wye.
Best thing that ever happened to him. I imagine him reading about the action in the papers in a diner somewhere, and looking over his shoulder….
Bet that one hurt the most.
What color is the boat house in Hereford
How the fuck should I know?
I just assumed he was killed offscreen. Seems like the likely outcome in that line of work.
He's known for dying a lot in movies, but he's not even in the top 10; 10: Mark Hamill - 30 on-screen deaths 9: Bela Lugosi - 36 on-screen deaths 8: Eric Roberts - 38 on-screen deaths =6: Danny Trejo - 41 on-screen deaths =6: Lance Henriksen - 41 on-screen deaths 5: Boris Karloff - 42 on-screen deaths 4: John Hurt - 43 on-screen deaths =2: Vincent Price - 48 on-screen deaths =2: Dennis Hopper - 48 on-screen deaths 1: Christopher Lee - 70 on-screen deaths That's according to [this article](https://movieweb.com/actors-with-most-onscreen-deaths/) anyway.
Yo, Mark Hamill? Another hidden talent of his
Hamil and Sean Bean both die in the movie Sushi Girl
For John Hurt - I wonder if they counted Spaceballs 🤷🏼♂️
Considering he said "not again", my headcanon is that he survived, and then went off to die in spaceballs.
🎶🎶Hello my darlin, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal…..🎶🎶
I’m wondering if they’re counting John Hurt’s Doctor Who regeneration as a death.
I've seen other lists that put Trejo at 72 and Lee at 60. Something is off...
Christopher Lee was technically undead, though.
Apparently Danny Trejo has it in his contract that he has to die if he is playing a bad guy, to show that being bad doesn't pay off. Common Danny Trejo W.
One of my favorite actors ever!

Yeah dude, Patriot Games starts off so much exactly like the book, it was hard to finish
Games where Sean Bean has been killed: * The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, assassinated.

I did actually notice that the voice was different, but I thought it was because the game was old and Sean was younger.
He still does die in the game though that’s just not him haha
Nah bro he turns into a statue of akatosh
Also Regis Lucis Caelum in Final fantasy 15
Only in the movie I'm afraid. In the game he's voiced by Jim Pirri.
Still plays him when he dies though lol
He did ok in the Sharpe series.
Yep, got shot, stabbed and beaten black and blue weekly, but never died.
He did fake his death.
He also [took a horse hoof to the head](https://youtu.be/1t1KMkr14tU?si=aEMZDJjsbrS5ufMC) and managed to walk away with just a black eye
now that's soldiering
Used up all of his on screen lives. At least that’s my theory.
This is why I loved The Martian. Sean Bean didn’t die.
Great job acting against type in that one.
Plus he got to be part of Project Elrond.
His career did though, does that count for anything?
He looked happier giving golf lessons 🤣

Seen Been
Saun Bawn
Been there, saw that
"Chased off a cliff by a herd of cows." Monty Python's version is much better.
Bastard!
“Which one??”
Sean Bean does Countdown https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeNbRmI6nC0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-ceqBKkgIY
Diavolo too died like that.
During the filming of Jupiter Ascending, our office was in the same building as the film's office in Chicago. We joked about not getting in the elevator with Sean. I didn't realize just how serious it was. TIL.
Ronin was like the only action movie he made it out alive from...and I like to think he was killed offscreen by Scarrsgard as a loose end.
It’s the being run off a cliff by cows for me.
Also, the Frankenstein chronicles.
Possessor uncut definitely had his gnarliest death but it's not on here :(
Am I the only one around here who knows the past tense of “hang” in this context is “Hanged”?
He could also have been hung in those movies, but confirming that textually may affect their age ratings.
Nope
No. This one annoys me too!
His penis was so big he died from oxygen starvation to the brain after an erection.
Impaled by anchor was my favorite. The finishing touch on ruining an adaptation of a good book.
You don't see too many Clancy fans around here. I just reread Red Storm Rising a few months ago.
I read that one ages ago. The attack on Charles and Diana in **Patriot Games** was a hell of an exciting way to open a book.
Caravaggio" (1986): Ranuccio's throat is slit after becoming involved in a love triangle.
Explosive pen to the eye was a brutal one
Either this is an old graphic or he hasn't died since 2011
Bean had to balance out all the insane surviving he did in the Sharpe series by dying continually thereafter in his career.
Now do one of all the injuries he survived in Sharpe!
Equilibrium?
Film where people are made to suppress emotion but sean was a free thinker and got shot for it.
He was only arrested in National Treasure. A societal death.
And here is the YouTube compilation :) https://youtube.com/watch?v=qhmK4ImrhAc&si=PQHX5AhNQB696fsP
Made infinitely better by watching at 2x speed
Sean Bean isn’t dying in this scene. *Ding*
Black Death was the most hardcore, Fellowship the bravest and GOT the most heartbreaking.
They really missed the opportunity to title this poster, "Oh My God! Sean's *Bean* Killed!"

"From History Magazine"
I never truly knew how to pronounce Sean Bean’s name. Is it Sean Bean? Or Sean Bean?
Neither. It’s Sean Bean.
Shawn Bawn
the red riding trilogy was one of the first things i watched on Netflix streaming. Andrew Garfield has never been as good lol
This is suspiciously specific…Sean Bean made this…
r/dataisbeautiful
The Frankenstein Chronicles: hanged
And yet, in the end, he Stood the Test of Time.
Pixels: died inside during production
Is he alright?
Guessing we’re counting Snowpiercer as “still alive” ??
What do we think are the circumstances where he goes by *Mr. Bean*?
In possessor he had one of the most brutal non deaths ever
Ah. An actual cool guide.
Sean Bean freaking Kills it.
You won’t believe how many ways he dies in video games…. And somehow he’s keeps coming back.
Equilibrium: shot in the face through a book
Holy shit I did not realize that was Sean Bean in The Field.
He’s just really good at dying.
And what can I exactly do with this 'guide'? Perhaps more suited for /rinfographics or /rdataisbeautiful
I was there when we buried him for *Don't Say A Word*.
He’s died in more films than many actors have acted total
There’s one movie in which he’s pulled apart by trailers
Has anyone figured out how many times he has died in a movie versus how many times he lived?
I forgot all abouit The Field, great movie.
Sharpe will never die!
Ronin?
> Lorna Doone: drowned in a mire Damn I didn't know cookies went that hard
Love how in goldeneye he didn't die from the several hundred foot drop
Missing the movie Troy
He survived though. He would also have survived the sequel had there been one.
Oh damn, I’m mixing him up with Eric Bana in Troy
But why he always has to die
Easier to count shows he doesn't die in... Like Sharpe's Rifles
Beheaded Stark
"Oh my God, they killed Sean Bean!" .. "You bastards!"
Sorry to be a fly in the ointment but he survived numerous assassination attempts, skirmishes, duals and battles in the excellent Sharpe series. That probably cancels out all the demises in the other movies
We don't know that he died in Far North. He might've come back to the tent.
Got blowed up in Knights of the Zodiac
He plays such a great villain but I hate seeing him die every time. Legendary actor
Sean bean dies in the end.
Can’t believe Sean got boyonetted! atleast he wasn't girlonetted.
Came here just to make sure Goldeneye was included :)
Makes up for all the shit he survived In sharpe
Yes, now I want to see one of Jeffrey Dean Deadguy
Imagine having “died 20 times” on your resume.
He actually dies twice in Goldeneye 🤔
Sean Bean's best death was when he turned into the freaking dragon god of time and cast Dagon back into Oblivion
This is a minor point, and I’m not sure it applies to International English, but in British English there is a distinction between hanged (for people) and hung (for objects). Though I suppose you could argue that if he was killed first, his corpse (and object) would be hung. I’m arguing with myself now. Nice graphic though!
Who
Only movie I’ve seen where he doesn’t die is National Treasure
They didn’t mention his death in Equilibrium?
I’m aware that his name is pronounced “Shawn Bean” but why? Couldn’t it be “Shawn Bawn” or “Seen Bean”? His name’s only 1 letter apart 🤷🏻♂️
Red Riding was such an excellent series.
The original script of National Treasure called for him to be eaten by sewer alligator.
Equilibrium was a great silly movie
Sean Bean dead a lot…
Oh how I miss FHM
I thought for sure in The Martian, he was going to get killed because every movie he has ever done, killed.
Yah bastard.
And he never died in his best role. Bloody bastards
"Stabbed with a rapier." I must've missed that episode of *Clarissa Explains It All.*
r/threebeansalad
Ironically he survived in the Silent Hill movies.
Two bags Bean
Me who don’t know celebrities: wow I didn’t know Mr. Bean dies so much in his movies…
I guessing Sean Bean is getting tired of dying on screen
Ok, while we’re all here. How the fuck did he survive the fall off the antenna in Goldeneye?
Airborne 1998? Isn't that the rollerblading/inline movie? I don't remember anyone getting shot in that
It's all karma for playing the unkillable Richard Sharp for so long
I'd actually love to see a comparison between Bean and Kyle Chandler. Most of the things I've seen him in (apart from FNL), he also tends to die off pretty early in the movie/series.
He just fell to his death in Goldeneye
What about when he got ambushed by a cup of coffee in Ronin, he didn’t die in the traditional sense but De Niro killed him off from the group.
He died in Medici. Bean played Jacopo de' Pazzi who was hanged from the walls of Florence. After that, his body was thrown into the Arno, where it was retrieved by children, hung from a willow tree, flogged, and thrown back into the river.
Don’t forget “Equilibrium” My man C.Bale did him wrong. Shot him while he was reading Yeats. That cold!
So he was killed by a Welshman in War Requiem?
It’s always funny to me that he survived Silent Hill
Jesus this sub is shit
You are right, i will unsub. Thank you for healing a little bit of my internet poisoning.
Where's my Taco Bell?
You mean "a cool guide to how Sean Bean died in some of the movies he acted *in*." Please learn to English.
